The riders take years to learn the course and eventually know the 37 & 3/4 mile course intimately. They take years to build up to the speeds they are able to achieve. Hats off and full respect to each of them for having the courage to try this race. I believe the record for the average speed over one lap is 135mph. Insane!

Average speed around the isle of man course 135mph over one lap of 37 and 3 quarter miles this was achieved by Peter Hichman in 2018 during the senior tt which is 6 laps total of 226 miles long. The top speeds reached are from 190 to 205 Mph down sulby straight. most of the corners in these vids are around 150 to 175 mph

Correct, it IS crazy, but here's a brief description of it; It's public roads, not a special circuit so there is hazards to avoid, like, buildings, hedges, trees, light poles, drains, bumps on the road, and of course spectators Each lap is just over 37 &1/2 miles long, big bikes do 6 laps (226 miles), they also do 2 pit stops for fuel and maybe a tyre. The course is called the "Mountain Course", for a reason, there's a mountain to go over....... not a big one, but still a good size. The TT races MUST be run on 100% dry roads, simple reason is tyres....... how can you race on a part wet surface with racing slick tyres - - - too dangerous Over 200 have died since it began in I think 1907.......... spectators too Lap record is just over 130mph average, top speed is just nudging 200mph Biggest shock......... prize money, or lack of, the big race - - - 1st prize??? about £18000, approx $22000 (yes, thousand) And as it's public roads, they have a special day called Mad Sunday where anyone can go around - - no speed limits......... not for feeble weak minded cowards, I don't ride, but have driven it as fast as I could (AMG Mercedes C63....... tuned to about 600bhp) and got passed by bikes!!!! One more thing, if you think these guys have seriously large balls to compete - - - females also race (at the same time, in the same races) Have a look for the following, Peter Hickman on board lap (he has the lap record), or Mark Higgins in a race prepared Subaru, or the best race ever (in my opinion) Fogarty against Steve Hislop (who is no longer with us)

During Manx gp the mountain road is two way but still no cycling at any time. No pedestrians on the closed roads ,massive fines if you get caught, and you will be, the marshalls can see every inch of the course and we will report you.

A colleague told me about a rider walking the course in a documentary talking about coming over a rise and then a hitting open bend at full speed. How he would aim to skim the plants on the bend with his helmet, as he got to that point he found out the plants were mosses growing on the stone wall. He said the rider looked ill at realising how close he came to serious injury.

That was Steve Plater, after he retired and joined the commentary team, and was walking the course with a non-rider member of the commentary team, explaining the intricacies of a successful lap. That's years worth of riders taking the turn with their body over the narrow sidewalk and just barely nicking the helmet on the pillar. Talk about flirting with death. In recent years they have added a padded mat over it at races, which is sort of like putting a band-aid on a broken bone.

I'm 51 now and rode dirt bikes and road bikes from 6yrs old to my mid 40s. So many people don't realize when on a road bike you dont just lean into curves, actually leaning plays very little role. Well for instance if your taking a curve to the left you turn the handle bars to the right and curves to the right you turn the bars left. It's not a drastic turn but the faster the harder you turn. Think about it🤔 if your going straight and you turn the bars to the left which way will the bike lean? It'll flop to the right and vise versa.👍

I dont know if when you have grown up watching the TT it doesnt seem that bad. Been a few times over the years love watching Guy Martin. But the Americans seem bowled over with the TT its such an old race. Trust me its not sped up its fast LOL

So far there have been 280 deaths of riders since it began and 3 spectators died too but this does not include accidents with other injuries which in one rider included a broken back, shattered pelvis, broken arm and concussion to name a few but he was back two years later racing again. 2005 was the worst body count in the history of it which was 11 riders who died. People are trying to get in banned but the riders, fans and organisers are fighting hit. It's not the government of the Isle of man as it brings in around 30 million every year just for this one race. You should watch the side car races two which is just as insane as this. Bother and women are both on the track and they all know when they step up to that line that at least one of them is NEVER coming but as nearly all of the racers say they take comfort I n the fact that the racers were died doing the thing they loved.

Yes of course they practice this course many times and get info on it, it's 37.1 miles a Lap !!! A lot to learn with all kinds of pavement changes and villages, walls, bumps that you get air on and weather !!!! Massive skill and Balls needed !!!

Most craziest riders of the world...its not a track, its a normal road, with trees, fences, stonewalls, paintings on the road and some damaged ground...if you want to see the real crazy stuff just watch a complete round on it, i think its on YT too. And dont forget all these riders who gave their life on this road.

Probably the worst video you could have used to show the TT, half the video clips are not even from the Isle of Mann.

The wide open mouth 'surprised' look on thumbnails is becoming off-putting as so many reactors are doing it; suggests a degree of fakeness.

Looks like at least 3 different types of racing in this video. Isle of Man TT, Irish road racing, and MotoGP. In the TT, the racers start in 10 second intervals, the other 2 races are started in packs. MotoGP is on a race track, and the others are on roads.

They say it takes three years to learn the nearly 40-mile lap of the course well enough to to flat out. I have personally ridden a motoercycle at 130 m.p.h. But not on the Isle of Man!

Basically the same riders every year. Only so many people are crazy enough to do this. They know the roads intimately.
