I'm Phil Gallagher and I play awesome decks in eternal formats every day! I've been playing since about Scars of Mirrodin, and I spent much of my time as a competitive Death and Taxes player. I have many tournament top 8s and wins with both D&T and Red Prison, including a SCG Classic Top 8 and a Legacy Challenge win. I am a host of The Eternal Glory Podcast, owner of ThrabenUniversity.com, member of the Legacy Premier League, and general lover of janky decklists.

oh jesus, this is what I get for skipping through all the advertisements. I've ordered old RL cards from TOAMagic like 4 different times and never knew you partnered with them. You think they will retroactively give me 5% back?
Nice to see a positive result as this is one of my pet decks :) Personally, I like a couple of The One Ring in it, it's a draw engine that also gives us protection for a turn. And once MH3 is out, I'd jam the new bauble over Def Grid - that I have always found a bit mid, cause apart from the nonsense hand, we often go off after T4 that means 3 or more lands for the oppo :) Great video as always!
With 13 lands, the MH2 card would’ve been really good. The one mana call land or non land and reveal until you hit whatever you called. Someone will know the name.
Why didn’t you play thought lash at 11:52 when you had 4 mana and drew it. You’d still have force of will backup and you could thassa’s combo the very next turn. 😅
12:50 i feel like you couldve made more of a game of this one if you played the Thassa's Oracle as an early body with scry. You have so much redundancy on your A+B, you could afford to waste one on warding off the 1/1s and digging for those islands. in general this deck seems to choke hard against beatdown without UU, maybe those ancient tombs need to be something like Petal or Saprazzan Skerry
what did Doomsday use to win before Thassa's Oracle? i want to say it's been a deck from before that printing, but I wasn't paying attention to legacy back then
"Good job playing to your outs" Doesn't play to his outs, I wanted to see what would happen in that final round, It takes you 15 seconds to just see what happens. Never know, opponent could just draw lands the rest of the game and we win. Otherwise phenomenal video!
I played a deck like this years ago with Legacy Staple Skill Borrower and some Griselbrands and Kiki Jikis in the deck. Thought Lash, with any effect that reveals or shows you the top card of your library continuously becomes a top deck tutor every draw. I’m not sure I’d go all in on like, Lantern of Insight or anything, but it’s an angle that provides a little more synergy for the Lash.
"Some kind of weirdo free spell that kills Thassa's Oracle at instant speed that I'm not thinking of" - Pyrokinesis would qualify. In theory Thunderclap would work too but that card is largely is unplayed. They could also in theory have Simian Spirit Guide into Pyroblast or REB. Though with one card in hand the only option would be Thunderclap, which again is pretty unplayable.
Tidebinder also counters the storm triggered ability by the way... and also the thassa trigger. I really think you should have sideboarded that in in round 2
Starting a league and running into 4xWasteland, 4xCounterspell Game 1 Match 1 would make me press the power button on the computer and go outside for a while.
Thank you for playing the deck. Really appreciate your thoughts :) Tip for anyone interested: 28:42 when you stack the bottom of your deck it's always best to put Oracle on the very bottom if you can so you can find it with Lash
0:55 I always wanted to use something like Geiger Reach or Loren, or even Ancestral to punish a thoracle. But luckily LabMan and Jace don't have that problem
44:00 I’m sure someone already pointed this out, but you could also swing and sac the blood token to activate fatal push (assuming they didn’t have the plow ofc)
Dear Sir, I'm more interested in the deck tech and the ideas behind the choices than the gameplay. If you have the time, maybe you can have the extended deck techs in separate videos. I know it is not for everyone
This has been basically my list for legacy nights for a while now, I have switched up a little to add brainstorm and ponder instead of the hyper burn elements. Thanks for showcasing something I didn’t know others were playing!
I wonder if a Crucible of Worlds could be a consideration for the deck (Even as a 1-of). Obviously amazing when looping Wasteland, but also as a means of constantly growing Stalactite/keeping Push live (And thinning the deck).
