Thank you! Hope you enjoy 🥰 If I remember correctly in these episodes I was using On Cloud 9 by theblondsimmer, you can find it here: www.patreon.com/posts/on-cloud-9-and-72017840
You are very right about the poaching. Most people ignore that but in 1300 it very unlikely that a peasant would be allowed to hunt deer. As for the bear… there were no wild bears in England in 1300. It’s questionable whether there were even any wolves or wild boars though there were certainly wild pigs that could eff someone up. I love Ye Olde Cookbook mod, but it not accurate to this century of this challenge. I’m always conflicted when I use it about whether to go to great lengths to make it more accurate or to just give up and go with it as written and pretend I don’t know better
That's a really good point, I had no clue there were no bears! I wish I hadn't pre-recorded so many episodes already, I would have gone with a killer wild pig instead of wolves or bears for the next death 😅 Thanks so much for the information!
@@citrinesimmer Yeah, it's kind of surprising. They did import bears for entertainment both during the Roman occupation and throughout the Middle Ages. (I know of at least one 14th-century bear mauling mentioned in a coroner's report but it's a chained performing bear that got loose, so you can always go with that.) But supposedly wild bears went extinct before 600. Apparently, there were still wolves in England in small numbers through the 15th century because monarchs would still issue periodic extermination orders, but the numbers were already very low. Wild wolves held on longer in Scotland and Wales so in theory there might have been more near those borders. Anyway, I wouldn't worry about it too much. That mod also has turkeys and potatoes and tomatoes and other non-English medieval things, but it really limits what you can make if you try to be totally accurate.
@@higglety230lol gotta lean on the suspension of disbelief in the sims a lot. I also don’t have my sims hunt because of poaching! And yeah u cant have much fun cooking with that mod without having to compromise accuracy. i feel like it’s because the mod is trying to cover a very broad geography and timeline.
@@SleepyTimeSims yes, there is no reason to think LBB was thinking of Medieval England when they made the mod. It works perfectly for Colonial America.
Yeah I found it really interesting but no bears existed in England at this time. I remember when first hearing everybody talk about the bear attacks with the ye olde cookbook mod and I’m like “well that wouldn’t be very accurate, there’s no bears in England!” … And I was like “but was there ever bears in England?” 🤔🤔🤔 So I looked into it and there were bears in England a very very long time ago but they were hunted to extinction somewhere around 800 C.E?? (?? I can’t remember exactly the decade, I’ll have to fact check that and get back to you!) However what I do find really fascinating is that the story of Disney’s Brave of Merida living in Highland Scotland and there were bears would have been accurate because around the time that Merida was alive there would have been bears in England… So this whole storyline about her dad being the “bear king“ I feel like it’s kind of a funny inside historical joke because somebody had to poach all the bears amiright?? … 😏😏😏
Hope you'll keep me posted on how your UDC goes! 😊 And I'll try to fit in some time to make a CC showcase one of these days, but I have a ton of mods and cc so it might be a bit long to select which ones to show 😅 I have a list on my tumblr of the creators whose cc I have in my game, in case that helps: bit.ly/3TDLsII
Hi l'm new here and l found your channel through another Sims video and l check out your family tree and there no death or birth year so how do we know when they die or when they are born
Hi there! You're right, it's a bit of a limitation of the website I used for the family tree; there's no field specifically for year of birth or death. Now that you've mentioned it though, I've gone and added the years as part of the "description" of each sim, so if you click on a sim's picture in the family tree, it should now be at the bottom of their profile under their gender!
