When you’re finished reviewing the bleach series i think a follow up series that would be really nice to Here you’re take on would be hunter hunter or Berzerk
I haven’t watched/read Bleach since it was originally released…. I put on TYBW the other day and HOLY SHIT. Every scene is beautiful. The opening, the introduction of the Sternritten.. the Yomomoto banks I release. Actually crazy.
98% sure that was a small point that Kubo was trying to make despite the fact that Aizen had been just treated as an intellectual god basically all series. It was very nice to see indeed. Unnecessary compared to what Kubo had done in the past, but very welcome nonetheless
There is a first time for everything. Lol. But really, it's definitely a good thing. Aizen's experiments just happened to end up resulting in the existence of Ichigo. So even though Aizen knew about Ichigo from birth, and made all of his fights up the point of facing Aizen happen, he didn't plan for Ichigo's conception. That would have been way too much lol
Very few people put enough respect on Masaki's name for that concealed carry bow shot. Also it's wild to me that Gin knew who Ichigo was the whole time. When Ichigo walked through the Seireitei gate the first time, Gin was thinking "Oh god. Not that kid"
Lmao that makes me imagine that when Gin just pushed Ichigo out of the soul society with his zanpakuto, the he was thinking “bruh, just go away, I’m not trying to deal with this right now”.
The anime's OST does something manga couldn't possibly do. Theme that plays when Masaki joins to fight against White, is much softer and more sentimental version of the Wandenreich march. The latter version played during Quilge's introduction. And this allows to draw parallels between these two moments. Both of them are featuring quincy facing off against hollows. But, while Masaki fights defending herself and Isshin, Quilge's rampage is completely unnecessary: those arrancars possessed no threat to Wandenreich's plans. Masaki kills White as if putting him to sleep and putting him out of the misery. While Quilge just outright murders defenceless hollows leaving them to die bleeding. Masaki is ready to put her own life at risk to protect the other one while Quilge is a fanatic that takes joy and pride in killing those who are weaker than him. So much that acquiring more power is basically everything he's thinking about, even if it turns him into an abomination. These two moments pretty much show how twisted and corrupted the name of the Quincy became.
Witnessing white in the anime is such a gorgeous treat, the flashback so far is so interesting and it makes you want to learn a lot more about Ichigo's origin and his mother too.. Flashback like these are needed a lot to progress the character's individual story..
Completely off topic but I figured Tommo’s comment section would be the best place to theorize, what if in Hell Arc Shunsui gifts Ichigo a “pseudo” captain’s cloak for either Squad 10 because of Isshin or Squad 13 because of his ties with Rukia and Ukitake so that he’ll have the same level of authority as a captain when he’s in Soul Society and he’ll have authority over soul reapers that operate in his town. Just some food for thought because all the fodder soul reapers never recognize him but if they saw the captain’s cloak they wouldn’t question him at all. He’s already proven himself to be qualified for the status and I can see Shunsui making an executive decision like that. I just wanna see our boy rocking the white cloak like his pops tbh and I feel like we’d get hilarious interactions between him, Byakuya, and Toshiro since they both hate how he doesn’t address them as captains
Man, if I had a nickel for every flashback character that was possessed by one of Aizen’s hollows, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.
@Raiko's Husband & Monster Girls Addicted Lover Yep, if Aizen hadn't stirred shit, then Soul Society wouldn't have trained at all, Ichigo might not have existed, the Arrancars wouldn't have been a thing, not that the human characters did that much but they too wouldn't have been involved, everything would have been swept by even minor Quincy's. Of course, everything was powerscaled through every arc, this would only happen if the power was the same for Quincy Clan and Soul Society when they were introduced. It's kinda like Dragon Ball. If Raditz wasn't the Saiyan they fought first, they'd have all died. Piccolo wouldn't have trained Gohan, Goku wouldn't have had the opportunity to train with King Kai and the Z Warriors wouldn't have trained with Popo, meaning Nappa or Vegeta would have slaughtered them like every other enemy they faced before, with ease.
The change to Ranigiku's opening was probably just cost cutting. Multiple background characters with lines and a complicated interaction (taking the tray, throwing the tray, the tray being caught, kicking the tray) can all be cut down to just "Rangiku kicks a tree."
So NO Improvements, huh? Kido, Story, Sternritter, just a vast Treasure-Drove of Constructive Criticism that the Show of course got cause it was popular and had 'ended' for a long while, but none of it s used?!
When Masaki thought to herself if all Soul Reapers are all like Isshin, I was sad because Quincies eaten or killed by Hollows have their souls completely destroyed and she will never head to the Soul Society in order to meet Isshin and the rest of the family… my lip quivered for her
Despite this Isshin has said "I could never face Masaki if..." so... I'm wondering what surprises might be waiting in the future. If there isn't a surprise here, then there's no real reason for Isshin to say this. If I remember correctly this is after Ichigo remembers how Masaki died. I think the best chance for a plot twist is that when a memory is erased (maybe young Ichigo's memory) the person affected basically invents a new memory. Young Ichigo invented a memory (maybe) which he later recovered more of, so was he making up additional memories or were they real memories? This seems just possible enough for me to keep a close watch on upcoming details.
Someone pointed this out and I find it interesting: the color surrounding Aizen both in this episode and back when Yhwach met him was not purple; it's Indigo; as in the first kanji of "Aizen"s name".
The answer to why Aizen gets away with the secret lab I believe is that everyone is under Kyoka Suigetsu by this point since Aizen is a captain. He was able to get away with a lot while still being a lieutenant, but now everyone has witnessed his shikai at least during his promotion.
43:36 - Seeing the way that the explosion was contained (with such a wall-like shape) makes me wonder if Isshin cast a Danku without incantation in order to protect Masaki
I mean, thats the entire endgoal of all these added scenes isnt it? Not dropping Uruyu somewhere in the middle of it like "Btw, Uruyu´s here" and letting us wonder until the near end what he even wants to do.
as an anime only viewer, i personally thought that this was the best episode yet or at least it rivals episode 7 for the best. i understand there was a lot cut and hearing some of the things that were cut it kinda disappointed me but still it felt very smooth and it felt that the pacing of this episode was perfect even with its quick and fast nature
I’m glad people like you are still able to enjoy it. I thought it was great as well, but my knowledge of the manga before watching the episode definitely dampened my enjoyment a little bit. But again, it’s still great and it got the job done.
Love the enthusiasm you bring with the recap of the episode. Not only to I get more insights into the story, but also the excitement you have for material really elevates the content!
where have they hidden the laboratory you say?? well, if Aizen used kyoka suigetsu, he could have it in front of the seireitei gate and NOBODY would see it..
One of the things I loved about the OG Bleach is that, during the first few episodes/arcs, we got those informational footnotes even in the anime. I just wish VIZ did that as well here in TYBW. (Also I believe Bleach also had a different subtitle font back then)
@@cution97 yeah I think it’s possible I feel that the next two parts will have more additional scenes. Let’s be real the first part needs the least additions compared to the later parts.
Nice name it makes you wonder why his and ichigo's swords have similar names but there's something that everyone has forgotten during (the aizen fight Is that isshin said that zangetsu wouldn't teach him and ichigo the same abilities) now I'm not sure what he meant by that weather he meant bankai or final getsuga tensho no really knows.
@@carloscruzartchannel5345 hmm I mean they did add a completely brand new anime-only adaptation of the previous Gotei 13 so theirs a chance tbh but it would’ve made sense to keep the Bankai line in that case since it was a tease./foreshadowing that we might see it. Nonetheless, we are aware that every captain rank Shinigami posses a Bankai, unless they’re like Zarakie so one can argue that bankai line wasn’t necessary anyway but we’ll find out sooner or later haha
They a decent amount of stuff from this episode, but I still really enjoyed the episode!! The rain was beautiful and loved the purple lighting for Azien. Masaki was also a badass. The end credit scene was so awesome, the rain, then uryu, then Haswalth, simply amazing.
So 0 Improvements, huh? Kido, Story, Sternritter, just a vast Treasure-Drove of Constructive-Criticism that the Show of course got cause it was popular and had 'ended' for a long while, but none of it s used?
44:22 It seems kind of obvious... In the episode (and I assume the manga as well) they mention that they gave hollows the ability to hollowify their targets, and they mention how White "chose" a Quincy, and that he self-destructed (almost as if by design). White was clearly engineered to find a worthy successor (or stronger opponent), pass on the hollowification to them, and then self-destruct.
The self destruct part may be similar to nemu. As without the brain, her body goes out of control. Because it's weird that it almost killed the person it infected
@@quinnimon but tosen said that white's ability is to hollowfy it's target. so doesn't it mean that they are intending to make a hollow shinigami hybrid using white? But instead of completing it's purpose on a shinigami white instead choose Quincy as a target, which angers tosen. At least that's what I understand from the episode. Tosen also said something about white reaching the metastasis stage on masaki, metastasis from what I search is about the spreading of cancer cell. So doesn't it mean that white is meant to infect and take over others?
I really wish Ichigo's dad would have been involved in more battles especially seeing his on son turn into not one but 2 demonic hollow forms it would have given him and Ichigo a bigger father and son bond and plus them going more into there shikai and bankais power being similar in names engetsu and zangetsu.
Just a side note: Not sure which translation source your anime is from, but I'm getting different subs from Amazon Prime. On AP, the subs are closer to the original manga translation. Details like Oetsu Nimaiya's name, Echt being subbed as "Pure" blood quincy, quincy ability names, among other things. Including some footnotes.
Why is no one talking about how Isshin contained that explosion, which is him casting Danku. It is clearly visually presented in the ankme since the explosion is shown to be perfectly "halfed", which is what usually what explosions looks like when it is blocked by a Danku. Like that is the only time he is shown using Kido.
I think the reason they have the scene the opening of that flashback is it lines up with isshin saying to ichigo that his mother was a Quincy and then the flashback starts like normal
Now, that’s not at all important: But how does Kaname Tōsen work in that lab? I get he can fight by sensing reiatsu. But can he work on computers? Does Aizen’s lab come with voice over? 😅
Funnily enough, in og Bleach where most of the episodes had after-credits scenes or sketches or something else, in one there's a joke about Tousen playing chess with others, using binoculars and other "how can a blind man do that"-stuff.
Now that i rewatched this it'd be insane if they released the last 2 episodes in theaters along with the next courts first episode for when it comes back just like they did with demon slayer. It'd be stunning.🔥✨
I always thought eisen's lab was in the human world because this is where white was released. But I don't know there is no real indication of where this place is at least in the anime.
They can probably make more money getting a condensed package of quality episodes processed for distro and in less time with no filler arcs. Time is also money so the sooner the Saga gets done the better and more profit everyone makes. Also TYBW is super condensible it’s insane.

There's still three more cours. And even as a og fan I prefer this pace much more. My only gripes in og Bleach back then were that it had lot of needless padding and unfortunate timing of airing while manga was unfinished (I do love Zanpakuto Rebellion and Reigai tho, but everything else, bleh)
I am a bit miffed that everything to do with Isshin's Bankai and the reiatsu-concealing cloaks was cut because without those details, Aizen's backslash makes no real sense here. Also, if the pacing is this tight, then I guess I can expect no real expansion on the Ishida family in this flashback, which is somewhat disappointing. EDIT: Personally, on the whole, I think they could stand to axe less of the comedy, especially since I feel the anime might get too self-serious and lose a bit of the manga's goofy charm.
Well, it's been pretty clear already that this is aimed for the old fans more Second thing is mostly subjective matter. In my opinion the less comedy, the better.
So as we know, Ichigo's Bankai and Shikai were technically his Quincy or Hollow powers right? Correct me if i'm wrong, but when Byakuya initially commented that Ichigo's Bankai wasn't a Bankai, he was telling the truth. Would it be inaccurate to say that Ichigo's Bankai is closer to a Quincy's Vollständig or Letzt Stil?
I guess I always thought that Unagi was some boss/smash piece of Ichigo during that timeframe based on their interactions and his complete lack of actually working, but still having a job.
but what did he pass onto a quincy? theres a scene in the anime after white is defeated where kanamei is upset, that it reached its final metastasize phase, and it passed it onto a quincy, meaning masaki. when it bit her i assume. i bet thats how ichigo got his hollow powers, from aizens experiment here.
This is what it’s like when Anime moves at the pace of a Manga and honestly I don’t like it. I’m not watching this because I am interested in the plot or the reveals as I’ve already read the manga. I want development of cool scenes, I want new scenes that add either more context or enjoyable interactions. I want to enjoy long scenes of iconic moments (that were only a panel formerly) with beautiful background music and great voice acting. That’s why I prefer the One Piece anime to the manga, because while it does have problems with pacing due to needing to let the manga get ahead it also allowed me to get connected to the story and characters that I don’t feel I would be able to with the animated tybw if I hadn’t already read the manga.
i must say, i was a little dissapointed by this episode. everything moved so fast, choreography, fight moments and even some more dramatic moments imho actually fell flat and lost impact because nothing was given room to breathe and build tension that the manga manages to do. in fact this has been an issue that has creeped in thorughout this whole season in some moments, but i think it never truly made a significant impact until this episode. while the result wasnt bad per se, i expected more from the production on such a special segment of the arc.
This episode made me look at Tosen differently, he too was a scientist it seems. I always thought that Aizen made him a visored with the hogyoku as well but what if he experimented on himself? Would explain why he was only happy about his eyesight, not the power boost he got.
Wow what a great catch by that commenter! I didn't even think twice about them having their zanpakuto out. By now I had almost forgotten.. Kudos to them!
Wasn't it that Ichigo being around his friends in the early days that awakened some latent powers in them and enabled them to see spirits/hollows/shinigami/etc. (Chad & Inoue, and to a lesser extent Keigo and Tatsuki)? So maybe Ichigo had been around Ikumi enough that she can now see his badge (maybe she couldnt have been able to see it as Ichigo arrived, but could once Isshin got there).
Now that we have seen both of Ichigos parents have a piece of the poem each, I'm more inclined to believe they're both talking about Ichigo being the sun
for Masaki Ichigo is without sin, like the Sun and for Isshin even with sin, Ichigo is like the Sun To Isshin Ichigo to is without sin, in this part for me he (Isshin) is talking how Ichigo fell like he is the one who caused the death of his mother, his sin.
My understanding of the poem is the First one is what masaki think of isshin, Like a sun Second poem is what isshin think of masaki, again like a sun the sin part is im assuming the hollow inside masaki since masaki has a hollow inside.
My guess for the reason for the change to how she found him would be so he looks more lazy, or at least has a worse excuse for trying to take the day off, since in the chapter he did actually look like his nose was hurt, where here it’s much more obvious he’s faking being hurt to try to get out of work.
Witht he next episode being 60 mins (essentially 3 episodes in 1), I'm now confident in saying that season 1 is ending with the Last 9 Days and the second invasion cliffhanger.
I actually think they may end off on Chapter 546. if you remember the first trailer of the TYBW, they include Yhwach saying a line he said in chapter 546, the beginning of the second invasion ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1sygUhb8Q2Y.html
I think that would be best to end the first episode of cour 2 on. They’d have to rush through/cut out A LOT if they want to reach that point in this cour. And it’s best to have the wait for the second invasion to begin be longer. It literally just ended not too long ago. To have it begin almost immediately in the anime would be too quick.
you would think Toshiro and Rangiku would notice Isshin when they visited Ichigos house in the past (arrancar arc).... and you know, REACT to seeing their former captain who just disappeared years ago.
I liked this arc in the manga, as I haven't seen TYBW yet, because it revealed that Isshin was the Captian of squad 10. Which should have been obvious since the Turn Back The Pendulum arc. Plus anyone who believes that White looks the way he does was not intentional and has not to do with Ichigo's full hollowfication is crazy.
I know you are being flippant, but I don't think Chad killed everyone in the building he hit in episode 1. Yes, he may have knocked out their power and maybe reduced their Zillow rating, but I don't think he killed anyone. Same here, I think the power went out, and property damage occurred, but there is no evidence that a building full of people were made casualties.
You do know, Kubo is highly involved in this adaptation right? He told the director he can cut all the comedy and reviews every episode. According to them both. The director asked him before any changes or cut content. This is still essentially a Kubo creation.
I'm pretty sure Tōsen mentioned specifically that White jumped ahead to his metastatic phase, which was beyond their expectations. In that case, maybe White's core was meant to eventually pass itself along when his body was destroyed, but it happened sooner than the terrible trio would have liked, and White passed its core onto a Quincy as opposed to a Shinigami.
The missing gin aizen kaname conversation really hurt the episode for me. Its still amazing 9/10 episode but it could of been a 9.5 if they actually showed that
This is just my opinion but I think it mightve been more interesting if Ichigo went to tatsuki instead of ikumi. Theyve been friends forever and she doesn't really know about his shinigami side. I think tatsuki wouldve been better.
That's so stupid. They have no reason to not tease the Bankai, we don't get to see every Bankai ever and he's still a Captain so the fact that he HAS one is tease enough. That was one of the best parts about this whole interaction too, they really fucked up by removing that for no good reason at all - because not wanting to tease it is absolutely not a good reason. Literally everything else that was cut could have been cut before Isshin teasing his Bankai. A close second if not worse is the insistence to remove comedy at the sacrifice of personality and character development with their intro scene.
If shinigami can live for over a thousand years, why does everyone look like teenagers only 20 years in the past? I mean 20 years for someone who can live for a thousand years is more like a day right?
Im really glad i found your channel man really good content and the fact that you have a lot of knowledge when it comes to the manga/lore makes the content even better keep up the amazing work
I think the shinigami training montage will be moved to the first episode of the second cour with the beginning of the second invasion being either a end of episode cliffhanger or a post credits tease. However i woukd not be surprised if they omit the kensei shuhei stuff entirely
Did it ever get stated how both Toshiro and Matsumoto didn’t recognise Issin when the came to the living world and went to school? I’ve always wondered about that
We have to be honest: we deserved at least 80 episodes. There's so much things that I wish was added in. Example: The explanation that after Yama's bankai had been stolen, he couldn't use Ryujin Jakka anymore (as all his flames were gone); a more detailed backstory to the royal palace/zero division powers; full episode of Unohana x Zaraki... I'm loving the story and understand 80 episodes was not possible, but it would be so great
seems majority of the cuts are unnecessary comedic violence LOL which ive always hated since it's basic and nothing interesting so i dont mind it gone at all lol
No but for real those people with lights on definitely died like if you remember earlier on we see a hollow damaging structures and in the world of the living on the news it's said its a natural disaster
what i didnt noticed in the manga was that toshiro wears his katana at the hip instead on his back, i think thats interisting since as captains it is long for him therefore he wears it on his back, while we know that adult toshiro is a think the katana might be grown up enough that he only needs to "grow into the sword"
