4:50 - Israel did not withdraw from Sinai due to pressure of the Oil Embargo. It was the Egyptian President Anwar Al-Sadat who decided to announce a peace initiative and visited Israel. The following negotiations under the hospices of US President Jimmy Carter led to a peace agreement between Egypt and Israel. As a result Israel withdrew from Sinai and returned it to Egypt which paved the way to normalization and diplomatic ties between the two countries. This was the first peace agreement in the Israeli-Arab conflict and has since been in effect until this day. The peace makers, Mr. Anwar Al-Sadat and the Israeli P.M. Menachem Begin received in 1978 the Nobel Peace Prize.

Great maps 👍 love the detail, I'll add from wiki 3:50 In April 1967, Syria shot at an Israeli tractor ploughing in the demilitarized zone -which Syria considered an ongoing practice of Israeli encroachment on contested land. The event occasioned an escalation into a prewar aerial clash. In May 1967, following misinformation about Israeli intentions provided by the Soviet Union, Egypt expelled UN peacekeepers who had been stationed in the Sinai Peninsula since the Suez conflict,[1] and announced a blockade of Israel's access to the Red Sea (international waters) via the Straits of Tiran, which Israel considered an act of war. Tension escalated, with both sides' armies mobilising. Less than a month later, Israel launched a surprise strike which began the Six-Day War.

From Wikipedia: In 1979, Egypt and Israel signed a peace treaty in which Israel agreed to withdraw from the entirety of the Sinai Peninsula. Israel subsequently withdrew in several stages, ending in 1982. Israel ceded the Sinai peninsula in 82, NOT IN 1974, as is mentioned at 4.53.

Some details that are not correct: - The Six Days War (1967), Israel did not just declare war. The Egyptians blocked the Straits of Tiran, one of Israel's main trading routes, which is an act of war. Then, Israel responded and the war started. - Israel did not give Sinai back to Egypt due to international pressure. It was a part of the Israel-Egypt peace treaty which lasted for over 40 years now. It was a fair deal that brought peace from the south-western border. - Israel has decided, in 2005, to withdraw from the Gaza Strip. The Palestinians there chose Hamas, which is today a recognized terrorist organization by the US, EU and UN. Hamas' intentions are different from the PLA's (Fatah), and that is a huge barrier for peace. - "Israel imposes a blockage in the region (Gaza) while Hamas regularly fires rockets", that's the other way around. Hamas used their waterways and border crossing with Egypt to smuggle rockets and weapons, which were then targeted toward Israeli towns. Then Israel started blockading the border. In this blockade, any supply is welcome as long as it goes through Israeli ports first and being scanned and searched for illegal weapons. Then transported into Gaza via an Israeli border crossing. Israel is still the largest supplier of medicine, water, electricity and food to the Gaza strip.

Ariel Weinberger, Israel was defeated in 1973 and barlef defense line was destroyed and we win in depletive war so Israel was weakened and we blocked the straits of Tiran to prevent any sort of help to come to Israel and the Arabian countries refused to give petrol to america to supply Israel, and we have cut connections with america since they deceived us that Israel won't attack us and we are fools to listen to them that lead us to our defeat in six days war! Plus Israel won because she attacked our military airports so we got no air cover! You cannot say you win us by toe to toe, you win us by cheating! And surprise attack! I cannot say we lost but we lost honorably not winning with cheating! In 1973 we have deceived america and Europe and said "we won't attack Israel" while building our military in secret! And the European fools have been deceived so the Americans, they came to help Israel after we defeated it in 1973, we restored half of Sinai and the other half after the 1979 peace treaty which called camp David treaty, which is located in america unfortunately! That's the truth, the others are lies, if you don't believe then watch a video about moche dayan and he admitted that Israel failed in that war and Egypt won with the help of god then the Arabian countries! While we defeated Israel, america and UK. Listen to the real truth I swear!

@@PaceWorks they only took lands from Israel twice, at the end of the war of 1948 (independence war) and at the end of the 1967 war (arab coalition war) lemme tell you about it in detail, in both of these wars the arabs started it to kick the Jews outside of the entire region. When Israelis repelled them and won they took land to use as a buffer zone so that less Israeli citizen suffering happens. You deserve to know prove of this. After 1967 when Israel took land from arab countries to establish buffer zone (because at this point palestine wasn't the only threat to Israel, Egypt and Jordon and Syria posed a serious threat too) the arabs (Jordon, Syria and Egypt and Palestine with support of the arab league) started the Yom kippur war in 1973 all of them against Israel. None of them made a big progress through Israel except for Egypt they entered small parts of Gaza strip (which Israel militarily occupied to have a buffer zone against Egypt) and israel entered Suez city, unlike Israel which is small and has so many cities to resist after Israel occupied Suez city there was no other city on the way of Israel to the capital of Egypt (Cairo) meaning Israel could've continued the offense and destroyed all of Cairo. Then the USSR and mainly the USA entered to stop this entire conflict, Israel wanted peace for it's people and Egypt saw that it is an inch away from downfall so the camp David treaty was signed between Egypt and Israel, so at that point Palestine had no lands it was literally a war buffer zone to ensure the safety of the citizens of Israel, but after Egypt promised peace to the Israelis (which is still going to this day) Israel gave Egypt the Sinai and the Suez canal back and gave Gaza strip to palestine. Israel went on with Egypt to make more treaties in Oslo to provide aid to the palestinian people and help them become an actual state with authority which later happened in 1988 and you'd be surprised to know that Israel recognizes Palestine and the palestinian rights to some of the land, they just can't give them more land cuz of their aggression (especially in the west bank on the eastern front because peace with Jordon the neighbor in the east wasn't secured)

These next three would also be really nice but would probably require the video to be more like ~12-13 minutes long. 4) They don't discuss how the ideology of Pan-Arabism, and especially Nasserism, shaped the conflict and Israel's diplomatic relations. 5) Debates over 'The Right of Return', especially with regards to the conception of Israel as a 'Jewish State' are never mentioned 6) The current situation of Palestinians living in The West Bank isn't explored in any depth, nor is the Palestinian refugee crisis & worldwide diaspora. 7) Changes in Israeli demographics and politics in the 21st century, in particular, the rapid growth of the Haredi population and increased popularity of right-wing and far-right politics in Israel

With no protection from the SAM missile batteries the entire southern Egyptian army was exposed to the Israeli air force and completely surrounded. The Egyptian southern army would be wiped out. Sadat asked to stop the war as a result. At the end of the war Israel still had the Sinai. Jews are the Hebrew people. The Hebrews were the descendants of Abraham through his son, Isaac, and then his grandson Jacob. Jacob was renamed by God to Israel, and his 12 sons became the 12 tribes of Israel. Lots of drama occurred over centuries and after King Solomon, his son, Rehoboam became the king and he was terrible. 10 tribes in the north rebelled, took on their own king, Jeroboam, and became known as Israel. The two tribes in the south, Benjamin and Judah became known as Judea, which is where Jerusalem is. The Jews are called that as a derivative of the place, "Judea". The tribes in the north became known as Samaritans, because their capitol was Samaria and eventually their land called Samaria. After the Assyrians and Babylonians conquered that region, 700 - 500ish B.C. the 10 tribes became assimilated into those cultures. Judea also suffered conquering and oppression from the Babylonians, then the Persians (less so), then the Greeks. In the Bible, there is a parable Jesus tells of the Good Samaritan. The Jews and the Samaritans were not friends because of their very fractured history, which was the point of the story that the Samaritan stopped to help his enemy. He also meets with a Samaritan woman at a well and talks to her, which was outrageous as he was not only a man but also a Jew, and she was known to be a promiscuous woman. Also, the Hebrew people have been in that region since around 2200 B.C. Islam wasn't founded until the early 600s A.D., about 2,800 years later. The issues in that region are as much religious (if not more so) than political. Abraham had a wife, Sarah who seemingly couldn't bear children, so she gave Abraham her maid so he could have an heir. Ishmael was the son born to Abraham and Hagar. Later in her very old age, Sarah became pregnant with Isaac, who became his legitimate son, and Sarah had Hagar and Ishmael leave. Isaac is the direct lineage to Abraham for both Jews and later Christians. Muslims trace their lineage back to Abraham through Ishmael. This is a very OLD conflict and did not start with Zionism in the early 20th century.
@juliobro1
@juliobro1 5 месяцев назад
@jessicagaulden2819 well, I researched some and to put it in less complicated terms... Hebrews were desert, nomadic people who, after becoming followers of Yaweh, invaded Canaan (allegedly per Yaweh's mandate), took over more territory and trandformed the region in Israel. Later was divided Israel (north) and Judea (south), and from there the Jews originated. Much later the region was conquered, renamed, and restructured by Rome; at some point becoming Palestine. This isn't well understood by most. Yes, it's an "old conflict", but Israel was no more since before Christ, and Jewism became a religious designation, not a nationality. I would argue that there was no more "conflict" either until the WWI and II agreements with the Zionists; the rest is what most know. What most don't know is the nature of the modern "conflict" which is very geopolitical and, recently, energy resources were added to the mix. Things are very different than those biblical perspectives. Other powers and interests are involved, which manipulate media and politics to deceive people worldwide. This must stop.
@jessicagaulden2819
@jessicagaulden2819 5 месяцев назад
@@juliobro1 Yes, in general. But your first comment seemed so ignorant (I don’t mean this in a derogatory way, just completely unknowing, if that makes sense). You can divorce Jews from the Bible but that’s exactly where their “nationality” came from. Read Genesis 12. There are 5 significant covenants in the Old Testament and this one, with Abraham is THE most significant. You can generalize and modernize your description of this group of people, but you cannot possibly divorce it from religion. Hamas does not, the Jews do not, and as a Christian - I do not. Modernist like to paint in terms of oppressors vs victims. There is a strong argument that the Hebrew people have been one of the most oppressed over millennia. The Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, then in waves - Europeans. And, YES, Arabs. Dispersed, cast out repeatedly. I’m suggesting that this is a lot more complicated than the average young person waving the Palestinian flag understands. There deserves to be outrage for how the Palestinian people have suffered. That does NOT excuse Hamas and the atrocities committed on 10/7.
@juliobro1

@jessicagaulden2819
@jessicagaulden2819 5 месяцев назад
@@juliobro1 You keep going on about them being nomads. Not true if you put it in context. Abraham was from Ur, a city-state in Mesopotamia. He gathered his family and headed to Canaan. Skip forward to the time of Jacob and his 12 sons. There was a major famine. Joseph had been sold into Egyptian slavery by 10 jealous brothers. A lot happened, he became very important and powerful in Egypt, had a vision years before and began stockpiling food. The Hebrews moved to Egypt bc they were starving. Over the next centuries they assimilated into the culture and were eventually enslaved by the Egyptians. During the time of Moses, they fled, heading back to Canaan. They wandered in the desert - Jewish and Christian teaching suggests this was necessary for the oldest generation to die out so God could reshape their culture into being specifically Hebrew without Egyptian influence. That’s why the book of Exodus is full of very precise rules about all kinds of things, and very Orthodox Jews still abide by those rules. They made it back to Canaan and assimilated into the culture. They’ve been trying to get back to that part of the world repeatedly throughout history.

Good presentation, although lacking some depth. Maybe under pressure of making it short. Extending by 10-15% would allow making it more reliable and balanced, as (for example) ignoring peace treaties between Israel and Egypt & Jordan leaves a big hole in the story, making a strong impression that the author took side in the conflict. I would also add at least one sentence about the aspirations of each side in respect to the resolution of the conflict, to demonstrate the complexity. But this is a developing issue, which probably deserves another, third chapter…

Peace treaties between 3rd party countries and israel will not justify any of the illegal acts that israel has done to Palestine. The UN proposal in 1947 was unjust by giving most of the land to only the 10% of the Jewish population (before the Nakba and Palestinians got kicked out or killed), the same reason why the British Proposal was unjust. israel has received huge amounts of weapons from the West which is why surrounding Arab countries were pressured into peace agreements but in reality they still have no love for israel since their existence is illegal but currently forced.

Is this feasible? I don’t think the 2-state solution is feasible any more because there are too many Israeli settlements in the West Bank to ever disentangle the mess. I think there are 4 potential risk solutions: 1. Keep the status quo. I don’t think this is feasible. It just perpetuates the conflict. 2. Israel expels a large number of Palestinians out of the West Bank as a way to decrease population pressure. Or Israel annexes a part of the West Bank and expels many of the Palestinians there to the remaining part of the West Bank. I think this would be condemned as ethnic cleansing and would probably not be tolerated by the global community, though an emergency might arise that makes it temporarily feasible. However, even if it happens, I think the conflict would continue and just mutate into new forms. 3. Israel annexes most of the settlement parts of the West Bank, this bringing most or all of the settlers, but leaving the main Palestinian-populated areas, to keep the Palestinian population of Israel from increasing too much. The Palestinians would be left with small, disjointed, and pretty ungovernable pieces of land. This seems to be the goal of many in the Israeli government and large parts of Israeli society. But I don’t think this would end the conflict at all; it would just change its parameters. 4. The bi-National single state I mentioned in the beginning above. I don’t know if this is feasible, but it seems to have the highest chance of long-term success. But I don’t know if Palestinians would accept it, and I definitely don’t know if Israelis would accept it since they have the vast majority of the land, wealth, and power there right now and this could be perceived as them giving up their advantageous position, especially if the Palestinian population becomes larger than the Israeli population, enabling them to form the government for the state. The key would be to have very strong minority protections and civil rights, so that both sides would feel protected and engaged no matter who is heading the government. I actually think this is where this conflict is headed eventually, but it will probably be a very long and very bumpy ride.

What an unbelievable inaccurate and misleading video. The Sinai was exchanged with Egypt in a far-reaching peace deal that remains one of the most successful compromises ever reached in the region. It was not, as suggested in the video, given back due to international pressure over rising oil prices. You have a duty to all your watchers and followers not to provide false information. This video in many places is factually incorrect.

He didn't said its given back due to international pressure over rising oil prices. he just stated historical order to what happened in the "Public Eyes". he said "Part 1: After a ceasefire, oil-exporting Arab countries decide to punish the US and Israel's allies by increasing the price of oil by 70% and decreasing production by 5%. this causes the first oil crisis of 1973. Part 2: Israel under international pressure ceded Sinai back to Egypt and a part of the Golan to Syria" OK the part where i said "Public Eyes", you need to look at this as politician or economist not as Nationalist or Religionists. First you need to visualize the economic situation of the world post World War II era which started with 1944 Bretton Woods Accord (where USA forced UK to make the dollar the new world currency instead of Pound sterling as a condition to help UK against the Germans) now the war ended and USA is even over 50% of the world GDP in the 1950s but the hunger for more money to help USA spread "there way of democracy" against the USSR in Korea Vietnam Cuba and so on as u know all about cold war or even for better quality of life for its own USA citizens the hunger for more money is always endless. As American economist Barry Eichengreen summarized: "It costs only a few cents for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to produce a $100 bill, but other countries had to pony up $100 of actual goods in order to obtain one", in the 60s the growing of the USA economy even with the on going wars in Korea made other countries feel there is something not right with USA economy. In February 1965 the France President Charles de Gaulle announced his intention to exchange its US dollar reserves for gold at the official exchange rate. He sent the French Navy across the Atlantic to pick up the French reserve of gold and was followed by several countries. As it resulted in considerably reducing US gold stock and US economic influence (which indicates that USA was printing more dollar than the deposited gold in there bank), it led US President Richard Nixon to unilaterally pulled out of the Bretton Woods Accord and end the convertibility of the dollar to gold on 15 August 1971 (the "Nixon Shock"). This was meant to be a temporary measure. but this didn't help the dollar to reclaim its strength as it was. so Richard Nixon started the petrodollar recycling scam to help the dollar by inviting Faisal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to USA and negotiating for a deal that makes Saudi Arabia exports crud oil with only USA dollar in exchange for protraction from USA to Saudi Arabia. Later all other OPEC countries started to do the same, exporting the crud oil with only the USA dollar. you see Richard Nixon used basic market mechanisms supply and demand. by connecting the dollar to the oil and making the oil less in the market which in return will make demand for dollar is more to buy the rare oil. after this part of connecting the dollar with oil is done, the 2nd part of the plan had to start "the demand" by making wars that involve oil in it. Daniel Yergin (American author, energy expert, and economic historian) has said that the embargo "remade the international economy". what we call today the " The New International Economic Order " , 1973 the 4th fourth Arab-Israeli war the first oil crisis, 1980 Iran-Iraq War the 2nd oil crisis, 1991 Gulf War, 2003 invasion of Iraq, 2011 Libyan Civil War, i would assume next war either would be Iran or Venezuela since both of them are crud oil exporters and both of them are against USA. Oil-exporting Arab countries leaders did what Richard Nixon asked cause its win win for both sides. The dictators Arab leaders will be seen as good leaders in there citizens eyes as they helped other Arab countries in there wars. and the USA will reaping the benefit of oil shortage in the long run. Peace we earned when we crossed what your people called the strongest defensive line in history The Bar Lev Line, we crossed it in only 2 hours but years of preparation. and if you want to go technical we only lost the war when Israel requested the aid of USA army and they send the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird the fastest air-breathing manned aircraft to take spy photos of the Egyptian army. theaviationist.com/2013/09/01/declassified-sr-71-mix/ I tried to be as neutral and objective as possible, even though I am Egyptian and Muslim, i hope every one sees the bigger picture. Good luck and have a nice day

A peace deal that the US pressured Egypt and Israel to adopting. The Camp David Accords of 1978 was mediated by the US by then President Jimmy Cater. What, do you think Israel and Egypt came to this decision on their own? At many times during the negotiations Egypt and Israel executive officials (Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin) did not see eye to eye but Carters persistence helped to convince them that it was in their countries best interests to consolidate a peace treaty.

Israel did not give up Sinai peninsula until a peace treaty was signed between Egypt and Israel in 1979. The Sinai peninsula was finally returned to Egypt in 1982. Further peace was signed with Jordan 1994 and some Arab states after that.
