Absolutely wonderful performance of a gorgeous work. I’m ordering a set of parts, but fear it may be too difficult for even good amateurs to play well.
The parts arrived just in time for our quartet session this evening. We sight-read through it and loved it. It's more fun to play than we expected - a real players' composition. We didn't take the second movement at full speed, and we had to stop a few times, but we had a great time and I'd like to try and work it up a bit. For me (cellist), the hardest passage is the 13th bar of the Molto moderato section of the second movement - I haven't yet worked out a good fingering. Your cellist makes it sound easy - light and agile.
Think I've got it. The trick is to play the start of that bar on the A string, go into 6th position on the G#, stay in that position and do the demisemiquaver run across the strings using thumb and second finger, ending up with the third finger playing the final A on the G string.
