I saw/heard Nils Lofgren perform at the Kinetic Playground in Chicago (circa 1974). At one point he was playing guitar and piano simultaneously. At another point he ran up to the wall and did a back flip while playing guitar. An incredible musician and showman.
I saw Nils doing a solo show just a few years ago. I mean, where else can you see impossibly great guitar playing, an accordion solo, and a tap dancing bit. It was crazy fun.
Love Josh rouse 1972. Good one listened to it yesterday Coincidentally listened to tapestry Friday night. Brian Jonestown massacre are fantastic and have over 20 great diverse lps. That’s just one of many. You’ll love most of em.
That Nils Lofgren double live album you ref’d, Night After Night, is my only Nils record. Like Frampton Comes Alive did for Peter Frampton, it makes a great intro to his best work, with tons of live energy and exuberant lead guitar.
Love Josh Rouse, i bought the cd when it came out. The Nils album has always been a favorite of mine, it was played a lot here in the New York area in the seventies, lots of great tunes, Keith Don’t Go..❤️
Love these videos of yours. As you go through them I add them to my Apple Music library and will listen in my van on the way to work. Loads of stuff I would never have caught otherwise - because it’s all about the music!
Weird thing. Growing up in my house, we listened to so. gospel. Louvin Bros. were in rotation. That’s what it was in the south and your dad’s a preacher. I first got turned on to GP how? I saw the Christian Life on the Sweethearts album. I went backwards I guess, but I also made the transfiguration from the tabernacle to the cosmic American music. We owe a lot to the Louvin Bros. Thank you for the reminder.
Love that Louvin Brothers Cover, a classic. I too discovered them through Gram Parsons. That guitar work reminds me Clarence White or if Buck Owens and his Buckeroos got saved! 😊
I became aware of the Louvin Brothers via Southern Culture on the Skids. Saw them live in Cambridge, Ma and they played "Great Atomic Power" and I thought....What the hell is THAT??!!!!!
I learned you’re a year younger tnan me. I knew it was close from albums you seem to favor. We v seem to have similar tastes in music of your wheelhouse. I enjoy these vids and love talking music. Thanks Mazzy! 🎵😎👍🏼🎶
Titanic Overture was an amazing piece of art music.I first heard it when I was in grade 8 on one of those Warner comp Lps (Zapped accent on the "E"). Went out and bought the LP right away.
Pretties for You is a strange, motley collection of songs. I like it a lot though all the tempo and key changes within songs can be exhausting. What do you think of Easy Action, their second album. It’s my favorite because it keeps the psych and weird pop sensibility of Pretties but the songs are tighter.
Satan is real, yo! Great book titled same written by Charlie Louvin in the 2000s. Cover to that album made even more amazing when you find out those flames are made of real fire and Satan statue is 16-ft likeness that the boys built out of plywood themselves. At some point, if memory serves, Ira Louvin gets shot six times by his wife after he tries to strangle her with telephone cord. Praise the Lord! Yahooooozah!
Same iPhone 15 pro but I’m trying different lighting. When I shoot at night I just use a front side ring and keep the rear shelf lights on, turning off the main overhead. And there is no natural light coming in at night. Plus I use cinematic mode on the iPhone to get that depth of field. Just have to be careful that I keep the album centered or within the front light to stay in focus. I like the look. We’ll see how often I can do it. 😎
ITMS should do a revue of Split Enz, 10cc, for as much as you dig into XTC, Im surprised you have never mentioned them, or Polyrock. Artistic Mazzy should do a Artrock ITMS
