If you try to install Office 97 with Plus! 95 installed, Desktop Themes would cause an illegal operation when try to change a theme. Although Microsoft provided a revised version of Desktop Themes on the Office 97 CD which you had to replace THEMES.EXE with a revised version of THEMES.EXE.

Why you not try max payne on pentium 1 mmx? You can download demo on any sites. 3d accelerator can be pci so in 80486 it posible start quake 3 or unreal tournament on software rendering. For max payne need 3d so it minimum pentium 1 or mmx.

My search history must have pointed me to this video. Two weeks ago I installed a printer driver on a genuine IBM PC 486 running Win95. It's been running the same piece of lab equipment for the past 27 years!

The good old days. I started on computers on windows for workgroups 3.11 on my first PC. I took that microsoft sound startup sound .wav file from my mom's PC which has win 95 and set it as my startup music on my win 3.11 machine. I still have a copy of that old sound recorder program and it does start up but it thinks I don't have a sound card. Would be nice to get that old recorder working on modern computers.

Coool computer with 5.25 disk drive!!! I saw this computer and worked only at scool (27 -28 years later). Soft floppy disks were very annoying!!!

PC User 486 with a Pentium system!? Great demo, shows how snappy Windows 95 actually was on good hardware for the time. I know a lot of the kids think PCs of this era felt slow which wasn't the case. Also interesting little peek of 16 bit Windows 3 style when you changed the theme, Microsoft must have re-used something there.

I still remember how I checked the soft (envelope) 5.25 disk using Norton Disk Doctor 😛😛😛 95-ME is a very buggy OS. Frequent Blue Screen of Doom (BSoD). 1st stable OC - Winddows 2000.

I had those exact same speakers back in 1996, I liked them very much, I also had a microphone attached to a Soundblaster card and used the "Sound recorder" program to record casual sounds. Using a PC as a multimedia workstation was a great and exciting innovation back then

The most unstable, buggy version of Windows ever. This started with the pre-release and wasn't even fixed in version b. Once you got ANY error one single random time, the whole install would go corrupt to an unusable state and you'd have to format, reload, download IE4 again on 2400 baud and etc. 98 First Edition cleared up the degradation where you could simply restart and you're good. If not scanreg /restore. '95 makes the Migraine Edition stripped of DOS look stable as a rock 🪨
