Ordered both RS 2 Pro Combo and Advanced Rig.. I was roaming around for a video that teaches the setup and I landed on your channel. That is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks
2:47 I was hoping that the handle receives power from the ring and that battery isn't necessary, as long as the handle is mounted on the ring and the ring has power...
It will receive power without the battery. As long as the ring is powered by the DJI battery or a v-mount via the plate the handles will turn on. I didn’t know it at the time but the battery option is for use without the ring.
You can buy a tilta 15mm rod holder that will attach directly to the camera cage, meaning you don’t need to double deck the tilta 15mm rod holder with the baseplate.
Thank you for letting me know. I'm rocking the GDU side handle with 15mm rods and that's a decent option so far. Having something that I can remove more easily would be great.
It sucks so much that everyone has to wait so insanely long. When I ordered in november I was exited to start using it in December/januari and well.. we all know how that turned out..
Amazing, sir can you make video how to mount a V mount & monitor on rs2 gimbal only Without any Tilta product just - How to mount monitor & v mount on rs2 gimbal only. ?
@@PeterBaerveldt that would be the best… lot of people having battery issues with bmpcc 6k when it comes to mount on gimbal. I am waley able to mount v mount on my gimbal but then I am not able to mount monitor… So some right suggest would really help me
Yeah it's insane that they still haven't caught up. All the shortages right now don't help either. I'm wondering if tilta regrets releasing this so soon. Might have been better (for everyone) to wait a little while longer.
Hi! Nice video! Have you experienced problems with the joystick on the handle? Mine broke a few days ago and Tilta doesn't seem too eager to replace it.
I've lost both so far. At first I did put it back (mine didn't brake) but as the came loose I've now lost them on a production I think. It's not great but I just use it without the joystick. I don't use the sticks much anyways so it's not a huge problem for me right now.
@@PeterBaerveldt The problem for me is now that it drifts to the left after the joystick breaks, so as soon as I start the rig the camera start spinning :(
Waiting on this to be in stock! How is filming with this for longer periods of time? Does it get heavy? I have the twist grip handles and like the weight and ability to "twist" into briefcase mode, but the ring looks a more refined and tighter package overall.
Depends on what you’re filming with! The komodo, vespids and a monitor i run for about 10 minutes before i really want to put it down. I does get heavy at some point for sure. but the ring is carbon fiber so to me it does not add any significant weight. However this thing weighs nothing in comparison to my movi + raven setup (which was horrible to run&gun all day). The twist grip does look amazing. Very compact.
@@PeterBaerveldt Makes sense! Typically filming with an a7siii and a monitor, so probably just shy of what you're using weight-wise. How does the RS2+ring do with roll movements (like slowly turning the horizon) compared to the movi? Sorry for the million questions
We got ours in recently, and get to the "pairing" section for the ring/gimbal. It goes to connecting1.... and seems like it connects, but then the tilta controller buttons do not actually control anything. Any ideas?
Finally got mine...great video by the way, I watched this a million time in preparation. How are you able to power you nucleus nano with the RS2?! Im considering to purchase one, but I know the RS2 doesn't output 12v of power. Or did I miss something🤔
Thank you! Appreciate that. The nucleus nano comes with a cable for the RS2. It offers enough power (for me) and my sigma cine's and DZO vespids. I indeed don't think it's 12v but it's enough for me in therms of strength
Hi! Thank you for the compliment! These DZOfilm vespid primes have the focus rings already on the lens. Most cinema lenses do. That's one of many reasons why I love the vespids so much when it comes to operating. Apart from the excellen lens quality of course. How ever, what I did when using a photo prime was the following: I picked the lens with the widest outer diameter, put the ring on there and cut off the rest of the ring that I wasn't using. It makes it way less long and way more useable ;)
Hey I just got the v mount battery plate and mine doesn’t fit in the ring . It isn’t round like yours . Is that something u got separately ? I’m so frustrated .
What? That sound like a production fault. Reach out to Tilta and send some pictures along with it. Just don't try to force anything.. you might break something.
Hi, thanks for video!! I'm still waiting for my Komodo. I have got Tilta Float but I want to buy Advanced ring grip too!. How do you connect Komodo with Nucleus nano? And how you could start/stop recording? Please explain your cabling more. I'm looking for cleanest way to do it.Thanks!
Hey man, I am curious if you have had any issues with setting up the tilta float so it works as advertised? I seen 1 or 2 people return it because they never could get it to work as advertised. Appreciate any feedback!
The newly added cross bracket on my Float broke (became loose to the point of no longer tightening) immediately within 30 minutes during the first setup. Haven't been able to use it since, and Tilta keeps promising to have a higher up get back to me, but nobody offers a simple replacement part or any solution. Not to mention they still haven't shipped the revised suction cups for the Hydra Alien. One of the original cups broke within the first day, they admitted it was an issue, then promised revised cups were being sent out to affected customers. It's been several months, I was fortunately/unfortunately in the first batch of shipments. Such a bummer how they rushed out all these RS2 ecosystem products without proper stress testing, and it's just salt in the wound that they won't help.
Hey man, thanks for the video. I have a Tilta Nucleus-M, and wondered how you go about actually pairing the focus motor with the handles? Do you have any advice on this please?
Hey! It's quite simple actually: Put the handle to T.F than match the motor channel with the handle and it should work for focus! I would need a R/S cable for recording but that depends on the camera. Might cover that in a future video. I have the M as well but I just don't use it for the RS2/rs3. Just to clarify: I never tried. I know that it works that way as N/M work in the same way when it comes to connecting to a focus wheel and/or handle.
I bought it straight from tilta. Maar omdat je uit Nederland komt zou ik contact opnemen met Socrates. Ze zijn NL dealer voor Tilta en super aardig en behulpzaam.
I've been wondering about that as well. When using two motors i use the Nucleus M most of the time as I can chain them. I didn't try it with the Nano's up to this point (exclusively use primes on the RS2) so I can't say for sure. I'll write it down and see if I can make it work on the ring. If I do I'll post a video about it.
@@PeterBaerveldt I spoke to Tilta support and they said it's not possible, which is a shame because the page for the dual channel wireless lens control module on their site definitely makes it seem like it should work. So I had to pair one motor to the lens control handle and one to the remote control handle, also a shame since the remote handle needs to share that dial with iris control to my pocket 4k. So you have to flip a switch on the handle and mess up motor positioning every time you want to change iris. They say "dual channel" so maybe they could update the handle to actually transmit over two channels instead of controlling two motors on one channel. If only nucleus M motors weren't double the price...
That's bad to happen for you. Both controllers paired automatically once I did the initial pairing process in my case. I think something went wrong in your case. Might want to try again and power on both handles when pairing. Otherwise I suggest you get in contact with Tilta. Might be a faulty handle.
Didn't check actually so many thanks for asking because if the handles are attached to the ring the will work without the 18650 battery! Which is quite nice. I've just checked and it works with both the v-mount and if you were to just use the battery from the RS 2.
@@steviedphotos Is there a tilta manual for the ring? I am having an issue with keeping the RS2 stablized, it is wandering off axis and hope to understand what I need to do to address this issue. Thx
Hi Peter, I have the advanced ring ring with the battery plate attached to the top for my feelworld monitor via DC, and the vmount adapted at the bottom with a Moman battery. I left the Ronin S 2 battery attached as well. Everything was good to go. Here's where things go wrong, I turn on RS2 and leave on standby, and start connecting the camera control cable from my Canon R5 to the RSS feed. As soon as I do this, the gimbal shakes a little and then makes a weird sound and releases a smell like something is burning. So I power down the gimbal, and try to turn it back on, but there is NO POWER?? The RS2 no longer turns on, have you heard of anything like this happening??
Never heard of this happening before however the way you describe it is could be a power shortage which could mean that the gimbal is fried and that could be the reason why it isn't working anymore. Sorry this happend to you! Hopefully you can figure out what happend and make sure that it get fixed.
I notice when in mode 1 (just panning) the camera returns to centre very accurately. But when in the other mode it has no idea of where centre is. I mainly use PTF (pan and tilt) and it seems slow to get back to centre, or, it just doesn’t, and I am constantly using the re-centre :-(
Yes true, that because in the m2 and m3 presets it follows your movement with some delay to make it smooth as possible. It’s something you need to get used to. I have this all the as well but now i now how much panning and tilting in the opposite direction will get it back to were it need to be. The re-center is something you’ll use a lot haha.
If I want to use a 1st AC pulling focus with the handle grip on my DJI Focus motor, I am left with only one handle grip for myself. So what handle grip product do I need to buy to replace the one my focus puller is using? Are there options beside buying another $200 USD grip handle for the ring?
For focus pulling you can use the focus wheel that comes with the nucleus Nano kit. Works for me when I need it and if you have it you don't need to buy anything.
@@PeterBaerveldt Thank you. But for those without the Nucleus you have to buy extra handles. Tilta actually replied to my email blaming themself for not having the Basic Handles for sale separately from the Basic Grip Ring pack. So theres that. They did however offer to sell me a pair. But you can't find them in any stores.
Mine just arrived and I'm testing it with the top section and battery backwards as was shown in all the pictures Tilta put in their ads. The balance is a little tricky, especially with a ready rig. Which Power Supply to D-Tap cable did you use?
Hi! Switching the handle should work better with the ready rig for sure. Interested to know how you experience that combo. About your question: the splitter is the ZITAY D-Tap Splitter 4 port. There are many alternatives but I wanted the 4/20 screw to mount it to the gimbal neatly.
Hey man I've seen some reviews saying that the RS2 doesn't actually fully install to the ring completely play free no matter how much you try to tighten it, can you confirm please? Thanks
Yes it does. Had to find that out the hard way. I don't now why but the ring will continue to draw power from the battery. I now always remove it when not in use. If you have the v-mount or gold mount plate it's the same so be aware of that
I use the provided cables that come with the Nano kit. For me it works just fine it seems! Had the same question so I asked Tilta and they said that their cables work and so far they work :)
Hey, does your v-mount plate recharge the original DJI hand grip (which is top handle in this ring setup)? I bought myself a dual npf to v-mount converter and it seems it doesn't provide the ring with power.
I don't, it's wireless with the Tilta Wireless Control Receiver Module. I connect the nano with a cable to my komodo for Run/Stop. which is called tilta nucleus nano R/S cable for komodo
Well, I didn't, however today I'll release a video explaining how to fix it and what you need to set it all up. Because I do have a record button now on the Ring :)
No case honestly. I put the ring in my Easy rig bag for transport and the RS2 in my bag or camera case. And very often I just take the whole gimbal with me without anything covering it.
Yes they finally do! It's insane right? I set my alarm for the release back in November and ordered it as soon as the page went live (which was even before the official launch time). I'm so happy to have it here. It sucks so many people still have to wait. 6/7 months is way to long for all of us. In any case, let me know if there's anything you would like to see in the future. I really do want to help everyone as much as possible with their questions about the ring.
After using this ring… I must say , initially it feels good, but it is no where as smooth as the regular pistol grip . Every footstep (ninja walk) is seriously amplified and very wooblely . I think this has to do with with gimbal base being below a oppose to say my movi or even my ronin m, where it hangs from the top…. I returned mine
Sorry to hear that but understandable, the ring should improve performance for you. Not make it worse! Personally with the ring i'm more stable than with the pistol grip. the fully build out Komodo setup is way off balance in a pistol grip setup to operate properly for me. But like always, it comes down to personal preference.
Experiencing the same issues. The carbon fiber feels like it has a ton of bounce in it. Completely unusable footage for setups on the heavier side of the RS2 max payload.
@@rMr.big13 P4K/P6K with Nucleus M. Honestly, I’ve never been impressed with the RS2 anyways...my Ronin S was smoother. The RS2 micro jitters are real.
He probably used a single rod on the Ready Rig. I use a single rod on the Ready Rig all the time when I have a setup like that and it is not too heavy.
Hey I did indeed. I own and use both so I must have misspoke. I've tried the EasyRig and it works. I'll try the ready rig as well. But I do think the easyrig will be my preference due to it's flexibility.
Yes, I was thinking about doing that @high desert Entertainment. I have the spindles for a dual setup but I also feel like that restricts my movement a bit to much. A single rod setup would help with the flexibility. What has your preference actually?
@@PeterBaerveldt I only corrected you because I’d want to see how the set up was with the ready rig. But with the easy rig I can imagine how it is. No my personal favourite for gimbal use (easy rig).
@@PeterBaerveldt I personal feel that the easy rig restricts your movements in terms if you want to achieve roll rotations and “pans” whilst moving the gimbal. Never tried the ready rig but some of my gimbal operators do have it. Since I want to purchase the advanced ring, was thinking of the the ready rig for heavier setups like yours, but with a Mattebox and possible two focus motors depending if I do use zoom lenses. I do love the easy ring when the gimbal is used in single hand mode it does help a lot and sure for handled shots. If you ever do use the ready rig if possible drop a picture on Tilta Dji RS2 facebook group. I’d love to see it. Anyway keep going 👌🏾👌🏾
Sorry to hear that.. I've checked and there's nothing wrong with my video. Maybe it's the youtube compression? Try watching it on 4k or check it on a second device maybe that helps.
@@PeterBaerveldt nah there’s definitely some interference on your end my guy. If you’re using lav’s, check your cables or maybe placement. If you listen closely, you’ll hear it.
@@rhodoliteproductions8344It’s quite minor but I hear what you mean. I’ll see what I can do to improve this. It’s nothing I can’t live with for RU-vid but if it isn’t there it would be better haha.
