I couldn’t handle the superiority complex of the message: I’ve replaced by bags with children. And nothing will compare to my motherhood status, so I’m superior now. I hate these women who play that card. I couldn’t have kids sadly so does that mean I have to remain a loser with labels?!

She preaches "you will own nothing and be happy" from a luxurious multi-million dollar home while wearing Cartier jewellery and driving a Tesla.

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who rolled my eyes. She was basically shifting bags from one shelf to the next and I cackled. She will be refilling her closet in 321. Anna Bey's video was equally laughable because she went onto to say she wasn’t getting rid of her luxury closet all while complaining about people getting luxury closets.

As a mother who loves luxury, I felt it was shaming.

My first thoughts were shut up, followed by no one cares, and finished with unsubscribed

A true bag lover does not buy bags to resell them.

She's acting like she sold that stuff and gave the money to orphans.

She is literally jumping from one "herd" to another, branded luxury to quiet luxury, probably releasing her own brand soon😂

My first thought? She is broke!!! Needs the money and this is the best way to end the business! She is selling couple of her shit only. She doesn’t have to show were is her things. Its BS!!!

My only quibble: the lux community is directing too much traffic to that silly video. The "enlightened" folks are...well, not. They discovered thoughts beyond luxury! They discovered pursuits beyond shopping! They READ A BOOK, they discovered actual life content!. Honestly, that's the bottom line with these youtubers, women most of them, I must add. They became adults at 30-35, most of us realized life was way deeper at...15. Sorry for the rant.

I lost a friend and she owned many beautiful bags. She passed down her bags to her close family and they will always have the memories from her. Some are more expensive than others but they hold emotional value ❤

You can tell that narcissist was full of it because she still has all her haul and unboxing vids up. If she really feels that way about luxury stuff she would have taken down all those vids rather than keep them up for monetization lol😂💰

I had no idea who Niki Sky was before the flood of reaction videos from my favorite RU-vidrs. I watched it and read the comments. The most interesting part of the video was her reference to women being in competition. I've never felt competition as a motivation for style or purchases. If she did, it must have been exhausting. I think very extreme life transformations can be dangerous. There has to be a middle ground between consumer gluttony and minimalism. I hope she doesn't regret this purge later.

Recently her best performing video called: “I got rid of everything”- 162K views. It explains everything. 😅 She made money on RU-vid and grew her channel by buying expensive luxury things that she didn't like and just to show off, now she thinks no one is interested in it anymore and she has changed direction. I feel false and impunity, a person does not bear any responsibility for manipulating the audience, and then calls it “growth” and encourages the audience to do the same. It was unpleasant for me to watch her video.

The dramatics of her holding the microphone had already turned me off. I couldn’t finish the video but did not find it genuine. The thumbnail alone screamed “scam.” I wish more people would just look to their own validation rather than think influencers are the end all be all. They need to look within and grow up. Great video Conner. 💕

I think people who have to purge everything material in their life need therapy. Handbags aren’t at the root of their issues.

Totally agree Connor. I wished I hadn’t watched it as I eye rolled all the way through. Even though she said she wasn’t judging others etc it felt judgmental to me. There’s nothing worse when someone makes a change and has seen the light and patronises everyone around them as if they are better somehow. I think it’s the underlying issue that person has that needed addressing. Throwing away all your bags won’t change that. Having said that it made me giggle that she’s happy to sell her bags to her audience who she is telling these bags are evil! I think it’s so extreme to get rid of everything. I understand curbing spending going forward etc but to get rid of everything! 🤔 hope it’s worth the views as she might be regretting it! Also I didn’t understand the issue re logo bags and non logo. She talks of spending and overconsumption but happy to keep non logo bags? So it’s ok to consume as long as nobody knows what it is?!?

I find it bizarre that people are responding this video like she personally attacked them. The woman spoke about her experience and her thoughts and feelings alone and passed no judgement on anyone else.

I haven’t watched Niki’s video but I’m well aware of who she is and the amount of luxury she owned. She would buy bags, ready to wear, shoes and numerous other luxury pieces. I’m sure those that watch can see the magnificent home she lives in. I remember when she was having her home built with all the specifications they wanted. If she’s getting rid of her luxury items because of all the “LIES” is she still going to be living in her mansion? I believe she lives in a very expensive area just outside of Toronto.

I have 140 cans of Diet Coke in my linen cupboard…….just in case they do actually discontinue it.

I think her video is intended for gen z fashion girls & guys who just want to follow trends. Not genuine handbag enthusiasts. I consume loads of youtube fashion content and the stuff she was saying is spat out loads in videos investment, timeless etc so to the audience I think its intended for I think are likely to resonate with her list of ‘lies’. I think people who buy a bag to ‘keep up/ status symbol’ are more likely the people who buy fakes anyway. Less consumerism is never a bad thing, but I just think she’s not aware she’s clearly just following a current trend here herself by doing this kind of luxury purge. Maybe she’s not as awake to influence as she thinks she is.

I learnt of this Niki's existence yesterday, from Amelia Rose. Seems she's taken a big ol' dose of the 'enlightenment bandwagon' Koolaid. For clicks. 😏

Her video screams fake and forced tbh… but then again, most of her videos seem forced and clickbait-y or hopping on trends. I noticed it when she did her Birkin unboxing and she titled it “unboxing the rarest handbag in the world” and it was only a Birkin 35 etoupe lol. That’s actually an easy bag to get. I’ve been offered it a few times simply as a walk-in. Then I watched more of her videos and she just seems to do clickbait and forced videos to get more views. There’s also something condescending about her saying she “woke up” or feels more enlightened by getting rid of the few clothes and handbags she has… when there are world leaders and mothers who have done more in their life than her but they still have a large collection of luxury bags, shoes, clothes, etc. What does she even actually do other than being a momfluencer?

It’s basically just a reset. Watch out for all the future "minimalist hauls”.

I am only 4 minutes in, but LOVE your reaction! THANK YOU! I do not appreciate the preachy lectures from “influencers” like Niki. I DO love the fun atmosphere of smaller channels like yours, Dayle’s, Melinda’s, Amelia’s and others that discuss their love of bags. I remember my fist job working in a coffee shop; several senior citizens were regular customers, and one in particular had some great advice and observations on life. She used to say “There are two things I can’t stand; reformed drinkers and reformed smokers” (because they became holier-than-thou and lectured those who still smoke or drank). And she was so right! We don’t want to hear about your newfound love of abstaining! We want to enjoy our hobby (some may even say a vice, but who cares?!) without condescending lectures! 😊

When I saw the Anna Bey video couple weeks ago where she criticized luxury closets and then declared she’s moving on I thought it was a one off. Now this Niki Sky that I’ve never heard of.

I totally agree with all the points you made. I haven’t watched Niki Sky’s whole video - the clip you showed was enough for me! But I’m heartily sick of these influencers who were prolific over-consumers a week ago, suddenly lecturing about materialism. It won’t surprise me, if in 18 months time, all the stuff they supposedly got rid of starts to re-emerge from storage and they start wearing it all again. Good luck to them all with her epiphanies, but it’s a personal journey, not one they should be preaching to others about.

She’s the kind of privileged person who can buy lots of luxury goods, live in a mansion but tell others that living/buying for status is a bad thing, all while wearing non branded luxury clothes from The Row 😑

I agree with everything you’ve said, especially the part about these videos having the potential to be destructive to other people’s self esteem if you’re impressionable. Super random but her video reminded me of a Family Guy episode where Lois jumps on the minimalism trend, throws everything out and then goes crazy as she’s still unhappy but can’t understand why, despite discarding her home and family. I feel that Niki is just replacing one fad for another and soon she’ll be telling us all about the next awakening she’s having.

Now she wants to be socially accepted because of her anti-logo-ism, again, because she still is insecure. And she never loved those pieces to begin with. She just bought what she thought would make her part of a "club" (that actually doesn't exist in real life, but that's the irony). The fact that she said, don't pass on bags, pass on lovely memories to your kids made me roll my eyes. Why not both if one can? Is it either or? Her video was a facepalm marathon for me. In my opinion, she has problems. And it's not the bags.

I never liked her video because she is one of those influencers saying--certain things are do over-done and you shouldn't wear this or that anymore... That video made me cringe... Have this moment in silence. I don't want to attack her but I can never get through her videos for that reason. She's like Lydia Millen. I enjoyed her videos when I first started to watch--then she turned into this perfect little english countryside girl... Kate Middleton wannabe. Trying way too hard...

What's even stranger is all of her followers, followers of a channel that promotes luxury bags, clothes and jewellery, cheering her on. Isn't luxury what they were there for from the beginning? Thank you, Connor! I couldn’t agree more with you. I don’t subscribe to her channel and I rolled my eyes when I saw it come up in my recommended list. These types of videos from RU-vidrs come off to me as heavy on virtue signaling, and at times, subtly scolding people for not making the same life choices as they are. I think you made a point that her doing this is based on her own insecurity and that’s the position she’s giving this “advice” from. Not everyone who buys luxury is like her or has these hang-ups, and that’s definitely where I’m at!

What a load of drivel!! This in not an airport, she doesn’t need to make announcements. Have you seen the clothes she’s selling? H&M, Zara and Top Shop and some pieces that wouldn’t want anybody to know I owned. If she’s about empowering women, why didn’t she donate to a women’s shelter, breast cancer research. etc? Some pieces are selling for under $10.00 - not much profit there, thinking the tax write off for charitable contribution could be more. Also, why did she need help emptying her clothes closet? Given the quality of many pieces - rolled/folded into three large garden trash bags. Last, but not least, the shoes, e.g., Steve Madden dupes - really now people?

And the only thing I'm left with (besides the quote that I can´t wrap my head around bc neither the sentence construction nor the surposed meaning makes any sence), is that if you've found your truth, how about you just live it? As in silence. As in actions speak louder than words? Why do you need the world to know - unless you´re looking for validation once more. Which shows me that you´re not where you claim to be.

Ha! I love this reaction. I completely agree. My close friends and family think I’m crazy with my handbag obsession, so my purchases are certainly not to impress them. It’s for me!! And yes, I plan to pass all my bags onto my daughter, but she’s 21 and loves bags also and it’s never been a justification for me to buy a bag.

Videos like Niki's, which I'll admit I didn't watch, just tell me that there are a lot of people out there with no defines sense of self or personal style. It sounds like her "awakening", reasoning, and surreptitious finger pointing were all projection. At the end of the day, I think it must be sad to live your life constantly worrying about what others think of you.
