I remember getting The Warmth of Other Suns out of the library and someone had not only underlined text but had also used highlighters. Ha, "Would you please pass the jelly?"--of course in a Texas accent. I had forgotten that commercial! The bathroom: never library or borrowed books. Never. I loaned someone a book once and they dropped it in the bathtub and just returned it like it was no big deal!
Great tag, Angelia. This is a perfect one for a librarian! I have also never found anything that I wanted in a little free library, but I do donate to them regularly.
Angelia, during my brief stint working at a library, a lady came in to return a huge stack of children’s books. I started checking them in when an objectionable odor arose. Next thing I knew, I had pooh on my hands. I looked at her and said “is this pooh” and she just laughed. It was on several books. I called my boss to deal with it and washed my hands for a very long time. People! They’re the worst!
@@constancecampbell4610 People are indeed the worst!!! She laughed!? That's just awful. That's worse than any of the regrettable things I found in library books.
Public librarian here. Fun things found in books as bookmarks: Used bandaid, sucker stick, square of toilet paper, condom wrapper, and (my personal favorite) a slice of bacon.
@@adrienneteague992 These are priceless, especially the bacon! As a school librarian I found bandaids, candy wrappers and TMI items from the kids' homes like medical paperwork, bills and court papers. Then I'd have to figure out where it came from and send it back home!
I don't dog ear, but I definitely crack the spines of my own books. There are only a few exceptions. I know this is more of an European than an American problem, but the bindings of some of the books you get here are so tight, that it drives me absolutely nuts how difficult they are to read. So comfort over looks it is.
@@ameliareads589 The tight bindings are a problem indeed. Why do they make them like that!? I really appreciate everything about a well made, comfortable book with good paper, fonts and binding.
I bought 2 books at a thrift store for a little library. A Mitch Album 5 people you meet in heaven and the Shack. I have these 2 in my collection. I wanted to bless someone with them😊
¡Hola! Me, again! IMA drop this tag in a minute 😂 Great answers and books, and you make me laugh 😊 People who "crack spines" of books make me _cringe,_ too 😒 Q) "Where did W.C. Fields keep his library?" A) In the bathroom. 😮 Wish I could read on a beach!
💯 percent agree with you!! and I am surprised there was no question about eating and drinking while reading. One of the reasons I do not like getting library books is when I find food or beverage stains, crumbs in the pages... ugh! I tried eating and reading a few times and because I am a clumsy person it messed up a book or two and that was it... no more. I usually have a few books going. An Audio book for the long commute and while driving to my home visits for work, a book of fiction and a non fiction book. I rarely purposefully DNF (most memorable DNF was The Shack I think of myself as a passive DNF person that I just lose interest, have book ADHD which causes me to set it aside intending to finish i.e Demon Copperhead for something I have heard about 🤔
@@marciajohansson769 Book ADHD could have been in the questions, too. Or book "wandering eyes." I get nervous about mystery stains in library books! Nevertheless I'm a reading snacker, I confess. I'm pretty much drinking tea a lot of my waking hours so I try to be careful.

Hi Angelia, i’m also reading “sense and sensibility” and a mystery. Yes I ventured into polygamy.😊 I have used a paper towel instead of a bookmark. I know you will hate this, but I hate bookmarks. They always fall out for me. But I don’t dog ear either. Aloha friend.
I'm just now finding some "lost" comments that I didn't reply to. Unless RU-vid is pranking me, because I remember reading this! Anyway, do what you must with your paper towels, lol!
