I really dislike all in Nadu lists so this list being a cool back door into a combo style list really scratches an itch for me. I would be very content if Nadu could become this “splinter twin” style combo where you slot it into decks as a support combo but Nadu is just a really good creature that kind of has levold text on it and every once in awhile you just combo win.
Title: "IT JUST KEEPS WINNING...SOMEHOW" This deck has good threat density and doesn't have card disadvantage cards. I think that's an underrated asset in this format where people often take on card disadvantage (FoW, Lotus Petal, Mox Diamond, Chrome Mox, Dazes that may not do anything after the early game, etc).
Well, it has Force of Vigor and Endurance as "card disadvantage", but it's really not that bad. Like, Force usually is a 2-for-2, it's only a 2-for-1 if you REALLY need something dead, Endurance affects many matchups, and both are really not that hard to cast in a deck like this. Also, the deck could either explode into a combo or do very well in the long games, it's a type of decks I really like playing and playing against, it's fair-ish.
I love this! Ever since the insidious roots league a couple weeks ago I’ve been thinking of a similar BUG list with insidious roots, lightning greaves, and tortured existence for that combo as well. Would need some slightly different cards for tortured existence synergies but I can’t stop thinking about it. Cute? Probably. But I like that Greaves works with both Nadu and Insidious roots.
At 1:07:21, wasting Yavimaya gets rid of three mana, one from Tomb, one from Eye, and one from Yavimaya itself. So in the following turn they couldn't cast their Eldrazi while keeping their Scion alive
I came here to say this. Also, Phil miscounted Yavimaya too. It was worth 3 as well (Yav, Ancient Tomb and the extra from Eye). Granted, Eye was always the right call.
Hey Phil, there was a tiny point of optimisation where you let them equip jitte, attack with the cloak token then blow them out removing both equipment and blocking It didnt end up mattering bc they attacked with the bear anyway, but its an interesting thing to think about if they decide to hold back, and it loses to the same interaction
I don't think anything is ban-worth in Eldrazi at this time. I think if a TON of pressure isn't on decks to keep up with the UB shell, the metagame can adapt to a fair creature deck like Eldrazi.
