@@thecarrotsarecoming4711 your response to their response after reading the setup to a joke that wasn't even that funny but took a really long time to get to the punchline
I had a similar experience with an ad for "Bee Movie" when it first came out: I was standing on a NYC street, in line for a different movie, and out of the corner of my eye, I caught a poster for it on a taxi cab, with the tagline "Honey just got funny," but in that split second, I swore it said "Bee Movie: It's just not funny." XD
It reminds me of the time that I confidently said the phrase "nail Polish" (Polish pronounced like the nationality) in high school Spanish class because the teacher was writing it out letter by letter
It reminds me of this time when my friend was saying “Addison Rae” to me and I asked her to repeat herself like 5 times because I was so confused as to why she was saying “add a sun ray”. We laughed for like 10 minutes straight after I told her what I thought she was saying.
Wanna preface this by saying I'm basically bilingual in terms of frequency of use: use Germany all day every day at work but English is my mother tongue. I think sometimes using two languages this much can mess with your head when it comes to remembering random words in each. Got home from work one day, had a convo with someone where I needed to mention someone's grandfather, but couldn't remember the word grandfather itself. My brain dug real hard to try and think of wtf the word was and then finally spit out: "Oh yeah, that's his Superdad."
I'm bilingual as well, Finnish is my mother to tongue but I'm also fluent in English. I constantly forget words, only able to remember them in the language I am not using... one time I forgot the English word for towel. Of all things, *towel* eluded me
I am trilingual. I forgot how to say no in Spanish. So I said it in Hebrew, because I had just spent 6 months in Israel. No in Spanish is no. The parent I was speaking to was clearly confused, but said nothing.
Wait, are you a trans woman named Isabelle? I'm a genderfluid and that was the name my parents gave me when I was born, so I'm happy to just trade bitth certificates if you're up for it /hj
