Hey I just changed my transmission filter on a 1999 Isuzu Amigo, and there is no need to take the crossbar off. all you need is a swivel socket with an extension, and a 10 mm wrench, with that you can reach behind the crossbar and undo those bolts.
This is def an involved process and thanks to Matt we now have a comprehensive method. Make yourself comfy because these 2 vids will probs save you ~$300 in shop labor.
I just replace the trans fluid and filter on my 2002 Isuzu rodeo sport and I had NO problem dropping the pan without removing the cross member. Now that I think of it, did the same on my 1998 rodeo 16 years ago.
My 99 Isuzu Rodeo has 156,000 miles on it and was changed last at 91,000. Guy said it got a new Trans after the 91k but who knows. It shifts pretty well most of the time but tends to delay a little bit when it's cold. Should I do a transmission fluid on the filter change and then wait about a month and do it again to get everything out? And isn't there another part I have to drain other than the pan and filter?
@@williamperri3437 defiantly change the trans oil AND filter, should take care of the problem. there is a small trans oil pan just in front of the main one that needs to be drained at the same time to get all the gunk out of the oil. no need to do it again after a month, just dropping both pans and replacing the filter will be good. I do mine every 50 thousand miles.
@@williamperri3437 Try some Marvel Mystery oil in gas tank. Follow directions. Will help clean fuel system and injectors. At every fuel up for a month and then once a month afterwards to keep everything clean. Worked for my Sorento. Am getting a passport so watching maintenance videos. Good luck.

I tell ya, some of this auto mrg should be in JAIL beside dishonest greedy food chains... for making this where one is forced to take cars to dealership to fix who charge ungodly fees. its really criminal. 1000 ways they could design to put transmission fluid in, but they CHOOSE to do it hardcore on purpose.
Had some fun with mine yesterday changed out the radiator because it cracked. Got a duralast radiator and it was broken but wasn’t able to tell. Long story short transmission fluid was filling in the coolant system lost a good 3 quarts of trans fluid. Changed the radiator to carquest today and flushed the system and drained and filled the fluid in the trans . Only accepted 4 quarts now it’s slipping
I had my transmission rebuilt and it started slipping a few months later. Fluid was low. I topped off with 1 qt of Mercon V, will this be a problem? I assume they used Dexron
Im going to attempt restoring my 1992 Rodeo bougjt new, V6, automatic 4wheel chassis, approx 150k miles, faded but not rusted. Where to begin, I have no idea where to start first!? Does not start.
I have a 2001 Honda Passport. The fill plug is next to the drain plug I think. I used this and the fluid did not come back out, but then the trans was very low. Does that sound right?
How do you remove the 10mm nuts off the bolt, if for instance the nut spins but doesn't move up or down on the bolt??? I'm freaking out! Thought perhaps I could bypass them, there is another plate blocking two nuts on the pan, and 2 14mm bolts holding that in place. Looks like that plate is also holding up the cross member. (Mine is a 1999 rodeo) Got it down to a point where now my ratchet and socket are stuck between the bolt and the cross member....FML

Definitely pull the inner bolts FIRST on the cross member that connect to the trans, then the outer bolts. I snapped the bolt heads off trying to take mine out... Kinda screwed
I really hate the design of the zoozoo transmission well I guess it's not really an Isuzu transmission a lot of vehicles use them. But just simply putting new fluid in it or topping it off as a pain in the butt.
That's so stupid there's no dipstick. I mean this is a pain in the ass, messy, and costly. Why couldn't they just make it so you add the quart like the oil does? If you are disabled you gotta pay a high cost for a shop to do it. These vehicles require way too much maintenance compared to jeeps.
