One thing that Equestria Girls does well with their songs, is that the villain songs always slap while the protags get more lighthearted and kinda corny songs- (minus one I think)
Past is not today is pretty good, but I also quite like Midnight in me (even if it's the same melody as Luna's song in the Christmas episode because that song is also great)
I like how you used the word hypnotizing to describe “Under Our Spell” because I’m not sure if you gathered this without context, but those characters are sirens, so most of their songs have this sound where you just feel forced to bop along.
Fr, I was literally looking for this comment bc I was thinking the same thing bc he said that, I was thinking that they are sirens and are literally hypnotizing ppl lol
This version of the song is not "official", but it's just very well edited and doesn't have the mane 6 part in it. Check it out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-e42yCiipGMA.html
Ya, Equestrian Girls has some of the best songs in the series(counting Friendship is magic because they are connected). Especially Rainbow Rocks and Friendship Games. They composed and created the songs so perfectly, I also feel like that’s when they finally realized that a good portion of the fan base were older kids or adults so they tried to create a mix of fun for the little kids while also intriguing the rest of us.
"I just have to say that i like their sound more!" Mathew is just stating facts here. The first time I heard this song I prefered the Dazzlings more because their voices sounds so strong, natural and really fits the vibe. Sure the Rainbooms were nice but I have to say that their voices sounded more like chipmunks singing and it didn't really match the song's vibe until Sunset Shimmer joined in.
Which actually makes sense, since Sunset Shimmer _literally was the piece they were missing to achieve harmony_ - both in their friendships AND musically. ...Rainbow Rocks is so good.
fun fact twilight sparkle (the purple main character) and sunset shimmer (the orange character in the end) have the same singing voice actor. So she basically had a duet with herself i copyed this to show you
under our spell is sooo good but here’s the thing.. THE AUDIO VERSION IS SOOO MUCH BETTER . they add an extra harmony and it makes it 100000% more enjoyable!!
A lot of Equestria Girls Shorts have really good songs. My personal favourites are "Run to break free", "The Other Side", "Shake things up", "Monday Blues", "Find the Magic" and "Let It Rain". If you ever make another reaction to EG songs, you should definatelly check some of these out
It's so refreshing to see someone like you react to music so genuinely, especially from MLP. A lot of people tend to be like "Ew ponies? Isn't that for little girls? This music is trash." (When it's not at all! Daniel Ingram is frickin incredible.) But you have an open mind and have a lot of amazing commentary. I appreciate it so much!
@@ILoveMayhem. I'd say it's friendly enough for kids to watch but a lot of the references/plot-lines in the episodes would go over their heads. Most of them wouldn't understand it like adults would. Then again there are lots of kids sensitive to emotion and they can feel for the main characters despite not being adults (during conflict or friend fights for example) It's for a very diverse audience to enjoy that's for sure :^)
That was basically my singular thought/opinion of mlp before giving season 2 episode 1 a shot(randomly recommended), and then discord happened and I loved him, and binged the entire series up to season 4(since season 5 wasn't out yet at the time) in a couple days. So, I have no right to get mad at people for thinking that, since I only started liking it because of a chaotic mishmash abomination.
Welcome to the Show is so funny to me because obviously the Mane 6 (7 in this case) are supposed to win, but the Dazzlings (the villains) song is just superior
seeing someone react to mlp songs without any bias from the fandom is really cool. just to know that these songs are objectively good is pretty validating 💀💀
Daniel Ingram is a beast when it comes to composing songs for the show and Equestria Girls. I feel like a lot of the songs from the Equestria Girls movies slap so much harder than a lot of the MLP songs. I love most of the songs the MLP show, but the music from the Equestria Girls' movies are amazing. I'm not a huge fan of Equestria Girls like I am with MLP, but I do appreciate and listen to the music pretty often.
If you want to listen to other good songs from the MLP franchise, there's the Movie, My Little Pony: The Movie. Open up your Eyes, Rainbows (sung by Sia by the way) and I'm the Friend that you Need are the best in my opinion, but they're all good! Anyway, superb video as always, keep it up!
Basically all the songs from the movie - One Small Thing is my go-to smile song (more than The Smile Song!) so I'd call it a must. The Friend You Need and Open Up Your Eyes are also ~bangers~
Day three asking you to react to a band called Tally Hall. They’re super underrated and have lots of good songs like “Hidden in the sand.”, “The Bidding.”, “Ruler of Everything.”, “Turn the Lights off.”
What gave these songs the right to go this hard? I actual forgot they were this good. On another note, could you please react to songs by Prelor? especially anything from their new album stars on my ceiling, I haven't seen anyone react to his stuff yet and their sound is something I haven't really heard before in terms of style.
I'm surprised he didn't notice that one thing that without context it would confuse the masses... Heres what it was: In the first song, The girl with yellow skin and red and yellow hair (Sunset Shimmer) was the villain, then in the last song she was helping them.... (Obviously I know what's going on because I watched the movie though 👀)
Did not expect this but I'm glad it happened. MLP is just my greatest favorite childhood show, since I watched every episode without knowing the order, and when I finished every episode, I started watching the newest seasons. Heck, I bought at least 6 mlp figurines or whatever u call them, that were all so expensive so I had to buy them once every few months or so. Sometimes a year.
There are many musical songs in the MLP series that you should do reactions to. Many of these songs have amazing sound, good lyrics and great performance. I hope to see a video from you where you listen to a compilation of the best songs from MLP from season 2 to season 9.)
You should totally react to more more starkid musicals! I'd recommend Twisted or Black Friday (they both have very good music in my opinion and Black Friday is kind of like a sequel to TGWDLM, but also not in a way?)
When i heard you say “welcome to the show” I legit had to pause the video and say a verbal _yes!_ Rainbow rocks was the first EG movie I’ve ever watched, and that was my favorite song from it. Honestly though MLP villain songs just absolutely slap, there’s no question to it.
Two of my favorite Equestria Girls songs you should check out are "We Will Stand for Everfree" and "Shine Like Rainbows" Everfree song is like "Unleash the Magic" whereas the orchestra and vocals are just amazing, and Shine like Rainbows have gorgeous harmonies.
Yeesss my childhood!! I hope you more of these! A few underrated gems I'd recommend are "Let It Rain", "Find The Magic", and "ACADECA". The first two, while not from the movies but rather one-off muaic videos, are surprisingly moving and relatable, while the last is so epic and ridiculously over the top that you can't help but love it lol. Oh, the "Pep Rally" song is also a total jam. ;)
Equestria Girls has some of the best songs, regardless of how anyone feels about the show/movies. They even released singles that came out with little music videos. I would LOVE to see you do more parts to this series!! Because there's a TON more songs that you'll like if you loved these! Some I'd recommend are: "Run to Break Free" "Midnight in Me" "I'm on a Yacht" (More of a joke but it kind of slaps even if it's cringe XD) "Friendship Through the Ages" "Coinky-Dink World" "True Originals" But there are plenty more!
Every song in the EQG franchise is an absolute banger, well i mean they may have their ups and downs like all songs do but they're all still fun ones to listen to!
Im excited for Mathew to get into the shorts. We have bangers like Coinky Dink World, Run to Break free, 5 to 9, heck Rainbow Rocks still has a more to give if only he could find a way to listen the full versions.
My favorite song in the vid is “welcome to the show” because basically the beat goes hard and I like how Their voices from change to low to high and I also like how They have different tones and I also like their fits like the colors go so well together but I also like “under our spell” because also theirs different beats to the song and How it changes also :)
Please react to some of the incredible fan-made mlp content Specifically "Lullaby for a Princess" and "The Moon Rises" are some really phenomenal ones. . . You mentioned you watched a couple seasons, so I'm not sure how much you've actually seen but, if you're wanting more from the actual mlp franchise, I'd highly recommend: "This Day Aria" "Smile" "A Kirin Tale" "The Flim Flam Brothers Song (The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000)" & There is a particular musical episode that includes some of the best mlp songs, that'd I honestly just recommend reacting to the whole episode to get the full vibe of it. It's a parody on "A Christmas Carol" and the songs in it are spectacular. "Say Goodbye to the Holiday" "The Seeds of the Past" "Pinkie's Present"
Now I really wanna see you react to the movies, they have a pretty solid continuity that you don't actually need a lot of context from the show to understand. And you know, they're fun.
The Dazzlings alone are a big reason to watch Rainbow Rocks. They're among the favourite antagonists in the entire series too, I think, and for good reason. You would probably like their Battle of the Bands song too. They also return much later in the series and do another song that's very different, but still works, I think.
Oh please do more Equestria Girls songs! People can say it's weird to have human versions of the ponies all they want, but they can't deny the songs are amazing!
sorry but i have to mention that one person who uploaded "unleash the magic.. but better" LIKE THAT IS LITERALLY GOLDDD they made the instrumental more noticeable which just makes me so happy!! whoever hasnt heard of that video i HIGHLY recommend checking it out if you like unleash the mgaic
Glad u like them, I’m 18 and I hate how people don’t get why I love this show causse of my age so I love watching adults realizing that most of the songs from the show are GREAT
There’s a video called something like Unleash the Magic But Better If you want to hear the instrumentals really well. If you couldn’t tell already, I love the instrumentals for this song lol.
If you haven’t already, I highly recommend “Shine Like Rainbows” and “We Will Stand for Everfree”. Both are amazing songs from Equestria Girls. Interestingly, Shine Like Rainbows is the end credits song but it’s sooooo good!
I used to have a plastic red diamond i acquired from one of those quarter machines, and i cannot describe the urge i had as a small child (who was obsessed with EG: Rainbow Rocks and the Dazlings) to ask my grandpa to make it into a necklace (i assume my thought process was drill a hole through it and then use a string). I'd legit hold it up to my chest when I'd watch this movie and as I sang along with them the Dazlings were so good at their singing that I wanted to BE one
There are some great songs in equestria girls. Rainbow rocks is one of my favorites, it also has alot of dope songs. Even now all these years later I got Trix up my sleeves is stuck in the back of my head.
Equestria Girls music is just on top level all around. Rainbow Rocks - the movie with the sirens - is easily among the best official releases for g4 altogether and a big part of that was the amazing songs it had. Glad that you liked it
Unleash the magic is easily one of the best songs I've heard in cartoons, honestly though, you can say bad stuff about mlp and the other songs all you like but they're bangers, especially the villain songs, they absolutely slayed
Oh my god I’m so glad I found you. I’m in middle school so I also felt dumb for liking MLP songs until you came along and you love it as much as I do! Thanks for raising my confidence man!
I'm gonna tell you what these songs are from (Or atleast, if I remember them correctly, I'm also gonna edit this comment the further I get into the video lol) The first one is from 'My Little Pony Equestria Girls' I'm pretty sure it's from the first My Little Pony Equestria Girls movie. The second one is from the same movie as the first one! (Not much to say about it 👀) I just remember that that song is from the end of the movie I believe. The third one (yes, I know that he already said what movie it's from, but I'm gonna say it anyway) is from 'My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks' Also, I believe Rainbow Rocks is the second Equestria Girls movie :) The fourth one is from the third movie, The movie is called 'My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Friendship Games' The fifth, and last song is from the same movie as the third song (but I'm gonna say the name of the movie anyway) 'My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks'
To be honestly, I am not suprised that people like the villians more when it comes to their music and looks in movies/shows like these, the villians have very sassy and good songs and great designs to match, bit when it comes to the heros, their songs are always so out off tune and corny most of the time, and their designs aren’t always as flashy, the concept of the heros songs are great, they are about, caring, friendship, love, etc. But they rarely make it a total bop. Come on, let’s be real now.
i don’t understand how he’s not absolutely dancing for the last song. i’m a 16 year old who is addicted to the purge and conjuring movies, but am jamming and jumping around in my room to that song at 1 am
The villain songs are my absolute favorite part of these movies. With the exception of Awesome As I Wanna Be and the Midnight In Me, I’m not too big of a fan of the other songs lol. I’ll still jam to them tho cause fuck if this wasn’t my entire childhoof
My Little Pony (the 4th gen) is the best one because of the masterful pieces they composed for their movies and the shows! They will stay in your head forever. I still listen to the playlist for these movies from time to time 😆
WE NEED A PART TWO THERE ARE SO MANY MORE GOOD ONES YOU HAVEN'T LISTENED TOOOOO :D The mlpeg songs are criminally underrated and they are such bangers!!! specifically i love: -ACADECA (from mlpeg friendship games) -What more is out there (mlpeg fg) -Right there in front of me (mlpeg fg) -Shine like rainbows (mlpeg rainbow rocks) -The midnight in me (mlpeg legend of everfree) -We will stand for everfree (mlpeg legend of everfree) -Legend of Everfree (main title)
I know its not from the same series but Ive listened to Open up your eyes and a few other songs from more recent movies. Ive watched the 1900s styled mlp too. Theyve gotten very good at it from then. Several catchy and amazing songs.
For clarification, the Twilight wearing glasses is the counterpart from the EQG world. And, if you think Cinch, the woman singing the song, seems horribly manipulative during the song, trust me, that isn't even the tip of the iceberg of how horrible a person she is. Sci-Twi, the Twilight with glasses, wasn't going to compete in The Friendship Games and Cinch wanted her to because she's the smartest student at Crystal Prep, but, since Sci-Twi had no interest in the games, Cinch literally threatened to have Twilight denied to enter another education program she'd signed up for if she didn't complete in the games. Yes, despite being the Principal, Cinch went so low as to threaten the future of one of her student's education, something that could be vital for their future career prospects, just so she could win a school game against CHS, all for her personal reputation. She gets fired, thankfully, even if off screen, but it really shows how vile a person Cinch truly is.
(5:45) "there are some many elements at work here, and they are blending perfectly" so what you're trying to say, is that the elements are in ... harmony? thank you, thank you. no applause is needed, you are too kind. I'll be here all night.
I remember loving these movies as a kid. I don't know if I would love them these days but its a great nostalgia trip for me. Btw Its funny to me how Mathew just figured out the plot of the movie at 5:15
The songs were something I've always enjoyed in my little pony, sure it's a kids show, whatever, the songs are still amazing and they just randomly pop up in my head
I have a recommendation, you should listen to the songs from Nijisanji EN, which is a vtuber company! There’s 5 so there isn’t too many so you could probably be able to fit them all into one video (the songs are also very different from eachother, I’m sure you’ll enjoy them! :D)
Duude, I remember hearing the first song for the first time in the cinema when it premiered and since then I have never heard it again until now. Thanks to this video I brought so many tears because of the nostalgia it brought me
11:03 I’m sure someone has already pointied this out but fun fact! Twilights voice actress Tara strong doesn’t do her singing! that’s done by Rebecca Shoichet and rebbeca also voices sunset (the one with the bacon hair) so that harmony is just one really talented person going off
