I'm glad you were able to visit Lahaina before the events of August 8th. It's so sad watching your video of Front Street and knowing it'll never be the same again. A couple of the locations you visited have closed down since your visit - Fukushima Store and Eskimo Candy. We like getting fish tacos from Paia Fish Company - locations in Paia and Kihei (their Lahaina location burned down). Four Sisters Bakery in Wailuku has my favorite butter rolls and you can also get red hot dogs at Olowalu General Store.
I don't know when you recorded this, but it's a good thing you were there before the big storm on Dec. 19 and 20. (Though I know you wouldn't have planned to go to Maui if you knew the storm was coming.) All the major islands were impacted, but Maui seems to have been the hardest hit with power outages, flooding, and damage and roads blocked from fallen trees and debris. I hope all those small businesses you visited survived and will be OK for the upcoming holidays. I guess you were lucky you just had some showers and rainbows and still got to enjoy all the special Maui food while you were there!
From the red Hot dog, to the donuts, to the last ice you had with sweet beans on the bottom, I just can’t stop drooling. Pure yummy torture. But glad to be part of it! Thank you for sharing
You guys are the cutest ❤ we often see you two give each other “goo-goo” love eyes to each other and it’s awesome! Keep the love alive and travel well. God bless you and your families
Going to Maui in January and have been brushing up on your visits there. Everytime I think I know where to explore, you come out with a new Maui video, and I have to squeeze in more places to try! But, it's a good problem to have.
Love love love MAUI! ❤️ 😍 DH's first Hawaiian trip was to Maui, so glad cuz his experience was way low key than if we'd gone to Honolulu. Stayed in condo on Kahana Beach, beautiful oceanside with calm wavy surf, warmest water, not windy crashing waves, swam with the turtles, saw sunset every evening! Helicopter tour over Molokai, sub ride at Lahaina, drive Nakalele Blowhole. Skipped road to Hana (I did that with parents back in the 70's, and DH wasn't down with the curvy roads). Unfortunately, our only luau was canceled due to rain and we only had a week. Maybe next time! Def need a car, oh, and our condo didn't charge for parking, which can be expensive. Thanks for your tour!
Nice to see you visiting a lot of my home away from home spots. Lots of familiar but a couple of new spots too! Aloha! And you got Makawao pronunciation tight 😉
Love Komoda's. I haven't been to Maui since before the pandemic. I don't know if my favorite places still exist. Thank you for sharing your Maui adventures.
What a great day in Maui! Have never seen donuts on a stick. Like it. It was a wonderful trip and all the food looked yummy but those fish tacos were impressive and the presentation was beautiful. Three rainbows in 1 video. Wow! Thank you for taking us along on your trip. Great thumbnail pic with Lesley. My uncle Nico also spells his name Nicolas.
Thanks Yvonne! We loved our foodie adventure on Maui. Glad we hit up different places from the last time we visited. Nicolas is kinda rare, we lucked out finding that souvenir surfboard. 🤙🏼
Aloha 🌺 you went to all our old haunts , we love to walk around the town of Makawao , a lot of art shops , and Makawao general store for your pastries 👍 and worth the money for fish tacos at Coconuts excellent , everything on the menu is yummy 😋, I’m sorry you didn’t try Wow Wow Lemonade , excellent açaí bowls in Kihei , glad you guys enjoyed your visit to Maui 👍
Fukushima Store was in the news that were closing down at end of December, so customers were lamenting of an institution closing. Owner says he is 78 years old and store is in need of repairs.. He will close on 12/23 for the holidays and 'go from there'. Love's Bakery (baking in Hawaii since 1851) did have to shut down earlier this year, but the recipes live on with a small baking company in Oregon. Logos and packaging remains the same so it LOOKS like nothing changed when it fact the Hawaii born Love's no longer is made in Hawaii.
Nice video...just love watching you both...you both are always so chipper, happy and fun to watch...honest in your food reviews 👍...enjoy guys and be safe and God Bless 😘🤗💙
What a great idea to do a day trip to Maui. Did a downhill bike ride and stopped by the bakery. Yummy donuts for sure. Will have to go back to Maui soon. Thanks for this vlog!
Aloha B & L, Maui No Ka Oi Da best place in the world!!! I love the video there's so much good places to eat you don't know where to go. Mele Kalikimaka🎄🎀⛄🤙🤙
God bless y'all always and enjoy y'all selves and happy holidays to u and your family and friends. I always wanted to go to Hawaii when I was a kid looking at the TV show Hawaii Five O and still do. What did your sister eate with y'all on the trip and are y'all going to be home for Christmas lol and see some videos of the kids. I want to visit all seven islands and a Luna. Baltimore MD 🙏
Komodas is the best bakery ever! But you have to get there early cuz they run out of the best pastries. Glazed and filled pastries are the best. We used to get there by 7:00am. After like 8:30 they’re already out of stuff!
Ono presentation! Next time you visit Komodo’s Bakery you must try their infamous long john cream filled donuts, they are off the chart! You hit all the spots my wife and I love! Next trip try Paia Fish Market in Lahaina and Prison Street pizza! We were married in Lahaina and have been fortunate to spend our wedding anniversaries on Maui each year🤙🏼🤓🙏🏻Mahalo Nui Loa🥰
❤last time i saw your video i wanted to go to Honolulu; now I want to go to Maui. NEVER been there. my friend is from Maui; and she said that it is a quiet and beautiful place. looks like she is right.❤
They're right! We originally had condo reservations in heart of Waikiki, unbeknownst to us it was Easter weekend so airfare was crazy! Was able to change our vacation to Maui for May. Thank goodness, this was Hubby's 1st trip over the Pacific, and it was so wonderful! No parking charges at condo, no crowded beach, the condo tower actually blocked the sun in the morning so we swam in the shade! Water was so warm and calm, no loud crashing waves, sunset every evening, beautiful walking in neighborhoods. The only crowds were in Lahaina and Costco. Wanna go back soon.......
Hi bill me Lisa, wow the bakery items at the$ beginning, the chocolate cream puff and malasada looked so good, the twist donut on a stick looked amazing😍 I want to be there in Hawaii with you when you both go 🥰 I wished I could haha.
Hi Angie! Wish we could've shared those bakery items with you! There's something about small mom & pop shops that big bakeries can't duplicate, the love they put into it. =)
I lived on Maui for a bit and everyday after noon the Maui winds would kick up like clockwork because they whip through the valleys. Best time to get out and do stuff is in the morning when it’s calm. Esp if you’re gonna go beach or surf or snorkel. Those Maui winds are killer! LOL!
Hope ur ohana have a great time in our island...we just got back from Vegas to celebrate my wife Janice birthday on Dec. 28....Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
I guess you can't do the trip on a better day, this Kona low also happened last year around December 5 .Hope you have a safe time for the rest of your vacation. 🤙
The Hawaii videos are very relaxing. The bean paste in your shave ice makes me think of the sweetened beans in halo-halo. I wonder if the flavor is similar?
@wendelld808 Agreed, day trip worked out well. Didn't want to pay for 2 nights hotel for a 1 night stay. lol @kisary We paid full fare on Hawaiian for the island hop just like everyone else.
How long was the flight to Maui? Was it smooth at the airport? I want to island hop next time I’m there but I’m afraid it will take longer to board and fly there. Love your videos ❤
Flight time around 40 mins. Smooth, no issues at the airport. All day parking at HNL was $18. It really wasn't a hassle, we'd island hop again. Thanks for watching, Crystal. =)
Loved the video aside from Bill wearing the aloha shirt you all look local. Sometimes the giveaway is the speaking we here can tell usually when people are from the mainland. Other than that you fit so perfectly. Actually I take that back looked at Bills shirt again not at all touristy looks like the regular local hawaiian shirt, usually on a casual day the guys wear tshirts. No guri guri on this visit. By the way since Bill is an airline employee you didn’t want to do zed fare or non rev on like hawaiian, sometimes I guess not worth the hassle. I am a retired FA with hawaiian so we are blessed with non rev flights, but revenue pax always come first. Thumbs up
Hi Jeanne! Good eye on my Aloha shirt, not a touristy one, got it from Zippy’s special release. We visited guri guri on our last visit to Maui, so skipped it this time. Good point on zed, but because Lesley was traveling with us, we just wanted to make sure all 3 of us made it there and back, so we paid confirmed. Agreed, we’re blessed with the non-rev life (as long as we don’t get bumped 🤣).
Please come back often love your videos we also go to Disney quite a bit maybe one day we’ll run into Lisa Merry Christmas to you all and a happy new year
