You should be on Discovery Channel. The way you explain and show findings is a good learning and entertaining for people who truly want to understand. :)
Hi Beau. I started up metal detecting and I just found an old 16th century pistol bullet in an area called Shooters Hill. Found out it comes from Highwaymen and robbers. Thanks for the influence!
I am very interested, I've been sucked in as I'm sure most of your fans have haha. A very interesting hobby indeed. Thanks for the uploads, keep it up bud!! Love it.
The scabbard you found is a fraternal sword used in the York Rite of Freemasonry. Most likely Knights Templar (highest degree of the YR), but absolutely York Rite by the crown and cross symbol. Great finds!
+Kern Dean That's such a shame. They could simply unsharpen it and give it to a children in a foster home or something. I would've love to have a real unsharpen sword in my hands when I was a child even if It was such a recent craft.
Hey- Really enjoy your clips. Your appreciation for nature is a plus. I've been watching on and off for quite awhile. You've formed a rapport with your viewers over time. Keep filming for us.
Amazes me how rivers were used as refuse dumpsters. As if the water just dissolves and washes away everything. But I have to admit it sure is fun looking through the stuff. Cool bottles! Thanks for taking me along...another fun video.
Hey Beau, I really enjoy your videos as well as your humor. I would love to see you on History or Discovery. I agree the you could never make a video too long. Have a happy new year.
Very cool treasure hunting. My understanding is that smooth bore muskets we commonly used by military during civil war for speed of loading. Rifle marks may or may not indicate fired bullets. Great to see a that history being preserved.
@Beau Ouimette thanks for the awesome videos. My dad and uncle have been relic hunters for years and there getting older so I decided to join them and make a few memories since they can no longer do some of the things we used to do. I used my dads old Ace 250 and really racked up on the civil war bullets, brass horse tacks, shotgun shells, and I even found a gilded button which was awesome.. Now I'm hooked so I'm buying my self an At Pro like my dad and uncle have and that new Garrett pointer lol .. Well good luck and keep making videos we love them .. Thanks
I envy you your youth, your health, and your finds, Beau. Your videos are always a pleasure to watch. I should have thought, though, that by now you'd have discovered enough lead to become a major supplier to an automotive battery manufacturer. A belated Merry Christmas to you, and all the best in 2015!
whooo hooo baby :) i like all of this video Beau no apology needed , its not just about digging up valuable thing, it fun to learn you (we throw you) have found, discovered, uncovered,a long forgotten past that sheds light on how things have change in past few 100 year and its been 50 of trash left to find on top of it, its truly amazing :)
It is amazing how bottles survive all the decades without breaking from freezing, etc. I bet you have a nice collection. In our area there is a fellow named Digger Dave who is selling off his finds. He probably has one of the best collections ever.
Time stamp 2:10 table for a drill press !The wife & I think this is much better then The history channel. Keep up the good work! . Keep up the good work we love watching !!
yeah beau, if your finding that much bottles there, you might be interested in digging the side of the creek, I'm sure you could find some more old bottles !
I love all the finds but the lock is great and the wedge really got me excited, what a great find!!!! Late Merry Christmas and enjoy all the new year brings my friend.
Beau, that is a Knights of Columbus, ceremonial sword. I have one just like it. if you can get the blade out, you might have the person's name. It looks like you have the upper middle section. Usually the name is etched on the blade in this area.
The Minie ball would be packed separate from the powder, although in the same paper tubes. Separate from the powder so the waxy lube doesn't contaminate the black powder.
2:11 That's an old coil from an antique metal detector. Maybe the first AT Gold. They were hard-core back in the day. I see similar blue Milk of Magnesia bottles on Ebay going at a "buy it now price of $10," to give you an idea of the value. I would keep it. It's pretty cool. I also checked on the Melons Infants Food bottle: $20 buy it now price on Ebay.
I gotta show my wife the end of this video, Beau. I showed her another video and she kept saying "That's a ring. That's a ring, too. I told her "No it's a shell." Maybe she'll listen to you! The round thing you picked up after the section of parlor stove is part of a cream separator(probably De Laval). The jack thingy looks like part of a grain drill(a planter for small grains) The ratchet is for depth adjustment and the horn shaped piece is the part that the seed drops thru into the dirt. Later, man. 57
***** With the price of iron and steel now, these creekside dumps will disappear with time by rust. So it's good for the environment-- and bad for relic hunters in the future. I guess the bottles will survive, though. 57
The scabbard may also be from the knights of Malta as well. I have a sword and scabbard that look very close. And it is indeed ceremonial... duller than a bowling ball.
You are the luckiest man! There is nothing I like more than finding ancient items buried in dirt, sunken in the water, or just left behind on land! I love archaeology... How did I spell that without auto correct?
Great video as always! Being a bottle collector I always have my eyes open for bottle shapes and I'm pretty sure I saw a squat blob top soda bottle at 1:23 on the right side of the screen. I may be wrong but just a heads up in case you go back to that spot. :)
your life seems so interesting! i go hiking alot and the only interesting thing i have ever came across was an old horse carraige from way back in the day and it was buried with moss and vines but in great condition
I often wondered why there's lots of those little clam shells in heaps or close together in some of your videos, now I know why. Great to see these videos, an education too ;-) Have a great 2015 Beau!
I wonder if that whole contraption was some type of steam driven engine or something that was over heating and driven to the river to explode. I think I just wrote an entire movie in my head about that. lol
My great grand mother was type 1 diabetic and passed away after stepping on a pull tab in a river .. im also type 1 times have changed thank god but it’s sickening how many pull tabs lay about.. a damn pull tab lord have mercy god
Another awesome video! Glad to see you uploading more often now! Of course i'm sure it all depends on the finds. A video of modern day trash wouldn't be too amusing. But i wish you the best of luck with the final days of 2014 and much more for 2015! Take care man.
