I've never found "If you use presets you will sound the exact same as every other artist!!!" anything but a cope by people who can't hack it as producers. The fact is, the more you learn about sound design, the more you learn that sounds that work are mostly just the same with minor variations. Listen to Headhunterz, he made entire albums off of the same virus + filter saturation and pitch bend lead by just minorly modifying it and layering it differently. And that's really true for all soundscapes, from pop to Hardstyle. There's a few sounds that work and the uniqueness comes from the composition and the way these things are layered. To go from Sound Rush to DBSTF you need only turn a few knobs on your synthesizer and adjust your processing slightly. What people mean when they say "I don't use presets because that violates my principles" is "You should like my music despite it sounding like garbage." No. You first learn how to make good music, then you modify your sounds to taste. You're not going to be a good dadaist painter without first learning classic realism. You simply don't have the judgment to make that call until you learn your craft. It's just cope and laziness. I will die on this hill.
Great video! It's a good to be reminded that if we want to make more music, we need to sometimes close our DAWs and go out and talk to people in real life. Not only do we get to meet other people who love hard dance, but it's still probably the best way to get money-making opportunities. Also thanks for practical advice on how to actually do that! Sometimes I'm clueless lmao
I always use headphones,always have done and its always worked fine for me,but I do agree it will fuck my ears up so I really need to start using studio speakers.

I am about to start a Collab with a friend of ours and I am wondering what your thoughts are on Collabs? Are they good to do? Will collaborating help with motivation and getting tracks done? I hate not getting stuff done and I tend to avoid doing Collabs at the moment but I'm starting to wonder if this might be the way forward for me at the moment?
ive been producing for over 2 years now and have a clear vision as to what i want to create, but im really struggling to get the results i want. i know what sound im going for but it just never works out, and it all seems like its just barely out of touch.
hey i just got a question. im writing a coment to this video because i think theres the highest chance to get an answer :D So my question is: if im creting hardcore kicks and i put on for example a lot of saturation or distortion its gets louder. in order to have a good volume level for my ears should i reduce the volume of the sample or reduce the volume in the midi/audio chanel or should i adjust my headphones output level, in order to continue putting on more distortion and so on. Respect for people who can do both 💯. I'm not going near sound design... I can't even make a decent track using samples and presets 🤣
