MUA 5 speed overview. New flywheel, clutch kit, bearings, and seals. Description of correct seal numbers and parts. Parts will be installed at a later date with videos included.
THEY USE THE M75 DESIGINATION UP UNTILL 10-89 ON EVEN THE MUAS IN MOST OF THE VEHICLES, WHEN THEY CHANGED IT OVER TO RMN FOR THE MUAS STARTING IN 10-89, THE EASIEST WAY TO TELL FOR SURE IS TOO LOOK AT THE TRANSFER CASE , IF IT IS AN MSG IT WILL HAVE A CAST IRON TRANSFER CASE AND THE FRT DRIVE ASSY IS BOLTED ON MUCH LIKE A PWR TAKEOFF SETUP,ALL MUAS ARE ALL ALUMINUM, MAIN CASE AND TRANSFER, ALL MSGS THAT CAME TO THIS COUNTRY HAD CABLE OPERATED CLUTCHS EXCEPT THE EARLY IMPULSE AND IT WAS AN MSG WITH HYDRAULIC SETUP, AND ALL MUAS HAD A HYRDAULIC CLUTCH, IT GETS SORTA OF CONFUSING TRYING TO DECIPHER THE PARTS BOOKS SOMETIME IF YOU ARE NOT AWARE OF THE CHANGE IN THE DESIGNATION BETWEEN THE TWO,A BIT OF HISTORY ON THE MSG IT SIMPLY STOOD FOR MANUAL SHIFTED GEAR AND WAS MADE IN A 3 SPD VERSION, NEVER IN THE U.S. MSG4 MSG4T MSG5 MSG5T THE T STANDING FOR TRANSFER CASE, NEVER DID FIND OPUT EXACTLY WHAT THE MUA STOOD FOR, BASICALLY WHAT THEY DID WAS TO USE THE MSG TRANS ON ALL ENG UP THRU THE 2.3 SIZE ENG, AND THE MUAS FROM THE 2.6 AND UP ENG SIZE, THE LATER SIZE MSGS WERE ALLMOST AS STRONG AS THE MUAS, AND A GOOD BIT LIGHTER

I just pulled one of these and all the items required from Pnp in hopes to remove the failed auto that's in it now. Thankyou for the info!

The msg5 was used all the way thru 1995 but only on engines smaller than the 2.6 and commonly found behind the 2.3 . It was upgraded in 1988 with a larger input shaft and bearing a but was used thru 1995.

Yes, I've gotten them mixed up before. I've got the 2.6l, and the MUA5. Transmission is still holding up.

Rule of thumb: if it has clutch hydraulics it’s mua5 if it has a clutch cable it’s msg

Cross this part. It fits the 2 and 4 wheel drive manuals. The MUA line, NOT the Borg-Warner trans. Start with this part number, then cross-reference other brands from there. I just wanna ask if where's the drain plug and oil filler of the transmission and the transfer case?

No filter, this is a manual or "Standard" Transmission. The drain plug is at the bottom center of the transmission, the transfer case's is at the back. All drain plugs are big headed bolts, bigger than every other bolt, and low to the very bottom of the transmission and transfer case. Both have 2 separate drains and 2 separate fill plugs. The fill plugs are at the halfway mark of the transmission and transfer case. All 4 bolts are the same size. Somewhere around 1 inch in size, give or take. You fill up the transmission until some fluid starts leaking out. Use 10w-30 motor oil for 100,000 miles or less. 10w-40 or 10w-50 for higher mile transmission over 100,000. This is only for Isuzu Transmissions. Borg Warner uses ATF in a manual transmission.

I have a problem with my transmission getting hot,do you know any reasons as to which is that? 4ja1 engine

Standard or Auto? If it's a standard, check the oil level and type. If it's an auto, check the trans cooler built into the radiator. If not, add an external cooler, as I always do on autos.

@@Ro0y4L Check what type of oil your transmission requires e.g: engine oil, or something else, and if you have enough in it.

@@shadetreeautomotiveenthusi1284 last mechanic said I put 75w90, do you think I could change it to 5w30, would the oil seals leak now because of the less dense oil, don't want to soak the clutch

The MSG is weaker than the MUA, as far as I've seen internally, it's an MUA

The diesels usually use a different trans. They typically use the MSG transmission.
