"Rotten Tomatoes is useless garbage anyways." *Now they have added a new trick: Rotting Tomatoes are useless **_woke garbage_* (Yeah, spelling intentional)
@@Thor-Orion *Look, people have been accusing Rotting Tomatoes of not adding anything new* They have: they added wokeness to the already bad stuff they are doing.
I'm so disconnected from Hollywood by all the bad films they've made that I no longer consider new releases to be public events, or products in any sense. They're just new things for Critical Drinker to pull apart, and that's my entertainment.
Same. It really illustrates how unessential Hollywood (and really every entertainment business) is. If they can be replaced by a guy talking into a mic with no budget, they literally have no value.
It's bigger than just Hollywoke, all American TV and movies are absolute trash the last 20 years. I got comic book movie fatigue in the '90's when they wouldn't stop with the absolute garbage Batman movies.
@pigpuke 20 years of TV trash? Well I gotta disagree with that. I liked Farscape and Battlestar Galactica and Stargate and The Expanse. How I met your Mother was funny… so was Big Bang theory .
Have you noticed that all this dystopian garbage almost always stems from something that has women in it or women being the prime movers in the decision making. Is it any surprise?
What I have been thinking lately. Everything is fake: news, history, celebrities, politicians, food, consumer products, relationships even the names of celebrities you know. That’s not their real names. Everything is a lie. Yet if you say that the deluded sheep will shout you down. They want to believe the lies.
@@calvinhobbes6118 that's not exactly how the extension works. Not sure about the exact procedure, but it doesn't have access to the real numbers - it extrapolates the dislikes using other means.
Good movies are a bygone era. I dont care what they do with the review sites, because I wont be going to see the vast majority of the garbage being pumped out now.
I have about 1.000 movies lined up - 98% pre-2010 (more or less). Many will disappoint, yet, I'm willing to give them a try - unlike the 'modern' stuff, as they are guaranteed to suck (and I'm not into super-hero nonsense anyway).
The first major change I noticed on RT was when Captain Marvel came out in 2019. It also didn’t help when YT hid the dislikes because of Kathleen Kennedy and Star Wars. We are onto them and they know it, but they’re in too deep to change back.

It started way before then. The online censorship really began when Amazon bought IMBD right around the election of Trump. They promptly deleted the user forums. Their reasoning was it was “too toxic”. Soon other companies quickly followed suit, and removed user review and discussion forums themselves. They also changed their rating formula, and came out with their own special one. Netflix got rid of their rating system and changed to a thumbs up and down. Reddit began banning comments and users. The other Holllywood review sites took note, and copied IMDB. Twitter, RU-vid, and Facebook began censoring soon after. They all colluded to silence Alex Jones, who was the canary in the coal mine. Their reasoning was because he bullied another reporter. This all happened shortly after Trump was elected. The true reason they did all this had nothing to do with bottom lines or any other reason they claimed. It was about protecting and expanding their power. It’s why they strategically eliminated all the most effective, well spoken anti-establishment voices first by applying the new rules (ism’s) to them. They then propped up more extreme voices and painted them as on the side of the anti-establishment, therefore turning off regular people to the movement altogether. Now the same thing the anti-establishment voices were warning about pre 2016 is coming to pass. They have taken out their biggest enemies, and now they are coming for the normals and their own. That’s why so many people are just now waking up. They should have defended Alex Jones when they had the opportunity. First they come for them, and then they come for you. That’s what corruption does. It has no allegiance to any group or anyone but themselves.
What's interesting is, these same people who cry about review bombing use even more sinister methods to try and manipulate the algorithm. There are a lot of creators that have posted analytics that show an increase in subscribers when they haven't put out a recent video. Then when they post a new video, a bunch of those new subscribers suddenly downvote and unsubscribe, which can tank a video on the algorithm. It seems to be targeted at smaller channels that have recently gone viral or grown in popularity. It's pretty wild that they will devote that level of commitment to silence people they find offensive.
I had gotten used to going to RT, but I never ever read the critics reviews, I always went to the audience reviews when they added that feature. That's when they cared about balance. They knew that lot of people didn't trust the "professional reviewers", and for good reason. The "professional" reviews were waaaaaay off. You wondered if they saw the same movie as you did.
Of course, they won't do anything against critics who give high scores for access, a giftbag or fifty bucks. That would harm the industry.

Wokellywood is sinking like the Titanic, slowly but surely. Soon enough, they will close as most of their movies, like the coming D.O.A. Snow White, will be massive financial losses. Good riddance.
USA movie attendance peaked in 1933 and declined to flat line in the 1960's. The most popular hours of TV aired in the 1950', 60's and early 70's. Hollywood will never "recover." No chance. Paramount just shut down their Paramount TV studio operations. There is no "pop culture" in the USA. Broadcast mass media novelties were never "culture" anyways.
This will be a seld inflicted headahot The review also drives engagement and site visit. Now they are just walling it off turning it into propaganda broadcast. Significantly fewer people would go to rotten tomato. Cratering the site
Any RT-rated movie loved by fans & hated by critics was always great. Forbidding the fanbase from criticising proves ALL their films will be garbage now
The correct response is to just not go to that website again. I stopped going there after they edited the Captain Marvel score back in 2019 - once they did that you knew you could no longer trust the scores.
To be fair, some of his movies are okay and others are not very good. Btw I saw him in person last night at a Mike DelGuidice concert. He got him to sing on stage with him because they're friends, so that was cool.
I've used those 'official ratings' to show: If critics rated high = trash; If critics trashed it = worth seeing. Then again, the way 'entertainment' that's been shoved out these past years made me quit going, mostly being worthless and expensive. If I want to see it, I'll wait until it's streaming.
I've hated "critics" ever since those two dullards, Siskel and Ebert in the 80's. Everything they said was good was crap and everything they said was crap was brilliant.
It's like what an UE politician said: "The only problem in democraty is the people who vote, we should decide among us for them". Yeah, consume the product, even if its shit, get excited, gorge yourself with it, and get hyped for the next product.
So in short, completely unreliable. And people will go to imdb etc for reviews and rotten tomatoes will go bankrupt. And then what? The fault of toxic fans? People go to a site like that to view everyday honest reviews (no journalists) They got a good thing going and selfdestruct over politics 🤷♂️
Sigh... I hate getting old... I was youg when RT came up. You know what made RT valuable vs say IMDB? It was honest. THAT was the value proposition. By taking this route, they dig their own grave, because while it can make for a short term profit, it ruins their long term value. And if they don't have value, then the "grease money" stops coming. And then it ends. Talk about shooting your own feet. Anyway, it's not like they can't be replaced, after all their "good model" was an easy model. Put the movie in, let people vote on it. Done. "Curating", aka doctoring, results is the hard part that costs money thus, anyone with a lill spare $$$ to invest can setup up something like they used to be and expedite their demise. You don't need "critics" anyway, they're mostly pandering dim bulbs so who cares...
rotten tomatoes is just rotten now people will ignore their paid reviews I foresee many hollyweird films tanking entirely because of this "oh look, no one who isn't a paid shill is reviewing this, it must be woke trash"
I think the traffic on rotten tomatoes will decrease, but not stop entirely. Oftentimes I look on critics score and if the critics give the movie/series a high score, than I know, that it will be a stinking pile of s*it.
I remember they used to have the “will you see this movie in theatres?” And because Captain Marvel had like 30% yes, they said the movie was being review bombed. Then Rotten Tomatoes just removed the question.
if you only care about the money and not the hand, then, hollywood, you shouldn't care that the hand disappears, right? just find another way to make money. should be simple, no?
That’s insane. A movie review website that doesn’t show you the score and the reviews until everybody has seen the movie and left the review. It means it’s completely worthless now.
Funnily enough, I've NEVER had any respect for or any use for Rotten Tomatoes or referred to its critics' or audiences' scoring of movies or TV series to decide what to watch. :)
Reviewbombing is a non issue. Both sides can do that and both sides do. If one side does tip the scale that much its still a good way to see that there are issues with a product.
Site is irrelevant since authentic reviews are on yt. It's much better to get a review from someone, you know has the same taste. RT, or at least their rating system has been irrelevant for a while already. Nobody cares about this stuff, I wouldn't even know, if YTer's wouldn't make videos about it.
