Want to know what Israelis and Palestinians in the Middle East really think about the conflict? Ask a question and I will get answers.
Arabs from the Middle East ask Israelis questions. I go out and ask random people to answer. Ihab from Syria in the Facebook group Yala-Young Leaders asked "do you think Jewish settlements in the West Bank are a good idea or bad idea?"

In Israel it's depends where you ask that question. in Tel aviv most of the people against settlements, in Jerusalem most people support the settlements.

+Imran Khan Please explain to me why the Jews were forced to leave Israel in the past ?Why do some Jews were forced to convert to Islam ? Why Israel which historically belongs to Jews should be ruled by Muslims who don't define themselves as Palestinians and most of them came ( originaly) from Syria, Egypt and Saudi Arabia ? and if Israel did not exist, it is most likely that the territory you like to name Palestine was a part of the invented Jordanian kingdom or a part of Egypt, or in the worst case was controlled by ISIS
@shabeki

+rotem shaull You seem to imply that the Muslims kicked the Jews out of thr Middle East. That is patently false. The actions of others shouldn't cause Israel to war against Muslims.

I have the question "would you accept a Palestinian state in the West Bank and Jordan" for Palestinians. I have only 4 interviews so far. All said no. Palestinians here want a one state solution- one binational state (which Jews are not willing to do). However many are willing to compromise on a Palestinian state in the WB and Gaza.
@alexsheppard153

Your bias is so strong. We get it, you're a "liberal" Jewish Israeli. You don't examine the raw facts that Palestinians were displaced by the creation of your country. Just put yourself in their shoes: in 1947 Palestinian Arabs were 70% of the population and owned 95% of the land, and the UN, with zero consultation, determined that the 70% Palestinian Arabs should get 45% of the land and the 30% Jews should get 55% of the land. You'd also be upset and you'd also fight that.

Well, that is how it goes in war... Nations capture land. With regard to the West Bank, first Jordan took it, then Israel. Besides, as the so-called Palestinians declined the area, it was up for grabs. And it is strategically and historically an important place for the Israelis. It's tragic for the Palestinians, of course, but they could have had it, and they said no.

Are any of you fuckin nutters advocating land theft aware of international law? It is illegal in the modern age to just take someones land, especially through war. Territories are to be handed back, not kept.
@Light-vu6ws
@Light-vu6ws 7 лет назад
I thought those settlements were illegal, right? There was an agreement.
@Light-vu6ws
@Light-vu6ws 7 лет назад
Actually, under the "Fourth Geneva Convention" in 1949: "Articles 47-78: impose substantial obligations on occupying powers. As well as numerous provisions for the general welfare of the inhabitants of an occupied territory, an occupier may not forcibly deport protected persons, or deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into occupied territory (Art.49)". The West Bank is Palestinian occupied territories. This treaty has been and is still recognized by the international community. Only Israel doesn't agree to it right now even though it has signed the treaty. Therefore, those settlements are indeed illegal.
@Light-vu6ws

Eraser They are in deed and in fact. The problem is there is no internal enforcement (by Israel). And no international enforcement (by the US & EU). So it's a theoretical point. Furthermore, it makes for a bad partnership when one side is aggressively settling while land negotiation is a key point. So all this bullshit talk about let's have a two state solution. And We don't want to take all the land. And The Arabs don't want to deal. Total nonsense. Illegal Land grabbing has killed Hope.

Two reasons for this: Almost all Israelis want Israel to be considered a Jewish state. That means a state dedicated for the Jewish people. Even though most Israelis are secular, The calendar is Jewish, the cultures are Jewish. And people want to preserve that. Jews have been an abused minority around the world for 2000+ years and want self-determination.

The problem is politics and that's the only problem: In 1967, when Judea and Samaria were obtained (freed from the Jordanian occupation or occupied, depending on your political view) a new situation arose, in which giving the locals equal rights meant giving them a lot of political power, to the point of "losing the Jewish state". The settlers simply make an "in your face" point to the politicians, forcing them to agree to share power. Eventually this will turn Israel to a bi-national state, whether you like it or not. And it is not necessary a bad thing. The only other option is to fight it out until the end, because Jews cannot divvy up Jerusalem and Arabs will fight to the death over "Al Aksa", even though its a fiction. So realistically speaking, this will end up in a bi-national state and that's it.

When i read your comment people who believe in sionism It's always the same thing Speaking about the land Not the country or the people living there as if it is an empty land where there is no one It is funny when you said freed from jordanian occupation Jordan after 1948 took care of the refugees there with the help of the un and donations of peope who fleed their villages and lost their properties ,their life ,their jobs ..... So in the west bank after 1948 many of the people in refugee camps or in houses built by donations Israel invaded them again in 1967 with military with killing and expelling and deplacement again and every thing Then you say freed from jordan occupation This is the sickness of the idiology that made you blind unable to see the souffrances of people All that you care about is taking the land and throwing the people It wil end in a bi-national country you don't have any choice because the situation can not continue in the 21 century this way it is shamfull But your gouvernment had special calculations to keep a jewish majority You can not expect what they will do

According to a recent poll, 44% of Israelis are now supportive of reestablishing Jewish settlements in Gaza. You think this small sampling he pulls of mostly liberal Israelis is representative? It's not. The Washington-based Pew Research centre, a non-partisan think-tank which carried out face-to-face interviews with 5,601 adults from October 2014 through May 2015, asked whether “Arabs should be expelled or transferred from Israel”. Half of the Jewish respondents strongly agreed or agreed with that statement, with approximately the same numbers opposing the notion.

Jordan tried to destroy Israel and lost, so now it's Israel! what so bad in that? Why you shouldn't settle in your land! Jordan don't even want this cursed west bank becouse it's population really aggressive and made lots of conflicts in Jordan in the past!

"Belongs to Muslims?" That is ridiculous. What gives Americans the right to live in Dallas, Texas, which once was part of Mexico. If you attack and lose, that's what happens. Syria and Jordan and Egypt threatened to destroy Israel in 1967. Jordan illegally occupied Jerusalem and Judea for nineteen years! ( from 1948 to1967) And the only country in the world that "recognized" the Jordanian occupation of Jerusalem as "legitimate" was PAKISTAN!! BTW, when Jordan violently occupied Jerusalem in 1948, Jerusalem had a Jewish majority of the population since 1840. Jerusalem had a Jewish majority EVERY YEAR, except the 19 year Jordanian illegal occupation. Jordan forcibly expelled, ethnically cleansed EVERY Jewish man, woman and child from ancient Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem and destroyed the beautiful historic Hurva Synagogue and 55 other synagogues and yeshivot

Jews never left Israel. There has been a constant Jewish present since before Judea, for thousands of years. Israel is the native land of the Jews, where Judaism became established and Hebrew. Every other native population is understood by that criteria. Palestinians are Arabs from neighbouring countries, there has never been a Palestinian state, they have rejected every offer of one. You do not own land that was never yours and that you have rejected.

I think any honest and reasonable person would have to say that neither side is without sin. I don't agree with everything Israeli does, but I do at least understand why they do what they do, and at any rate, do see Israel as having a legitimate right to exist, and defend it.

@kobilibero6007
@kobilibero6007 8 лет назад
+Michael Kofman But now for real. To start with you need to understand that the main problem is that the west bank in in a weird limbo statusץ One the one hand, after 1948 it was annexed by Jordan, but they gave up rights when they made peace with Israel. On the other hand, Israel took the west bank at 1967, but never annexed it so even under local laws it's a bit of building outside of official "Israel". On the third hand, while the Palestinians claim the west bank as part of Palestine, for now there is no coherent control over it, and the lack of centralized power and clearly defined borders makes them much less of a "State". (Not saying if there should or should not be one, that's politics. What I speak about are more objective terms on the current situations) Now for the reasons, I can think of three main ones: 1. Before 1948 there were Jewish villages in the west bank, which fled to the newly born Israel once the territory became part of Jordan. However when Israel took it in 1967 some of those villages "rebuilt" themselves. In their eyes they were the one who got expelled (again, making it clear, in THIER eyes, I'm trying to be objective here RU-vid don't start a useless flame war) 2. Strategy. Israel is located in the Middle East, a lovely place if civil unrest and wars are your thing. If they continue to control the west bank they gain a strategic advantage due to the terrain of the West Bank. 3. While Israel is by far a secular nation, it's not as if there are no religion people. And in Israel (Just as any other country I know) Conservatives will sit in a coalition with religious parties if it'll secure the elections. So by turning a blind eye they do increase their public support among certain sectors. However it's important to note this trend is going down extremely fast. How fast? The current Israeli government coalition holds 61/120 sits of their legislative body (the Knesset). That's an extremely thin coalition and it does show a trend in shifting public opinion. I hope I answered your question, I tried to present the fact as objectively as possible

Long ago there were two peoples who hated each other: the Catholic French from the North Canada Colony, and the Protestant English from Lower Canada Colony; 2 different languages, two different faiths, two different cultures. Riots, and bloodshed stained the history between these two colonies, until one day they decided to cut their shit. They unified under a federal system, that made everyone Canadian, but gave the two regions (now provinces) partial self governance. Today, Canada is one of the most pleasant nations in the world. Perhaps what the Israelis and people of Palestine need to do is cut their shit, and federalize.
@MickTheQuickk

The difference is that New Brunswick and Ontario are not sending terrorist raiders across the border into Quebec (and vice versa). The way the mindset is in Israel/Palestine, there could not be one state with two peoples unless border crossings were tightly controlled. Maybe one day in the future, but not now.

Canada was organized (territories and colonies) federated against American Expansion..see 54-40 or Fight they wanted the whole continent....see American Mexican war...yes they call it the Mexican American War...guess who the perpetrators were? Definitely not the same thing. We dont know real reason reason by the UK gave such a hot contested area to a religious cult Zionism There was never much bloodshed between Quebec and English Canada. They realized they were abandoned by France and did the best they could but still had a deep distrust for the British colonies/English. Try Northern Ireland/ Ireland...even that dosnt work...with the fuck up called Israel
@MickTheQuickk
@MickTheQuickk 8 лет назад
Zoch Buppet Actually, the UK didn't "give" anything to the Jews. They just said that they would support a Jewish homeland in Palestine. Also, the early Zionists were not a "religious cult". They were mostly atheists who were looking for a solution to centuries of antisemitism in Europe which had gotten particularly bad in the late 1800s.

There is nothing wrong with anybody building homesteads on frontier land. It is unowned land for the claiming. Homesteading is a claim of private property, not a claim of nationhood. In other words you are claiming it as your private property, not in the name of any nation. However, the land of Judea and Samaria belongs to Israel due to the victory of the war with Jordan. I would say the natives of that land still have a right to their own state even though Jordan didn't give it to them, but they have been unable or refused to do so with Israel and that has clearly gone nowhere. Thus I suggest one state to the west of the Jordan River called "Israel" and one state to the east of the Jordan River "Jordan".Israel has not exercised their right to annex the land after the war. Instead a two tiered system is setup with the muslims living under the PLO. If there is any "apartheid" that is it. In order to extend full rights and end the two tiered system Israel would need to disband the PA that it created and annex Judea and Samara. From there I suggest the state-less Muslims be given permanent citizenship in Israel and a negotiated citizenship in Jordan so they can choose to stay or go.

And I corrected your mistake. Jordan was never Palestine. What you meant to say is that the British merged Palestine and TransJordan to create the "British MANDATE of Palestine" for the purpose of controlling more territory. Yet even "merged" TransJordan and Palestine were still separated politically, culturally and geographically. In fact you would still need your passport stamped if you were a Palestinian entering into TransJordan. Now your "fact" has been adjusted to reality.

SUGGESTIONS, PALESTINE AND ISRAEL SO ONE STATE Jerusalem and its surroundings have been shaped by many historical events of several thousand years. If one party demands "absolute", up to several thousand more years will not be completed. One way to solve, BOTH PARTIES WITH REQUESTING ABSOLUTE DESIRE, BUT CAN RECEIVE. The countries of the world are various tribes, religions, it is awkward to be here like this. If necessary, the middle eastern countries, the countries of the world are pushing this initiative. Advantages for Palestine and Israel, they are peaceful, advanced, the world is not always troubled. WISE STEP II Besides "unlimited excuses" too, the Gaza Strip, joining Israel too. This is our feedback, thank you.

Of course it is a good idea. However, it is a bad question. The land belongs to Israel. Who has the right to ask Israel to give it up? Liars? Hypocrites? Thieves? Good people respect Israel's ownership of the land. Good people don't want their land stolen from them.
