Sighs I'm like the only person who didn't find this movie scary...i didn't really like it and I was so excited to see it after all the hype about it. It's like The Ring just used sex instead of a tape. The BEST thing about the movie was the music
The T-shirt says it all. This guy knows his horror and he's spot on with this review of It Follows. I pre-ordered it already and it's the scariest horror film I've seen since probably the original Alien. It's that damn good!
Bro I've no idea how your vids only have less than 1000 views, you are way better than any other horror reviewer on youtube. I enjoy the mental patient "boots to reboots" guy, and one or two others, but yours are the best. You review films better than even the "big shots" like Stuckmann or Jeremy Jahns. (I actually like both sometimes but they are a bit too overzealous for big budget CGI crap and they typically don't like horror). Keep up the awesome work.
This is weird for me because I didn't rate it, their was no explanation for the source of the entity, it wasn't remotely scary, a little creepy perhaps with naked people walking really slowly at you, but for thrills no, and the ending was just drab, I know lots of people like it though, I just want masterpieces back like "The ring", Alien, The thing,... "looks out the window and sighs"
Between It Follows and House of the Devil these two films are our best two modern North American horror films. I’d loved to hear your opinion on the film “Livide” it’s a French horror film that doesn’t get a lot of credit but it’s a modern day masterpiece in itself. Great video!
It Follows is one of my absolute favorites. Every time I go back to it I am amazed about the effect it has on me. I would love it if you reviewed Drag Me to Hell. There aren’t many reviews for that movie on RU-vid and I think it should be talked about wayyy more often!
I thought this movie was terrible. There was nothing scary about it and the characters were also incredibly irritating. Why doesn't the demon just kill the main character instead of toying with her. She seems to kill everyone else quickly enough.
Great review man. Yeah I absolutely loved this movie. Finally another movie that got under my skin. People have forgotten what a good horror movie is. Gore amd jump scares don't make a good horror movie. Most of the people I recommended it to didn't like it. Then I thought about it and that's because they were mostly younger generation. Lol but anyway I could go on and on. Great review
I’m not big into horror films- but I absolutely loved It Follows. Scary as hell with the amazing music and the tension/relationships between the characters- I think that sells it more than anything. I’d even be down with a sequel/prequel that maybe explores the history of the creature.
I bought this movie last October because I found it in a Walmart that's like 5 mins. from my house in Steelbook form for like $8 or something...maybe less. (Found this and the original The Evil Dead Steelbook for the same price) I think that's a big reason as to why I eventually got it..because they were my first Horror Steelbooks. I just watched this for the second time tonight...and I don't really get a lot of John Carpenter and Stanley Kubrick (two of my top 10 favorite directors) vibe from this all too much because I feel that this picture is more unique than that. I feel like it's a more unique take to classic horror movies...like Halloween...I feel that it definitely pays homage to the classic horror movies...but it's even more unique than just that. (Hopefully you understand what I'm trying to say...had a long day at work and I'm worn out. Haha.) Take care, Lee! Have a great day! P.S. Would you ever consider reviewing or even doing a DrumDumsWatches of Kubrick's and more of Carpenter's films? (I think it'd be cool if you did a DrumDumsWatches for The Crow too...I know you probably get a ton of suggestions, but I'd really enjoy watching my favorite channel on RU-vid do reviews on these.)
It's definitely unique. I noticed Kubrick in some of the score moments and especially during the 360 degree camera scene. And Carpenter in the direction when the girls are walking down the street...and when J is looking out the window in school.
Drumdums Sounds like I'll have to check this out again just to get some more out of it. Haha. (I can't remember if you talked about this or not... maybe you did and I just forget) but the scene where Jay's in the classroom and sees It out the window and the teacher is talking about some deep stuff (I forget what she's talking about) reminds me of Halloween, as well.
Zach Pohlman I came across it on Netflix a few months ago. I’d heard of it though not generally into horror films; but movies like this that don’t rely on jumps and gore I can go for.
I mostly agree with this review, but I'm afraid I don't understand your remark about how the movie's plot happens because the main character is "severely flawed". Why does having sex make her severely flawed?
That is a good point. I don't necessarily think that her having sex makes her flawed, but by traditional horror movie standards (especially 80s erra), the act of having sex automatically makes the character the go-to final girl, or "flawed". I totally get what you're saying though.
Drumdums If what you're saying is that she subverts the usual virginal and overly pure "final girl" image of the classic horror movie, then I do agree wit that. Anyway, I've subscribed.
I know this video is old ha but I also sent to see it in theaters I loved it actually just bought the bluray I can totally see that 70s feel deff agree its a good one. Personally I love going to see all horror movies in theaters since they are my fav cant wait till more come out. I'm looking forward to your reviews!
Meaghan Layden It Follows was one of my favorite films this year. I saw it twice in the theater even. This is one of my favorite reviews I've done too because it was so fun talking about this movie.
PlatoKaramazov Yes. This movie stayed with me for such a long time. I saw it twice in the theater and can't wait to own it on blu-ray. Thanks for watching!
Yeah I loved this movie. The only thing that bothered me was it was supposed to take the shape of people you know and then its tall creepy man and weird old lady? That I didn't care for but I loved how you never knew if it was the person behind them or not following them so that added a bit to the creep factor.
Hey dude! I found your channel and have been loving all your reviews! Really awesome stuff and some great insights! :) I'm a filmmaker myself, and I made a movie kind of like It Follows. It's called White Orb and its on my youtube channel. I'd be honored if you'd check it out (also be sure to watch Kaptin Boom, I think you'll like both of them). Thanks man! Anyways, keep rockin' and I can't wait to see more of your videos.
