Not so much a male voice as a refreshingly deep, robust and unaffected one that expresses itself with a certain honest abandon. I agree: it's so nice to listen to. (In contrast, I might add, to the falsetto screechings of some other celebrated female vocalists who are best left unnamed.)
Hats off to this great young artist,so fluent with the various nuances of carnatic music , presenting them with such great ease and keeping us spellbound. This is a very novel concept to break the monotony of carnatic concerts(for those not having the basics of carnatic music) and making the presentation dynamic with meaning to the lyrics and covering all the expectations of beginners.. I don't have any Carnatic training, but I started listening to Carnatic concerts and able to appreciate it only due to the introduction from film music and your blogs and vlogs, thank you and I appreciate your efforts in making a commoner understand Carnatic Music.

I thought Vivathi swaram is the note not in the ragam.. Vadhi is the main note, samvadhi is the 2nd main note and vivadhi is the note not in the raga but u still use it. You said its the note close to each other Re and Ga. Please explain.
she is talking about two notes in the raga which are semitone far or next to each other......she is explaining about the feel you get when you are moving between those two
Actually, what you know is correct. The term 'Vivaadi' is used in Hindustani system in that scense. But in Carnatic that is called Bhaashaanga swaram . And what she said is correct in Carnatic System. In Carnatic, the term Vivaadi is used for 'Chromatic' notes. Example: R3=G2 And G3 in this raga is using no interval between them . =Komal Gandhaar and Shuddha Gaandhaar are being used One beside another.. .
