Looking forward to the motor tuning repair...I bet you are right about the dried lubricant being part of the problem. That's an amazing radio...thanks for saving it.
Looking good Manuel. Nice to see the excitement come out and temporarily ditch the methodical circuit tracing and just plug it in, it's difficult to resist sometimes 😂
Coming along nicely That twin triode front end is good and clear. I finished your tube tester off today and used it on an old Grundig 2417's EABC80 which was down to less than half output and gassy too. A new one has really livened up this fine old set. Many thanks for the design!
Manuel, Thank you for editing out all of the airbrushing and scrubbing less the chopsticks more's the pity. Your finish reveal reminded me of watching a drone flight over an oil refinery The content keeps improving, the set your paying outrageous prices for our certainly going up in value after your restorations regardless of how one feels about restoring the actual metal of the YOUR chassis.
Good progress, looks clean. Looking forward to the electro-mechanical bit now. Personally I feel this is the most challenging part in the restore. Hope all the windings are OK.🤞
Clean a chassis to clear the head id a good idea. But please remember there are not enough radios in the world to fix all problems. Take care [Ps watching your videos is very therapeutic for a lot of us]
You adjusted that lever to switch the clutch, but I think I heard it scratch against the back wheel after that. It must let the wheel run free after switching, so maybe that drags the auto tuning speed to a hold ? And for the paint.... White at the front is not a good idea I think, it will reflect all the licht from the bulbs all over the place, and it could come out at the knob axes etc. I would have picked white behind the pointers, but matt black for the rest of the front. But hé, this is the comment section but indeed your radio 😛
Is there that you could print out a new piece and use it in a process to allows you to make a mould from the 3D Printed part then have someone caste the part from brass.
You’ve probably got an isolated problem, if you’re only having to work on only the AM/FM section of the radio 📻. PLEASE DO NOT disassemble the dial cord system on this. It will be NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE to put it back together, without A LOT of snapshots 🫰, or a schematic diagram. RU-vidr, Shango066 has addressed this on one ☝️ of his German radios 📻. Chances are, you’ll never 👎 get the dial cord system back together right again. Sorry 😞 about the emojis, I seem to like 👍 them. Your friend, Jeff.
