Imagine you were sitting in your house minding your own business when your door gets kicked in by some aggressive home invaders. They murder some of your family members, chase some other members of your family into your neighbors' yard, and then herd you and your surviving family into three small rooms(Gaza, the West Bank, and the Golan Heights) and take over the remainder of your house. They then tell you to your face that this house is theirs because their ancestors lived on that plot of land 3000 years ago and their 'God' gave it to them.They then start bringing in some of their family to set up shop and live in YOUR house because they claim that they were 'persecuted' in the last neighborhood that they lived in. Your neighbors and your family members that were chased into the neighbor's yard come on to your property and try to evict the home invaders and they claim that your neighbors are 'aggressing' them. The state government(the United States) sides with the invaders and starts providing the invaders with top notch weapons while you are only able to use the few weapons that you can scrounge from the neighborhood. Would YOU be willing to sit down at a 'negotiation table' with the invaders to determine how much they get to keep of what they stole from you in the first place?

I saw a video account from an Israeli woman from a town bordering Gaza. She said Hamas fighters entered her home and told her that they do not harm women and children, and that she "felt safe" while waiting with her children. One of the fighters asked if he could have a banana, and got the permission, and then they left. I saw another video with something similar. Usually musims have strict rules about this. We should remember the Palestinians, including Hamas, are made up of individuals, and are not a monolith. Anyone who commits atrocities should be held accountable. We are still in the fog of war and need to understand exactly what happened in more detail. For example, the story of Hamas fighers decapitating babies has been acknowledged as untrue by the IDF.

The moral compass broke the day cognitive dissonance became a mass phenomena in the late 40s, where at least a half-million natives of Palestine at the time, were forcefully and illegally kicked out of their homes, being one of the largest refugee crises of the time. It seems people cannot fathom having a group of people coming to your doorstep on a random day, claiming the house you/your fathers built is theirs, but if you resist of course, it gets biblical for all intents and purposes. Your children, having no home nor shelter, are grown into a homeless life, a life where this outsider came and took them everything that kept them warm and safe. Being unlawfully kicked of your home naturally creates tension, which growth even more exponentially physical with the occupier’s attitude. Suddenly you find yourself at a situation where you have to resist this form of oppression, which even the Geneva conventions deem it lawful that it be armed. But of course, you’re no longer a nation with borders, but abandoned children of history. Moreover, it seems these western laws only apply for the western hemisphere. Now, it seems that to be judged as a good moral upstanding individual, you have to be complacent, accept oppression, and submit to your morally and ethnically superior occupiers, lest you’d be given your sweet treat. Forget justice, we want you to please us and our idea of what a moral compass is.

In 2002, the entire Arab League offered Israel full diplomatic recognition along with trade and peace. All that was required was that Israel return, not to the internationally recognized 1948 borders but just to the 1967 "Green Line" borders. Israel wanted the land more than peace and have kept up the theft of land ever since. Does Israel have the right to self defense? Sure, but so do the Palestinians. As one Rabbi remarked about 20 years ago, "What will be the hardest thing for Israeli's to admit, is that the creation of the country was based on a sin." I wonder it we'll ever get there...

Gad Sad left Lebanon in 1975 as he says because of the civil war. I understand his family left to Canada as millions of Lebanese who left their country afraid of war. This means his family as Jewish, was safe there. His comment of a Lebanese child wanting to kill Jewish is not adequate. I am Lebanese and have almost his age. At that same time he was in Lebanon, I remember the Israeli commandos arrived one night by boats to Ousaii where I used to live and killed many palestinians and Lebanese neighbours. I remember, as a child watching the flesh of the dead bodies on the next morning. Is there any other country in the world that commits assassinations in any part of the world like that?
