This is the test where Dhoni literally forced Ishant to keep bowling short even though Ishant didnt like that strategy. But at the end it got him his career best figures and victory for India.

I still remembered this amazing spell, at home eating garlic breads, match commenced from 3:30 PM indian standard time and watched till last wicket. I cheered forEach and every wicket of ishant sharmas. Especially root n bells wicket. After 28 years india won a test match lords.🔥🔥❤❤❤❤

Frankly, his 2012 tour of Australia and England tour in 2011 showed he lacked skills, later as well in New Zealand he was unable to take wickets, leaked a lot of runs, 2011-2017 India was the weakest bowling unit, Ishant got better post 2017 frankly, till then pick up any match away or at home you will se his average in high 30s or low 40s. That is not called phenomenal. He is the slowest bowler to take 300 test wickets, in his 93rd match, he is overrated sadly. Workhorse for India yes, but wicket less many a times.

How did India spoil his career? He is a very well recognised and celebrated fast bowler in India. But the career span of a fast bowler is short. Very few can keep up their fitness to have a long career since fast bowling is very physically demanding. Also India now has a huge pool of some of the most effective fast bowlers in the world. Competition is tougher than ever to be in the national team.

@Murtaza Sajjad it’s a home game but it’s been a very long time since India played in India .every one knew how dominant India is in India . Luck hasn’t been in India’s way in the first test . But India could definitely have done better . India didn’t show the intent in the first innings as they showed in the third innings. Even after a defeat google predicts India have a 54%chance to win the test .that’s the team India have. If India doesn’t show intent (which I hope doesn’t happen) ,luck is not gonna be our side. I think England are massively underrated because they’ve only played a few games in the new era under Silverwood. Since Chris Silverwood came in they have only lost 3 tests, drawn 3, and won 9.

I still remember when I started watching cricket he was our main force in an average fast-bowling unit. On spin-friendly pitches, he has above-average stats . Only if he has played more matches in SENA countries he might have been our best pacer in test cricket.
