Hi!!! My name is Megan. I am a state of Delaware employee. I worked in the Delaware Veterans home. Id like to email a petition link we have against them please? Im trying to push it out into the media and unfortunately the political affiliations in this state prevent that. There have been 2 lawsuits won by individuals in the LGBTQIA+ community that are P.O.C.; several clear documented complaints of racism; discrimination, harassment, retaliation, bullying and abuse. Its disgusting and atrocious. My personal ptsd (law enforcement and family member) was intentionally triggered on the floor to "gauge if i lied". Still. That isnt the worst. They just signed on a building admin that believes the "past needs to be left at the dumpster" but 96% of the residents have ptsd. I do apologize. I dont want to detract from the importance of this subject. Ive recently been digging into kids growing up in the system. It breaks my heart. I saw a documentary on here. I feel so bad. @Bbrriicchh yea basically nothing but committees?! The director was supposedly walked out last week that did the ptsd thing. The hr rep that was on the phone with her at that time and harassed me after surgery (workman's comp) literally bought the house one over from me. My bestie, I sent him screen shots bc I felt none of the race based or harassment or discrimination (sexual orientation) claims were swept under the rug. He agreed. I received a text from the woman who started it a few days ago and I asked him if I could say that to her. I didn't wanna speak out of place? He said definitely and she just shrugged it off. I still have emails, videos of my besties calls with the director and she was nasty, I have emails from me contacting fluffing media a year before but bc of politics no one wants to do anything. It's horrible. If thats how they treat staff how are they gonna treat residents that are in the lgbtia+ community? I'm sorry but thanks for asking
Prisons are by their very nature places of torture. If people commit crimes of theft because they are hungry, feed them. If people commit crimes because they are forced onto the streets, give them a place to live without bars. If someone kills another in the heat of anger, put this person in a position where their anger and revenge are not able to repeat their aggressive crimes, without bars. Give these people a closely supervised job for 6 -8 -10 - 12 hours a day, whatever they need to manage their anger. Give these persons counseling, social work therapies and family stress reduction assistance. Whatever the reason a crime was committed, make sure the person doing the crime has corrective and minimal least restrictive environments. The job of society is to help those who have revolted against social expectations, the help they need to return to society as soon as is reasonable with demonstrated positive results. No human being should be put in a cage for an entire lifetime much less a long term that takes away their natural human genius to contribute to society.
Don’t be ridiculous. Where are you going to put killers and thieves? On an iceberg? If you don’t want to go to jail… don’t break the law. Women in jail should be treated like human beings but it’s not supposed to be a happy place. That’s why it’s called punishment. It’s not supposed to be fun.

Section 2340A of Title 18, United States Code, prohibits torture committed by public officials under color of law against persons within the public official's custody or control. Torture is defined to include acts specifically intended to inflict severe physical or mental pain or suffering. (It does not include such pain or suffering incidental to lawful sanctions.) The statute applies only to acts of torture committed outside the United States. There is Federal extraterritorial jurisdiction over such acts whenever the perpetrator is a national of the United States or the alleged offender is found within the United States, irrespective of the nationality of the victim or the alleged offender.
“If you want to abolish slavery. Abolish incarceration” I am a former inmate of MCIW. I was housed in pre-released. Pre-released is suppose to be housed in an Annex. We were integrated with Maximum and Minimum security, which could be (and has been) dangerous. It’s sicking how the justice treats women. BLACK women at that sun it comes to their male counterparts.
Prerelease programs seem like common sense for all citizens in order to reduce recidivism and give released citizens a sense of support. These women obviously want to be productive members of their community and the community has to be willing to accept what they offer by providing sanctuary DURING and after incarceration. This abandonment of alleged and convicted criminals is socially unacceptable. We will be judged by how we treat our most vulnerable.
Ok I was in jessup (doc) women’s prison. Please don’t make it a race issue because I’m Native American and I got treated like crap! Sick of this race card people pull that is a lie! Most of the guards are African American so all women are being treated bad!! So if you want to help ? Then help all!!!!
I was there for nine months. It's horrible. They have an entire building that's been condemned that they're still housing women in. They pay a huge fine to be able to house the women in it.

Upon my release from Walpole. I got a public transport pass for 6 months and tons of resources. And help starting my own business. A lot of men didn't use the help they gave out.

It’s jail. If you break the law, you’re going to end up there. You know what jail is like. Everyone knows how horrible American jails are. Yet the crimes continue. It’s not a race issue, it’s a criminal issue because all races are in prisons because all races commit crimes. That said, women need to be treated like human beings. All prisoners should. But menstrual supplies should be freely available, for sure. Being pregnant should put you in a ward for pregnant women.
I hope they get treated human at least. This should make them not want to come back and the real point I think. It's was never going to be like camp or vacation. But I think that they should be treated humanly. Men also.👍
Incarceration as a crime deterrent has never been a thing. We know community inequality is the strongest driver of crime, not immaturity or rebelliousness. Incarceration has always been about vengeance, not Justice, punishment, reform, or community health.
@@jb2736 keep telling yourself that but it'll never be true. With the highest rate of incarceration in the world, the US crime rate is unaffected by the incarceration rate. The crime rate is affected by anti-recidivism programs, community organization battling inequality, and reformation instead of incarceration systems. Your vengeance fixes nothing.

Ah Glen Pollyanna, there are 5 (five) separate charges any bully in blue can slap any citizen with at will. Your only defense is to be an attorney, a higher level politician, or full time military.
On average the US citizen unknowingly breaks a law at least twice per day, we live in a country that has been steadily been turning into a 'prison state'. A huge amount of prisons have been privatized, which is an incentive for the pollies and their blue henchman to complete their quota for the day in order to get their big fat paycheck and many legal/illegal perks. Thousands upon thousands of people are in jail / prison for non-crimes, a TRUE crime must involve damage and or loss of body and or property. The JUST-US system is corrupt from the top- down, essentially it is screw you unless you are blue .
