This isn't normal rational behaviour....its a council meeting about local issues being gate crashed by mentally unwell people calling for something that will have no impact what so ever.
because the locals would hate them for supporting Hamas after what Hamas did to them for years? And because Hamas would "handle them" after they will be of no use?
Tbf if my local council were discussing Gaza instead of local issues. I'd be pretty pissed too. My council has been building a new road for 2 years and we are over overpopulating our area with too many houses and not enough infastructure to handle it. Roads are packed 2 miles long with cars waiting to enter a roundabout where a queue in what could easily be a 5 minute drive from the outer edges of the town, takes an hour to get to the middle or can take an hour to access a motorway from the middle, due to how packed the roads get. But yeah Gaza is important. We also have a Rainbow Council, so nothing really gets done either.
We're just a few district council resolutions away from solving centuries of sectarian conflict in the middle east 😊. At least young people are getting interested in local government.
I'm a bit confused: we aren't the British Empire anymore. We don't hold sway over the Middle East like we used to. I don't know what they expect local councillors in a market town in Lancashire to do about something happening thousands of miles away. That's unless Netanyahu plans to take notice of a motion passed by Chorley Town Council and order Israeli forces to up sticks and stop operations. Unlikely.
Not a tory by any stretch but I'm sick of these protestors making EVERY issue about Gaza. Performative nonsense that has no effect on anything that matters to most voters. Let's say that by some miracle, Chorley council of all places passes some resolution to call for a ceasefire in Gaza.... then what? What on earth is going to happen? Funnily enough Netanyahu is not beholden to the political demands of Chorley Council. It's so insane we have this in our country.
That’s true I don’t think protestors realise this. People are just emotional. However our politicians should put pressure on the government to do something about the wars abroad. A lot of people who aren’t Muslims are also taking part to these protest. They are annoying but if governments across the world put pressure on Netanyahu for a permanent ceasefire this will all end. So go out there and protest or we will see these protests happening for a few years.
