This is Watch Fan Henry and I recently had the great pleasure of visiting the ROLEX Authorized Dealer shop run by Rhodium at the famous Zorlu Center shopping mall in Istanbul. I wasn’t expecting to do a ROLEX hunt during my visit to Istanbul, but by chance I found that Rhodium Istanbul had a ROLEX authorized dealer presence at this famous shopping mall. So I decided to pay the store a visit to see what they had in the way of ROLEX watches, ROLEX availability, and to learn more about the ROLEX situation in Turkey, for both local buyers and foreigners like me. Everything is explained in my video which I hope you will very much enjoy. Thank you for watching, and please do not forget to subscribe to my channel. PS - For the non-Turkish viewers of my video, I would like to clarify that the Turkish word “YABANCI” (pronounced “YABUNJI”) translates to “foreigner”, which is what I am when I visit Turkey, and I use this terminology in my video.

I waited a couple years for an Air King and most dealers in my area of the US just rarely receive them. I was able to get a GMT sooner than the Air King. Another interesting video with the state of the Rolex market in Turkey.

Wow, you are super lucky that you were able to get a GMT that’s next on my list actually .. any color I’m not fussy. But I am very happy that I got my Air-Ming and I really love wearing the piece.

Thank you very much. I was curious myself as to what the situation would be at a Rolex authorized dealer in Istanbul. You hear of people getting lucky at remote and off the beaten path Rolex AD locations around the world and I was wondering if this was the case with Turkey.

I owned a 2021 Air King for about 1 1/2 years and bought it on the grey market but found the watch a little top heavy. I’m hoping to get the newer reference at retail from an AD🤞

Yes, I do find the watch quite heavy, but I quite like the watch as well. As you know my model is a 2021 so we had the same watch. Is the 2024 Air-King model a bit lighter than the 2021 model?
@Greektourguide
@Greektourguide 5 месяцев назад
@@WatchFanHenryin 2022 Rolex redesigned the Air King a little bit. The new model doesn’t have the Faraday cage, an updated movement and crown guards. So it should wear a little slimmer. I have unfortunately still not seen one in person at an AD even for exhibition only

The prices in places like Turkey are based on Euro. Turkey are having huge economic issues and have had near hyperinflation. Rolex can’t allow prices in Turkish as the price on a watch can rapidly decrease in a matter of days. Re tax, in most European countries tax is baked into the price. Not added after like in the US. You will find if you buy in France, Swiss, Spain etc, you can get your tax back at the airports meaning you get about 15% back. Used to be the same in the UK but the government have stopped that scheme.

Exactly the UK government stopped the tax back scheme so I’ll never buy a watch there. Although it is nice to look at Rolexes at the various watch shops around London.

I assume the tax is added when you pay for the item, same as in the US. The list price is xxx and then depending on which state you live in they add the state sales tax.. so add 20% to whatever she told you.

It was confusing to me too, but I believe all the posted prices include all the taxes as that is generally how things are done in Turkey. I’ve never purchased anything at a publish price and then had a tax on top added.. of it not yet anyhow.

I fill up the form in one of the RHODIUM ROLEX AD’s in Istanbul on monday. The price was 10.550€ for the watch ı want! (Submariner date)

If you live in Turkey or you’re a Turkish citizen, with a Turkish address, you can absolutely get on their list. That’s no problem. If you have good luck and get the watch, please let us know.

I’m so glad to hear that you got a very nice watch on your visit to Tokyo. I think for any watch fan, it has to be a mandatory goal to get a watch when you visit this fine city.

I will research this for my next visit. I am not sure if any/many will sell high end watches. Curious now…

The European prices have the tax in the price.
@WatchFanHenry
@WatchFanHenry 5 месяцев назад
Yes, I understand this is the case as well although some countries will give the tax back if they offer tax-free shopping to nonresidents, which is the best way to buy a Rolex … I think.

Rolex gray market wanted to much for their watches. Grand Seiko all the way. Better watch for the money!
@WatchFanHenry

The Grand Seiko is definitely on my radar too and perhaps one day I will own one … and I think Japan would be a great place to buy one. If you haven’t already checked my videos, have a look at my video that I did on my preferred vintage watch shop in Tokyo .. as I think you’ll enjoy it.

I would like to think that Rolex watch prices are fixed to be the same world wide? Rolex as always in recent years trying to build up a frenzy of demand by creating a shortage of supply unless you are connected or famous!!
