I'm pleasantly surprised to find out they're both Lutheran. No doubt of Nordic heritage, as Minnesota is where most Norwegians and Finns settled in America. I found peace at the Church of Sweden after a long 'shopping around' of religion and spirituality. Alcoholism is no joke. Been there, man. I
GOD has blessed you David, way to go! I have always had the deepest respect for Megadeth as a band of fantastic musicians but have even more respect for you and the band. From one Christian to another.
For a man that’s insanely talented and highly successful at what he does, he’s just the cool dude that’ll spark up a conversation with you. He did so with me and ended up asking about my life and spoke about his. Accepting, open and willing to love you no matter where you’re from. It was a nice lengthy exchange and I love his humility with his fans. David Ellefson is truly what metal is all about. What faith is all about.
Damn, I’m 25 and have been clean for about a year of drugs and alcohol. It’s really inspiring to hear Dave say that he’s still clean, I really struggle with it sometimes because I want to live that rock n roll lifestyle, but hell if he can do it so can I.
I am 61yrs old and have been sober from alcohol since 1998(20yrs now). I had strayed far from Religion, knew alot about Rock and Metal, booze and drugs, but didn't know Jesus Christ. So that July day in 1998, I said to Him that if He was really there, I needed His help. I lost my taste, suddenly, for booze and have never touched another drop. About a year later I picked up a Bible that I had taken from a motel in 1976, and I learned about this Jesus Christ that I had called on and I became a member of His followers. Megadeth was and is, one of the best Metal bands. The Lord Jesus Christ doesn't judge people like we judge each other. Many people who are in church and call themselves Christians, are very judgemental and don't accept people who look like us Rockers/Metalheads, but it blows their minds when somebody like me knows more about the Bible and has a better relationship with Jesus Christ than they ever dreamed about!🤠🎸🎤😇
@Lawrence- Love your comment. Thank you for your testimony. And I very much agree about the “judgmental christians” issue. I’ve long thought that one of the biggest reasons people reject christianity is christians themselves. The ones who act/speak in a manner that is clearly not led by the Holy Spirit.
My dad was delivered instantly feom alcoholism when he became born again, you are right about prejudging people and unfortunately everyone is guilty 🤷♂️. The moment someone says "those tattooed people, nor those church people" they are already guilty of judgement but with Christ it should be righteous judgment. If nobody judged sin wouldn't exist and everyone would get away with everything and it would be a moral relativism nightmare.
I remember saying hello to Dave and shaking his hand. It was the first time in my life i felt starstruck and when i told him how much his music meant to me growing up, he was genuinely happy to hear me express that sentiment. Cool dude!
Every interview I've seen of megadeath is from the heart. Their into they're fans and care about real issues that are important music is a form of art to be interesting and entertaining. My favorite song is phyco tron
@@symphonyinkart exactly what moderation is...don't need to be merry though. As long as I don't do stupid things I wouldn't do when I'm sober then it's fine
No..not everyone in a metal band or metal fan indulges in drugs or alcohol. Metal fan for more than 30 years and never touched a drug, smoked anything, or drank. And there are musicians who were the same way. And always been a Christian too.
Susan Burris Your totally right but was a difficult time for the glam and metal bands of the 80’s and 90,s they have been through hard times because they were dudes between 20-25 years old and receiving paychecks of $1,000.000 dollars 2 or 4 times a year.drugs everywhere for free and booze too. throwing parties every night , pornstars groupies etc..its very tough to say no to all of that.many of them took their lives getting suicide or overdosing in heroin.
Yes, those are called “poser bitches”... let em do Christian “rock” and be like a South Park character... it’s a separate genre for nerds. Christians are the gum on the shoe of the country,..a fucking mess of sticky shit, that just won’t go in the trash where it belongs
What's wrong with drugs and alcohol? Sobriety is for people who can't handle drugs. It's your life so live it up. There's no hell for people who enjoy themselves. Only boredom and mediocracy. Life is short so make it last eat it up or watch it pass.
I cant think why. He basically tells you that you must love him or burn in hell for eternity. He's more of a tyrant than anything, and that's if he even exists at all which is highly doubtful.
I was fortunate to have taken bass lessons from David in the late 90's. He is exactly the same in person as he is in interviews. Very humble and personable. It was interesting to see him play the song "My last Words" using his fingers. I requested that he played song specifically. He played it as clean as can be. He uses a pick because of the was he holds the pic, the way he attacks the strings with the pick and how it accentuates frequencies that helps to cut through and be more audible. He also explains why finger style works for bassists such as Steve Harris because the guitarists in Maiden are more mid heavy in their sound compared to the more mid scooped sound usually that is found in thrash. A very intelligent, well spoken and personable person!
@@turtleneckferret ...and you had proof I did not? It was at a music store that specializes in basses in Arizona. I took lesson w. David from 1998-2000. In the future, stop assuming and acting a fool.
Dave is a great dude!!! I watched hee haw myself and I'm also a big fan of country music myself!!!! Rock on Both Dave's of Megadeth!!! And God bless you Both and your families!!! Even Ozzy says God bless at the end of his show's!!!!
I been playing guitar and other instruments 23 years. I was raised in church I always liked metal and Metallica and mega deth is my two favorite bands. I played in cover bands and I play with my dad for christrin music to. I do believe in God and this video proves that you don't have to be saitanic to like heavy metal. I can play hard and heavy stuff but I can also play soft spiritual stuff to. and I enjoy playing both. God bless you David ellefson and Dave mustaine. love you guys
I've always loved Dave's laugh. It's infectious. Dave was an excellent musician when he was sober or not. I'm glad he has his sobriety. Because of this show he can't seem to be honest. It wasn't alcoholism that sent him to rehab. He really wasn't getting drunk. At 23, he was addicted to heroin.
Hey dude, that really.should be up to him if he wanted to mention that, not you. There might be a reason. Maybe he is afraid certain people will reject him if they knew. Besides, who the fuck are you ?. Are you a spokesperson for Mr Elleson? No you are not, Iu are just another bone headed user posting too much information . I questiom iif you even know him or not
Very cool. David is just one of the coolest guys in rock and always seems to be a good guy. I've been a huge Megadeth fan since the mid 80s and it's stuff like this that makes me extra proud to be a fan.
My God! He is ME!!!! Love you David! Also from a small community. Played rhythm in an AC/DC cover band. Played AC/DC, Stixx, etc. as well as you guys, Megadeth! Was a fun time!
Great video.I grew up jamming to Megadeth and still have their sticker on my Jeep and also went through drug and alcohol addiction and came out the other side a better person.I love these stories
Wow it doesn't have to be Coke Meth Heroine etc to almost destroy you. Stopped drinking before I was legal age. Everyday I am thankful for sobriety, not to elevate myself above another but that God helped me get rid of something that was going to destroy me
God reveals himself through truth and wisdom not through a hidden voice. God isn't a genie you can go to and just wish your problems away. That's how the devil works.
@@dantasticmania8728 You are so wrong... can you spell 'Holy Spirit"? It is spirit and yes it does talk to you from the inside, if you have been given it by God the Father.
@William Leonard You are so wrong... can you spell 'Holy Spirit"? It is spirit and yes it does talk to you from the inside, if you have been given it by God the Father.
You must be so special for God pick you to help out. All you junkies and alcoholics out there, God didn't bother with you at all because this guy was kissing his ass a little better. Lol
I've been a fan of MegaDeath scince highschool and never really saw who these guys were..media and press of course portrayed them as something opposite. There was something different about the guys from Megadeath that separated them from all the other bands in that genre but could never really put my finger on what it was..Besides the unbelievable talent for creating music they are good, conciousness, well educated, respectful, driven people.I learned from megadeath at age 15 and am now learning from each individual's journey to finding who they are and presenting the best versions of themselves.passing judgment and not embracing what these guys have accomplished and have to offer not only as songwriters but as humans is ashame..it takes a level of strength that the majority couldn't handle...Thanks Dave...and Dave..
I thank God all the time for introducing me to Megadeth! The album was So far, So good, So what? At the time I was listening to Hip Hop breakdancing music. haha I never touched a hip hop CD again.
Max right bro Like Nicko Mcbrain from Iron Maiden, Dave Mustaine David Ellefson from Megadeth, Brain Head Welch from Korn, Alice Cooper,Former drummer from God forbid.
I’ve been a fan of Megadeth for many years but I’ve got a whole new respect for These guys, I’m a Christian and iTs so good To see These Talking about being Christians, so awesome!!!
I'm not even a megadeath fan but as a born again believer I love seeing these videos from guys like this, i found out last year rhat Niko Mcbrain is a birn again believer by watching one of his gear run down videos, he had them put a cross on one of his toms and he said "people might not know this but I'm a born again Christian" or something to that effect and i was like ☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️. I'm not even an Iron Maiden fan but i love watching gear videos and i like Nikos attitude and character.
I was just reading on the garden of eden account right before I watched this , thinking keep healthy boundaries to destruction then he talks about it , trippy !
zudemaster- Campbell’s bean & bacon soup with a grilled peanut butter & jelly sandwich and a tall glass of milk..... YUM 😋 ... Good for body, mind & soul!!
ive been a metal-head since the----60-s..but ive always have had the lord JESUS in my heart!!!!!watch out-satin will take u down with music..if u let him...
Good for him that's he is clean and sober, disagree that you need faith to help you with that. I overcame a cocaine problem as an Agnostic and never looked for help from a higher power cause I knew I had it in me. Stopped drinking with my own will too.
I think we don't have to feel shameful ourself to aplly to jesus and say god please help me loock at him what a smart talantive person I'm happy that Dave still with us i wish Dave will be healthy and makes us rejoy by his music for many years
I OD'd in Miami and a buddy's attemps at CPR for 5min.did nothing. A random black dude with a BIG crucifix prayed over me and begged God it wasn't my time..suddenly im sitting up askin "wtf?"..EMTs gave me narcan(forced voluntary)and was STILL high. I've been shown 🙌⚡😦
I am a devout Christian who has been into metal since Black Sabbath. Iron Maidens 'Numer of The Beast' to me isn't about worshipping Satan, but as instructions on what not to do. I write about the dark goth side hopefully, I can bring them from it into the light.
I saw Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast tour w/Quiet Riot back in '83 Charlotte, NC and before they played "Number of the Beast" Bruce made a point to the audience that Iron Maiden did NOT worship the Devil. At 15yrs old I thought for sure they did until I heard it with my own ears.
Dave has a unique voice, he sounds like he could be a news reporter, or some shit. I think he is a great musician, and would never think he grew up on a farm.
Welcome to my boner tall I'll take some time to pull it out Impossible to stain this bed For you see my towel's much too thick Webcam banks to rule the world Internet to leak this vid Possibly we've seen too much, Wanger 18 I know too much
I'm atheist, can't be swayed otherwise... my best friend is a strong christian, southern baptist/pk/bass player...this guy kind of reminds me of him in ways. David is great. I think he's humble and nuanced.
See, this is how it should be. I'm Christian but have some atheist friends but we don't try to sway the one another either way and don't judge each other. I respect his beliefs, and he mine because a relationship with Christ is personal and to not have one with Christ is personal also. Glad to see u can get along with Christians and I apologize for the Christians that judge u also because that's not supposed to be the way Christians are. If an atheist ask me questions I'll answer them the best I can about Christ, but if not, as long as u are a good person then your cool with me
@@austindenotter19 how about respect human honesty and shut the fuck up? It's not like religious people make themselves out to be friendly or approachable to begin with.
This is so different to the ‘Junior’ I remember from 91... he doesn’t drone or curse. I guess that’s what a sober mind, and age/experience does. I’m glad he is happier. Though it is fun to see old footage of him.
William Ross- ok, thanks. It’s encouraging to see, and hear, his transformation that comes with time, and an effort being made to mature. An opportunity for many to receive inspiration.
