Is the paperback edition updated from the original hardcover edition? If so, what are the differences between the two editions?

Very interesting and thought provoking. However, as with most academics these days, this is mostly a dissection of a problem, therefore, for the pathway forward to be solutions oriented.. we must have cooperative enterprises that are focused on solving ecological issues. Eg: rather than one rich person on the top of a pyramid with peons doing all the (solar, greywater, local food production, Green jobs) work, we are all Workers/Owners together and we make decisions together.. especially the decision of what’s to do with the profits. Cheers

As it is with all problems, you must first Accept that there is one in order to fix it. And while I haven't read the book I would portend that there are probably ideas on how to address the problem at hand.

You mentioned all distinctions male/female, fair/dark, immigrant/native.. but missed out the most important distinction.. writers habitually forget because they probably find it too controversial not everyone has guts as Mr Rushdie. So I will take the opportunity to bring it to everyone's notice .. it's BELIEVER/DISBELIEVER orINFIDEL kafir vs Momin .. why does every writer miss it

Reparations would never fix anything; it's too late. In any case if white people had not destroyed thriving black communities a century ago there wouldn't be any efforts regarding reparations. White people wouldn't even let black Americans thrive under a segregated world.

@@emerywills5814 My homeland built aqueducts, roads, invented wheels, controlled the Western world by the 500 C.E. My homeland had people who explored the world. Native Americans were taught to build the wheel in the late 1700's (even though that invention was known in 5000 BC) South Africa improved on the spear in the 1800's (going from a throwing spear to a stabbing spear) My homeland is better

Check out the recent film "Origin," which explains Wilkerson's book and the research that went in to it. It's difficult to compress such important and complex issues into a 7-minute TV segment.
