The point of my comment was to bring into the light the contradictory nature of what is so often called counter-terrorism, which can lead to more terrorism as some of it's innocent victims (or 'casualties') walk down the path of vengeance, something that I've seen far too often. You are right in that whataboutism leads us nowhere, but without critically analysing the roles of both the perpetrators of terrorism and that of the victims in counter-terrorism, I believe we are doomed to be eternally stuck in a cycle of violence.
