As a Law Abiding Australian Firearms Owner I commend you having a Sidearm for Personal Protection. As an Emergency Service Worker for 30 years I strongly Recommend that people operating Chainsaws also have appropriate Protection. I’ve witnessed people attacked by broken Chains and it has rarely been a pretty sight.
Agreed. I was taught to run a saw by my dad and grandpa. Neither of them knew a thing about protective gear. I’ve been in the construction industry for 28 years and preach PPE to our employees. Yet here I’m am letting it fly like dummy. Thanks for watching! I need to come visit. I’ve always wanted to make the trip.
I had several small pines that died from IPS beetles, So I made sure to cut them up and burn them so that any beetles or larvae wouldn't spread to other trees. I guess that one was from lightening, but I would still burn it as a bonfire one of these rainy days.
That is about the size of our two pine trees we had to take down...required a boom crane with bucket and a very solid trained guy to manage the sectional drops...the size was 100+ foot tall for both...each had rotten centers and one had roots that destroyed an edge of our driveway surface...glad we spent the money and this company used it to train newer workers on the art of tree removal...really impressed..trees were NW of power lines and our neighbors home and our street...took them 2 hours and the log truck came two days later to pickup the chunks and deep clean up on driveway and lawn area...Cheers from Maine.
We’ve got an Oak tree that got hit this year by lightning. We’re hiring someone for that one. We’ve tackled a lot of big trees around here but this one is just to much.
Good job!!!! I always hate having to cut large dead trees down. We have one beside our house that needs to come down asap. Big oak tree that's died. The clean up is always a big job too.
At least wear a hardhat Chris....... Too many dead limbs up there. I got one up by the road that is half dead (a big oak) they cut the roots out when widening 219.
No joke maybe 1 or 20 times🤣 but different every time! We have a video of a big magnolia that was close to a building. Check that one out. That one was was fun.
IMHO a hardhat with face/ear protection is the bare minimum for PPE. The only other comment I have is I was concerned about the tractor placement at the end of the rope. I would have been much more comfortable if the rope went thru a pulley and moved the tractor to the side of the trajectory of the falling tree. Then everyone/everything is out of harms way should the tree be taller than expected.
We are the home owner cutting our own tree. I don’t own tree cutting safety equipment. If I did it for a living I would most definitely buy all of those things. I used a tree as a pulley and the tractor was a good 100 feet passed where the tree would reach. And off set to the left. That was the whole reason to use the tree. The rope pulls in the direction of the tree while the tractor is pulling in another direction altogether. Thanks for watching
