We wake to a misty morning at Ballaugh Beach. After a drone flight we drive off towards Sulby Glen and discover a roost of chickens by the roadside!
We park at Tholt-y-Will and take a walk through the plantation up to Sulby Reservoir.

Lovely and green everywhere. Those chickens were all Roosters. Strange to see so many like that. Chickens in general, never sleep on the ground. So at night they will always go and perch on branches or anywhere off the ground.

Just come across your channel and love it. I was especially interested in this episode as I live in Tholt-y-Will at the Old School House where you met Ashley and Orry. It's a fantastic place to live... a few midges but I wouldn't have it any other way. The little gate on the hillside is the access to a little dam which supplies stream water to the house...yes despite being below Sulby Reservoir we have a private water supply. If your ever over again just knock on the door and we'll make you a cuppa!

Enjoyed this one; well, honestly, I enjoy them all. Those roosters were quite a random pack of roaming pluckers. The dog you ran across looked almost exactly like a Border Collie we used to have. Very smart dog and enough energy for 4 regular hounds and that aforementioned gaggle of fowls. Give a dog like that a job and it will be well done. Thank you for always taking us along.

Hi both, I really enjoyed that one. Loving the idea of the wild Chickens. Can you imagine that on the mainland ? They'd all be bumped off and eaten before you could say Colonel Sanders. 😬 On behalf of Beetlekind may I thank you for your small act of kindness. So many people these days would just have trodden on it and carried on. Yes, I agree with you. There is no point in travelling around in such a vehicle as yours at a great rate of knots as in the countryside you would miss so much beauty or hit it straight on and destroy it. I never really knew that the Isle of Man was so diverse and beautiful. It seems you have found some really choice gems on your travels around it. Another great Vlog. 👍

Tholt-y - will is lovely one of my favourite places on the island. The familiar crow of the roosters, dont really appreciate their early wake up call, I'm not a morning person 😂. I really do enjoy your channel, learning about the history and getting ideas on cooking in a camper-van. In NZ we have very strict rules in regards to freedom camping. Unless your vehicle is certified self contained you cannot freedom camp. In 2022 another bill comes in that will affect mainly slider vans who are currently certified self contained but unless they have a particular toilet setup by 2022 they will not meet requirements. These rules are very restricting and unfair for the responsible campers.

Thanks for the binge watch. RU-vid (& us) love when people do that. It helps the channel. 👍 I pay for my music. I have a library of over 2000 tracks. Music is there to create the emotion I want the viewer to feel. First thing to decide then is tempo and the emotion, happy, sad, creepy etc. Then I sub divide my catalog into slow, medium, fast, vocal and instrumental. I flick through the library until it matches what I want you to feel. Hey presto that is the track. Normally I find it in one to five minutes. On a bad day I give up and come back to it later 👍

We hVe a Gay Community on Waiheke Island. It's at the entrance to a large park & is where people breeding chooks dump unwanted roosters. It's sad in a way but they seem to be happy & we'll fed. Beautiful too! 😁

I heard they are finding many Neolithic sites as the sand dunes collapse. Looks like fancy breed chickens that got loose. Organic KFC LOL. That was one long dry stone wall on the trail. Any trout in the streams? That ine forest must have smelled nice. Great drone shots!

Thanks for watching. We have a 9L refillable underslung LPG tank. During the summer we went 62 nights between refills. Last winter it was 13 nights.

I currently use these cameras DJI Osmo Action 2 for walking about. (Will be upgrading to Osmo Action 3). DJI Mini 2 Drone. Sony RX100 tripod mounted for closeup shots. Canon SX740 for superzoom 30x. Not that great mind as no manual control. For sound I use RODE Wireless Go 2 mics but may be switching to DJI wireless Mics soon.

Not my type of viewing content.....normally but as being that rare thing Born and still lives on the island I do flick through isle of man content, good to see people's views and thoughts of the island, but the little red campers is now unmissable, , love your laid back relaxing to watch style. Well “gh" in the Gaelic is pronounced as a "ck" in English. So ballaugh could possibly supposed to be pronounced ballack. Like kennaugh, curragh, mooragh, ballalough,

Those Chickens/Cockerels are wild, I've feed them many times. Chickens/ Cockerels have no natural enemy's on the Island like Foxes.

That dog was lovely, it’s ears were amazing when they twitched as he observed you both. Free range cockerels! I wonder if they hatch their own eggs then let them go rather than dispose of them by other means! The can be a problem if you leave them with the hens because they pester the hens and the eggs are fertilised and have the little red blood spots that some people don’t like. They can also be noisy if they live in residential areas. They looked happy and healthy enough. Thanks as always for sharing your adventure.

I don't think those chickens down Tholt-y-Will Road will be laying many eggs, they're mostly roosters - apparently dumped by people who only want hens. I used to stop and feed them. Here it's iguanas I see going to the gym and shops and back - not quite the same!.

Cockerels can't lay eggs ;-). Sadly they will more than likely have been dumped. Absolutely heartbreaking.

@@LifeistooshortCK 😄 - I feed feral cockerels that have been abandoned. Breeders should be prepared for cockerels before choosing to incubate eggs. Sadly very few people want cockerels yet most make absolutely wonderful pets and deserve to be cared for. Glad to see you say people have been feeding them.
