I love hard work! I can stand around and watch it all day. I worked on a sealing crew. I was the lucky guy who rode the spreader and operated the conveyor belts to keep the bin full. 1976
City crews like in Akron Ohio could learn a lot from this process. Rural roads have used this repaving method for many years and driving on these roads is a pleasure. Regularly done keeps the roads in perfect condition. Only downside is, stones being thrown up and dust, by cars, until it completely sets up. Thanks for the vid. 😀😀
Fuck chip seal. It's loud to drive on and only lasts a couple years before it gets torn up and starts destroying the front of your car because of all the lose gravel. Chip seal is the cheapo alternative to tar and in my opinion they should keep this stuff in Detroit and Chicago
I think it said they are using crushed rubber chunks. not gravel. On higher speed roads I agree it's noisy and chips come off. In a neighborhood like this probably fine. Also this is Arizona. so the heat and lack of freezing may make it work better and last longer.
It's rubber, not rock - read the description. Properly installed chip seal won't have as many issues and it is effective at extending the life of the asphalt.
It is amazing how good that looks and how fast they did it,, and the hard work that goes into it in the heat that people don’t seem to realize or appreciate.
I had this done to my road in Fall 2018. Then the snow came and the plows took the stones off the road and now they are all in my yard. Thanks township.
Interesting way to re-pave a road, well worth watching. Amazing skills of all of the guys, especially the chip spreader driver knows his machine to the last detail. Chapeau !
I watched stuff like this when I was a kid in the fifties. They didn't have today's machines but the had the dump trucks and the rollers and a half dozen men with shovels and giant brooms . . . and a nicely gravel paved road when they finished. Impressive.
This has to be the most satisfying video on youtube watching these workers paving the roads in the neighborhood. I'll say" 👍good job to the hard working ppl in 🇺🇸

You would never see the state work that fast in Pa. Shit they would have had at least 2 breaks by now and then start getting ready to go home. They put a drain pipe in on top of the hill near my house, I stopped and ask why they would do this and they said to stop flooding. Now I lived there 26 years and the top of the hill never flooded because all the water ran down the side of the road, called a ditch. Saw 17 men and 6 or so trucks setting and watching a like a back how taking the snow off a small bridge. I watched 4 men put up a stop sing warning sign, took the 4 men 4 1/2 hours to put up this sign. Need more guys like these in my township and state.
I salute western worker at their professionalism. In my country, there will be 1000 people work in 500 metres road, and 499 of them will get reward as the " Best Not my Job Medal".
@@girlsdrinkfeck supermarkets??? What do you think being a cashier, shelf stocker is hard, answering simple customer questions hard? What a damn clown..... These guys are working in the Arizona heat with hot tar and heavy machinery around them.
In my 11 years of chip sealing, we never let the oil sit for 5 minutes without covering it. We also don't spread the oil with a squeegee, distributors are not articulated also. Guys are working their asses off, machines are there for a reason.
@Integra DIY - Come to Europe it takes them 30 minutes to find the street using GPS, then they all stop for a 1hr 'tea-break', then they find the 'tar' has gone cold, so they all sit around for another 3hrs, - omg it's time for lunch, - another 1hr, (at least), - they then find no one has covered over the manholes and drains. Hmm not our job so all go home.
At first I thought this was over seas then I was like Duh !!!! U.S. Flag We need this here in Philadelphia PA , hell they don't fill holes here until half of your car fits in it. Nice Work can't remember the last time I saw a paving crew here move like these guys ,,,, Ohhh second thought never.....
Jesus... Hard working dudes. I couldn't imagine being covered head to toe in the Arizona heat while pouring hot tar and running around nonstop... Probably for close to minimum wage, too.
NaYawkr My mum does this work here in New Zealand. She normally rolls. But also can do the ground work too. She also does the job of the guy in yellow, which here is called an STMS. (site traffic management supervisor). Shes one of those mums that comes home covered in black shit every day, smells like bitumen and diesel and you tell her off because she often goes shopping down town looking like that. Most fullas mothers come home smelling like sweet perfume and looking like models. But our mum comes home looking like the dog that got caught in a storm.
The British are so much more served about this kind of thing and find the unnecessary display of the flag rather poor taste. I forget who said that patriotism was the last refuge of a scoundrel.
What flag should we waive the Mexican flag? Canadian flag? There is absolutely nothing wrong with waiving the flag of you nationality. In the UK it, is being branded as a racist thing to waive the Union Jack which is why they don't waive it as much. And they are trying to do that same bullshit here in the states. www.google.com/amp/s/www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/12/08/really-british-shop-selling-uk-memorabilia-accused-racism/amp/
Brilliant stuff, how to lay a new road in minutes. In the UK, everyone would be standing about in their hi viz outfits doing fuck all for days while the roads are coned off causing traffic chaos.
Draxindustries1 yep 10000000% agree but when they do try doing a version of this they make a fucking tip and the tar to stone ratio is off so the stones fly everywhere scratching cars in the process
Draxindustries1 I. Hawai'i it's the same way as you say it is in the UK. everyone standing around for 8 hours and they take a whole to get a block done and won't finish the rest as this new around that was onoleted starts to get jacked up they complete the other half and then come back and cut up the roads to lay pipes. talk about backwards and double job
Over here they take longer to lay out cones and barriers plus various other road signs than to actually do the job! Its health and safety gone mad in the UK, reams of paperwork, check lists, steel toe cap boots on site even if you dont even get out of the truck cab, Hi Viz everything, a yellow hard hat for the labourers while the 'man in charge' wears a white hat and when things go wrong it takes 6 men to stand around looking at it! And then just as you say come back a week later and dig the road back up..
Sounds exactly like Hawai'i. What's more messed up is that one project is going on and about a block later another. If you try to dodge one project, there's another waiting for you right around the corner.
I don't know how I got here. I don't particularly care about road maintenance. I watched the whole thing though. These guys get after it and maintain quality at the same time. Very impressive.
I'm a bit concerned. What is the efficacy of resurfacing the roads like this? Better traction during the rain? Cheaper means of adding a thin coating to the existing road? What is the purpose of doing this?
