Want to know what Israelis and Palestinians in the Middle East really think about the conflict? Ask a question and I will get answers.
People ask Israeli Jews, Arabs and Palestinians questions. I go out and ask random people to answer.

I think he homophobe n just talked more politically correct for the video, he a Israeli chav that we call here "ars", they always talking like that when they need to look nice, but other people in this video are not homophobes I think,but the problem in this video that it's not actually like that here,we have many homophobes too, but many of them more friendly than homophobes from other countries.

As a straight Israeli college student, most people seem to be mature and accepting about it. In high school though there were some very homophobic people that I've known that I tried to keep my distance from. So you have some non-accepting closed minded bigots as well, as you do anywhere else in the world. Surprised Corey happened to come across only nice people, I would have expected one or two non-accepting people in this. This gives hope for social progress. I personally don't know anyone who is gay but I have absolutely no problem with gay people myself.

Rodney Moore why ? Just cuz it's open and gay friendly ? Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, and Syria. They all look miditerranean culturally, climate wise and physically as well. Yet they are middle eastern.

@jfakhroo0
@jfakhroo0 8 лет назад
Rodney Moore yea I got what you mean but would that make Qatar, Dubai, and abudhabi excluded from being middle eastern countries as well just cuz they are very modern, they listen to pop musics and connected to the globe like any other western country ? It just piss me off when people see a modern and educated country they automatically call it westernized. Can we be we without being called something else ? And I don't think people would call any western country Arabized by being rich economically. Did you get my point :/ ?

agreed! definetly nice to see something like this once in a while. the only problems israel faces is between the jewish and muslim rule. because israel was established to be a democratic political system that was not based on islamic faith. and since this has never happened obviously if fucked up the middle east up as a view point that was not islamic was introduced. so they are trying to put it back to islamic rule and enforce sharia law (hope not tho), so yeh, some of the jewish are not as good either but at least they got gay acceptance out there. now we just have to sort out the conflict between islam and the other faiths in Israel. because the idea of it being created was so that religions would have more freedom, because other religions in other middle eastern countries had to follow laws based on the islamic faith instead of their own. and that was why israel was created. so non religious goverment policy could be established so every faith will have more freedom to express their faith and ideologies and practices. Before u had to follow the islamic rules even if u were not muslim and it broke ur faith.

+AMV CBG - "that was why israel was created. so non religious goverment policy could be established so every faith will have more freedom to express their faith and ideologies and practices." Oy veh! Someone needs a history lesson. How much "freedom" do you think a Palestinian has living in a concentration camp in Gaza? Do a little research so you can break free from your Zionist indoctrination. www.bibliotecapleyades.net/sociopolitica/sociopol_americanempire178.htm
@amvCBG

Elle Mercurio that was the idea. i know what is happening with the war and so on. im just saying what was the idea with israel. someone needs there history lesson on the previous states before israel and was jewish. but was bigger and now this one is smaller and oil was given to the opposition but war is still happening. dude. im aware of the facts here. i studied this. im just not on an emotional rampage. the idea was to create a sort of goverment that was free from religions because the jewish did not have that much. actually never mind. it is pointless anyway
@somegirl4631
@somegirl4631 6 лет назад
Elle Mercurio *wrong* 1. there is no concentration camps in Gaza. Gaza is a free land, only the borders with Israel are blocked (like in pakistan and india), they still have the borders with Egypt 2. the amount of freedom they have is based on the PLO, their gov, Israel don't have any control over the people inside, unless they want to work in Israel and than they get a passport and have to go to a checkpoint like any citizens that is trying to cross any state borders. 3. Zionist in hebrow is a PATRIOT. which means your comment made no sense. 4. you talking like some brainwashed thing, pls educat yourself. thank you.

@chromatica5494
@chromatica5494 8 лет назад
Being gay is perfectly normal and is found in almost all other species. If you have some prejudice against gay people, well nobody is forcing you to be gay or to be friends with gay people. You should probably just get on with your own life and let them get on with theirs :) I support countries that support human rights, especially those of minorities (LGBT for example). No other country in the Middle East has such an amazing human rights record as Israel. Whether you disagree with that is your own personal opinion and not fact. You know that Jordan didn't want "Palestinians" in their country? Jordan has killed more "Palestinians" than any other country. Haven't you heard of "Black September"? Israel gives more rights to Palestinians than any other Middle Eastern country. You just hate Israel because you're a typical brainwashed, anti-Semitic, Arab Muslim.

@OfirMusic
@OfirMusic 9 лет назад
***** Nice Try ramio - What Muslims fail to understand is that Judaism is a reformed religion and most jews do NOT follow the Torah in the same sense that Muslims view the Quran. The same applies to the Talmud - most jews have very little idea what the Talmud says. Israelis are mostly secular. There's a Gay Pride march in Israel. Is there one in Cairo? Mecca? Tehran? So it's not a 'try' - it's what it's like. Now let's see what Palestinians say.

The root of the word is "ECHAD", or " YACHAD", which ARE "one", and "together", meaning becoming one I suppose, or getting intimate, also in sexual connotation, which is what they dude meant - I have no problem with gays, apart from getting intimate with one.

I'm not sure but I'm pretty sure that is one of the controversies in Christian theologians were also fighting about because that phrase, whatever it actually means, was used for both and is used a lot in the new testament. I've heard it as meaning either "getting to know each other" (maybe Ancient Greek translations are twisting that meaning as well) and having sex with each other and it was used for people of both gender.

Be careful with dismissing tradition, they are the things that hold us together. Constant radicalism leads to spintlering society. Separation of Church and State is an American tradition worth keeping, the separation of the judiciary from the law makers is important, the tradition of marriage seems beneficial to people, I'm an athiest and I *love* Christmas because its time with my family and a tradition worth keeping. I agree *never* revising traditions is bad but don't forget your very society and life was built on the traditions of thousands of years worth of civilisation, there is definitely some stuff you want to keep.
@MrDzoni955
@MrDzoni955 8 лет назад
How about this... First of all, change =/= progress by default. Just because some bad behavior is being accepted, doesn't mean that's good now. Tradition is extremely important for a society to function normally, and more often that not, revolutionary changes damage the society more than they help it(so it's always sad when a revolution is needed, history proves that the most successful revolutions are often the bloodiest and don't necessarily help in long turns). Try and make a parallel between tradition and language: language is a tradition - it's just empty conventions that have to be obeyed in order for people to communicate. Those conventions are not set in stone, but they have to change slowly and naturally(same goes for principals of thought and behavior in a society) or people won't be able to understand each other correctly, or even at all. You can just change the meaning of a word overnight, or relativise any word or rule. An apple has to be an apple and everyone has to know what it means. You can't change it to table, or use the same word(exp: "love") in bunch of different contexts incorrectly. Tradition exists and will always exist, it has been there in every society from the beginning of human history as we know it, and is another very important aspect of communication. If you force "progress", make everything relative, and change everything, understanding within people will slowly(or not so slowly, in our times of fast info and easy manipulation) vanish, and apathy will grow as a result. So, I highly disagree with your black/white opinion on tradition. It is technically the opposite of progression only if it's set in stone, which is not the case. It was not the case even in the Bible! You can see human behavior and thought process changing through time(because it covers long period of time), and God didn't have problem with that. Even if you dismiss the Bible, we will witness the fall of western civilisation thanks to "progressive" ideologies, not tradition or religion.

@jasondanielfair2193 3 года назад
Correct. Good spot. Although I'm not mad at the translation because as a verb, "t'chabed" is used a lot more in Hebrew than "respect" is used in English. The Hebrew version means nuances of respect and has some religious/biblical undertones. So to respect someone sort of naturally means to act like a friend. Perhaps I would also say they meant it in a temporal capacity...not like become his friend, but act as a friend/helper/one of the tribe if he needs something.

LOL, "the love Israelis feel in their hearts".. He picked the open-minded ones. You should hear what religious Jews think about gays, and I'm saying this as an Israeli. They think they can "fix" gay people, and that they're gay for sexual pleasure only. And that's only what they think about gays, you should see how they treat women. I was once in Bnei Brak, with not-so decent clothes (...), literally all the Hasidim treated me like I was sub-human or something, but that's not new they always treat me that way. Do you know how it feels like to walk in the street in the 21st century, and have Hasidic man treat you like a leper ? Only because you're a woman? They can't even walk on the same sidewalk, they actually go off of it and walk on the roadway to avoid walking in a fair distance from a secular woman.

tvee 100% agree. But the problem is not their nationality, they don't give a fuck about our country (that's why they don't work or recruit to the army). The problem is their idiotic beliefs. I don't have a problem with Reform Jews or the other sane Jewish movements, I have a problem with the Orthodox Jews. They bring our economy down, we pay extra taxes to finance their 13 children (each), from our own pockets. Now why should I pay extra money for a bunch of lazy loafers who hate me (and believe me it's mutual), and are literally the cause for everything that is wrong with my country. Because of them I had to study the Tanah (The Bible) at high school although I'm an atheist, I can't use public transport in Saturday and most of Friday, I can't marry a non-Jewish person (there are no civil-weddings in Israel- so Gay people can't get married as well) . On top of all that Kosher slaughtering is extremely cruel and etc etc etc

We've got a lot of issues, like any other nation, but in this way I'm glad to see that we've maintained progressivism, acceptance, and love towards LGBT people in most elements of society. Also, compared to the opinions of our neighbours on this subject, it paints an unfortunate difference in culture of acceptance....

First of all you don't spek or understand Hebrew. Second of all as Corey mentioned on the outset, he intentionally interviewed people he assumed might be more willing to accept LGBTQ. As a Religious Jew I am against the LGBTQ in Israel. In addition 10 people in one RU-vid video does not nearly cover the 8 million people in Israel.

It is a quite complicated topic. Cause not accepting gay people is also a kind of their own opinion and based on their own human right, meaning that I can't order them not to hate gay people or I can't say that you must accept gay people. I personally think the answer which two men in this video mentions is quite right. Cause they also have the right for not agreeing with gay people.
@FaTexXThunderXx
@FaTexXThunderXx 7 лет назад
Yes they have the right to think that by law, but we also have the right to ridicule and berate them for their opinions. That's how it works, you put your opinion into a public sphere, you're accepting the possibility of blowback.

official surveys of the israeli institute of democracy point to roughly 55% that support full marital equality, and additional 25% support civil union with equal rights. so this is pretty reflective. note that as he says at the beginning, if it was asked in tel aviv, the support would be greater than that of kim jung un in north korean elections. great job Corey.

It's actually went up to 70% of Israeli citizens who support full gay rights in Israel.

As an Israeli gay guy living in Tel Aviv, I know there are a lot of Israelis who accept gays. However that doesn't translate to equal rights, LGBTQ education, battling hate crimes, and a lot of other issues. There are still people murdered here for being gay or transgender (even in a pride parade in Jerusalem in the last decade). And of course when people are interviewed on camera, they usually act nicer, more diplomatic and respectful then they would talk freely in their private lives or online. Go to nearly every LGBTQ-related article in Hebrew online and you will see hundreds of hate-speech comments, guaranteed... And we still grow up in a society where "gay" is the most common slur used. Israel (and particularly Tel Aviv), is still the best place for LGBTQ people in the Middle East, but we still have a long, long way to go.

Never heard so much crap in my life!!! You make it sounds like Israel is this horrific place where most Israelis are homophobic and gay people are being murdered all the time... LOL!!! It's actually so far from the truth in reality! The people in this video are not being "diplomatic", and they do represent the vast majority of Israelis, who do not care if you're gay or not. More than 70% of Israelis are in favor of gay marriages, and hate crimes against the LGBTQ community is extremely low compared to other countries in the west! There's no such thing as a country with no homophobia, but to try and paint Israel as one of the worst, is just plain wrong! Maybe the problem is with you and your grim look at life...

The thing that makes me happy is that the religious boys, even that it goes againt tjeir beliefes, they wont attack or stop talking to the person who is lgbt. They will accept the person, they wont agree, but thats what thats important. That even if someone goes against their opinions they wont attack them. I think its a lot more important than actually accepting.

I wonder why they all start smiling with embarrassment and turn red as soon as the question is asked? if you ask them what do you think of straight people... there would be nothing to smile about. They're just regular people.... So when are we going to start treating gay people like regular people too? Because it shouldn't make anyone uncomfortable.

Sexuality in general makes people feel uncomfortable... I'm pretty sure most people will be at least a bit embarrassed talking to a stranger about anything involving sexuality, doesn't matter if the subject is LGBT, BDSM, threesoms etc.. As long as it involves sexuality people will giggle as if they're kids 🤷‍♂️

It's very interesting. From the questions you pose to each culture, one set will be mostly open minded or even embracing, while the other set will be the opposite on the same question. Both sets seem very equal in their level of progressive/conservative thought, just different concerning different topics. If they were ever able to settle their differences and blend the best of both cultures they would have a paradise.
