Did people forget that (asides PP) he barely played with McDavid the year before and ended up with a higher point total? McDavid mainly had pulijarvi, Kane, nuge and Yamamoto as his linemates and still was able to reach 83 points / 36 goals. He was efficient in a different way. He just knew what he had to do this year. Is he worth 11 mill though? No lol but he's definitely a good player. No other winger mcdavids played with comes close to what Hyman has accomplished, so it can't be just a simple stand there and tip.

for 1 year he is rated that high. 2 more years at that scoring clip before i think he's worth that kind of cake.

Yeah I mean if Boeser played with mcdavid he probably does the same if not better I feel boeser is a better player if you put him with mcdavid instead of Hyman

@@Jooseppi420 last 6 years boeser averages 63 points a season. last 6 years hyman averges 54. A. boeser is younger and more consistent than hyman who has been playing on playoff teams his entire career. B. you probably don't know wtf you are talking about, do you?

I'm an Edmonton fan, born and raised here... I argue that there are many players on the Oilers whose value is misinterpreted because they play with McDavid and Draisaitl. Looks at Barrie, and other players who will never live up the the numbers they posted when they played in Edmonton with the two best players in the league. So it's like we are expected to overpay (case in point Nurse, who is NOT worth his contract IMO), for inflated numbers. Oilers have inflation problems worse than anyone else lol

Thing about Zach Hyman is can he perform like that without Connor McDavid. Or is it just exclusive to Conner McDavid where he can perform a 50 goal season? He's playing with one of the best players on the planet. He's consistent though, so I kind of expect him to get up to at least 40 goals again next season.

That's not the thing with Zach Hyman. The thing with Hyman is that he plays like this next to McDavid, and that nobody else has been able to play like this next to McDavid. Ability to play with stars and know the role you need to fill is a valuable skill.

im worried about emberson taking passes from drai and davo. Hes missed soft ones so the snappy snaps will be a challenge/ liability.

McDavid could play with a chair, and the chair would still score 20 goals, put that chair on the powerplay with Draisaitl and McDavid and that chair scores another 15 goals. Hyman should have had 60 goals and 110 points, he would be just an average player on any other team

I mean, I think any half decent forward would look like a super star if they’re playing with McDavid regularly. Wether he’s feeding you dimes to tap in, or you’re feeding him the puck, you’re getting a ton of points on the same line as the guy who will minimum get 100 points every year.

This is the major problem with the NHL players put up fantastic numbers solely on the fact of the talent they're playing with and players sign these huge contracts then the teams priced out and when the player goes to other teams the productions never there hockey is a team sport so many people get paid millions and millions of dollars because of the players they played with

Didn't Hyman play well next to Toronto's stars, and then play better next to Edmonton's? So he kind of played himself into a bigger contract and now he's playing up to and past that contract? I know what you're saying happens...but that's not what has happened with Hyman.

So, many wrong numbers on this vid...lol...Love Hymans play, but idk if he could those numbers without McD.... Bouch 5 mill tops also on a Sharks team what would he get for points and lotta defensive errors Ekholm makes him look way better..lol...Kane worth his 5 mill all day everyday....And Nurse jus got paid early....He took 2 bridge early in career then after having good year in bubble ...And he also signed his 9 mill after, other dummies signed Jones and Werenski to 9 mill first...I'd take Nurse over those 2 any day...Don't worry in 4 years gonna be a lot of other D making way more than 9...If that makes haterz feel better...lol

The Oilers aren't paying Hyman $11M. They are paying him $5.5M for the next four years... that is the whole point of this posting.

If you believe Hyman is an $11.3 million player I have a hockey team to sell you. He has a good contract but his performance is driven by playing with a superstar. Any surplus value on his deal is mostly associated with that superstar.

How's that working in Toronto? There's 4 superstars there, they inflating numbers like that? Hyman is an excellent hockey player and he's allowed to thrive on the Oilers, he benefits from playing with Drai and McDavid, and they benefit from playing with Hyman.

@@idrissuhrheinrich6633 Boesser is not nearly as good as a forechecker as Hyman, he has a much better shot than Hyman but I think Hyman's skill set is well suited to McDavid's style of play. Boesser is also in his final year of a deal at $6.5M so he is already more expensive than Hyman and about to become a lot more expensive.

Foegele and mcleod, did cmpbell take a little off? I forget. Cap increase, drai is a deal, hyman a deal, henrique took a team friendly deal, perry 1.2.. its stretched but somehow we got lucky. We will be very strapped very soon.. cup or bust!

why are they paying these losers so much money, they couldn't win the stanley cup, especially Darnell Nurse he is definitely not worth 9 million, he is a terrible player and they are stuck with him, nobody wants his huge contract or his useless talent.
