Charlie's delivery of the lines "Will you come on stage and join me, in this thing called matrimony" is hilarious to me, one of my favourite moments from the show.
The fact that there are actual, real life families that have their origin being someone performing Charlie's proposal song and someone else saying yes, means this is objectively good art.
Lol idk why these say 3w ago for me BUT to answer what I'm assuming is your question. There have been many people who've done Charlie's scene at the end to propose to someone they love. Mostly men but I've seen a video of a woman doing it too. It's on the It's Always Sunny Podcast where they show clips.
The fact that all of you guys were so excited about and invested in the premise of this episode from the start is already a great sign. Classic episode, for sure, and many more to come.
Charlie Day has said in interviews that he based the behavior of the director on real directors he had worked with when he started out in live theater.
The little glimmer of humanity from Frank at the end always gets me a little choked up. Just not the type of thing you would expect from characters like this so it hits a little harder despite the circumstances. I love Frank and Charlie’s friendship. To quote Eric from another show, “Their friendship is my favorite character in the show.”
There's a moment like that coming up between Dennis & Charlie in "The Gang Hits The Road". Rare, heart-warming moments when The Gang are genuinely nice & caring towards each other.
@jackflash8218 and to add onto that, Charlie is pretty much everyone's best friend from the gang. Frank and Mac are the most obvious examples. In the early seasons, Mac and Dennis may have actually been better friends, but as of late, Dennis loses pretty much all respect for him. Dee is also only not exclusively made fun of by Charlie when they're alone at least. Dennis I think likes Charlie BY FAR the most also. Like he hates Mac, he hates Dee, he hates but somewhat respects Frank only in terms of intelligence, Charlie is the only one he seems to seek any kind of approval from, I think it's mostly cuz Charlie is the most secure one besides Frank. Dennis can freely manipulate Dee and Mac. Charlie isn't so ready to lick his boots in approval. Think of the therapy episode when Dennis slaps Charlie so Charlie just decks the shit out of him. I can't imagine ANY other member of the gang doing that to Dennis. It's weird how by doing this string of reasoning, the fact that Charlie consistently is shown to be the only one to revolt against Dennis kind of proves that he's also the only one who's even remotely liked by Dennis
@tananatana4011 Charlie and Dee's chemistry is so underrated imo. I love whenever they're a matchup in an episode. They're so chaotic together but also just go along so well. Like they just mutually agreed to get Cricket addicted to coke in the gang gets whacked episode and came up with plans to gain access to human meat together. It's oddly wholesome to see them genuinely get along well and somehow is mostly void of both the "Dee sucks" and "Charlie is dumb" responses that tend to come when either of them is matched up with someone else.
I love they used a random audience for the play. I always assumed they were just random extras but the fact the they did this play with 0 context is amazing. Also, whats better than screaming "Body bag!" when throwing a punch?!
Fun fact, The actress who played Gladys started acting at the age of 93! She continued until she passed at 102 years old in 2012. She's one of my favorite side characters
Man, I love Gladys! She was so good in this. I consistently quote her delivery of "What..is...happening?" Crazy thing is Mae Laborde who played Gladys begun acting at the age of 93!
Just remember- There does exist- free on RU-vid- the live action full length musical with the full cast of always sunny reprising their rolls- It even has extra songs and scenes :p
This is the first big milestone from the show that I like to see people reacting to, other two are coincidentally just in next two seasons, with the D.E.N.N.I.S. System and Gang Buys a Boat, both PRIMARILY just for Dennis, even though the rest of the episodes are obviously fantastic. I love comedies which can also do very natural development of the characters throughout, and I'm not talking about shows which START as comedies and then develop into more mature shows like BoJack Horseman which is SO ridiculously mature, I actually wouldn't recommend it to everyone because it can really fuck with you on an existential level, but I mean Always Sunny, Peep Show, South Park, shows which are PRIMARILY comedies and that are mostly watched in an episodic manner, but if you pay extra attention and watch it chronologically, the characters develop so naturally and interestingly. Dennis' descent into pure psychopathic villainy is one of my all time favorite running gags I guess you could call it from any show ever, it's so good. Like Dennis currently is a very vein, arrogant, narcissistic scumbag, after a few episodes, he straight up becomes a fucking maniac, like EASILY the most evil character I've ever seen in any sitcom ever, and I'm so excited for it, because of the implication
Not only is this one of the all time best episodes of Sunny, it’s also one of their best podcast episodes, partly because they had Lin Manuel Miranda on gushing about how much of a fan he is of the show.
Back when this episode came out, the following summer they went on tour. I saw them at Tower Theatre in Philly, where they did a live performance of this entire episode, including some bonus songs. They also debuted that next season’s finale episode for us, before the season had even started.
One of their episodes of their Podcasts has Lin-Manuel Miranda specifically to talk about this episode because he is such a big fan. Its amazing seeing him be such a fan of such an absurdly silly thing.
There’s a deleted song from when the cast took the Nightman Cometh on tour (seriously it’s real look it up) called “I’ve got a troll in my hole”, and it’s hilarious!🤣🤣🤣
Charlie: whats on the back there? Dee: its the same song Charlie: And whats on the very very back page? Dee: Nothing Charlie : Aahh then thats what you'll be singing😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂💀
Gladys’s voice is so damn funny. It’s the picture perfect sweet old lady voice. She’s truly a legend starting this late in the game and being someone I’ll never forget
Definitely worth the wait for this one, one of the best episodes of the entire show. Wall-to-wall fantastic jokes, plenty of great comedic moments for the entire cast, and songs that are genuinely really catchy and memorable in addition to being really funny. I wouldn't call it my absolute favourite episode (that's still to come), but it's definitely up there as one of the show's comedic peaks
The roles in the musical directly correlate to Charlie’s childhood, so here’s the roles!! Little Boy = Charlie Kelly Toll Troll = Bonnie Kelly Nightman = Jack ‘Uncle Jack’ Kelly Dayman = Mac McDonald Princess = The Waitress The Uncle Jack lore is super messed up but easily one of the funniest running jokes in a tv show
@@GuyDudeman I disagree. The little boy is Charlie. His mother (the troll) allowed uncle Jack to pay rent (the troll toll) to stay in their house and Charlie as assaulted. He wanted Mac to play the Dayman as he was his only friend when they were children and likely brought him comfort (the opposite of the Nightman)
@@Ivory81 yeah you can disagree all you want, but you're still wrong. The ENTIRE plot from Charlies own mind and words is he is the boy who became the dayman. and if you're gunna say Mac McDonald is dayman at least get his name right - Ronald.
@@GuyDudeman Okay, I believe I’m correct but you’re entitled to your opinion (even if it makes no sense. I called Mac ‘Mac McDonald’ as the reactors haven’t gotten to the school reunion episodes yet and I didn’t want to spoil the joke if they read the comment :)
THE BEST EPISODE!!!! I haven't even got 30s in yet and I'm already so excited! Love you guys and these reactions, thanks for setting up for a great morning!
CONGRATULATIONS. You guys made it to season 5. You will immediately see the difference from past seasons to season 5 and going forward. Youre about to embark on one of the greatest television comedy and overall journey you can imagine. I mean oh man this show just gets better and better and season 5 is the true start. Seasons 1 to 4 were meant to feed you an appetizer and have your mouth watering. Now you can actually begin to feed. Personally to me its the greatest television comedy and to many also i presume. Season 5 and further really begins to show it. ENJOY!! I know you guys are actually further along now in relation to the drops and your actual watchs but just pretend youre reading this at the start of season 5 😂😂😂😂😂😂
The gang actually performed this show out in LA after this episode premiered a few times. When I talk about IASIP to non watchers, this is the episode I direct them to. You guys should checkout the wedding proposal from a man that did the Charlie part to actually propose to his now wife. Pure gold
This was one of my wife's favortie show. I tured to get into it but didnt make it past 2 episodes. We had a my day her day system. Where we alternated who had control over the TV. On your day you could watch whatever you wanted. The other person didnt have to watch but they couldnt have you change it. We took that as a chance to show eachother some of our favotire shows and movies. This was the episode she showed me first to get me into IASIP. This and the hostage episode. I was hooked after and now its one of my favorite shows. To this day this is still my second favorite episode. Even watching it with no context it was still hilarious. My wife explained the waitress and how the play was about his uncle molesting him after which only made it funnier. I havent been ablet to bring myself to watch IASIP after my wife passed. But watching your reaction feels like getting a step closer to actually watching it again. One day, I'll catch up on the new season.
I went to a Halloween party with a couple friends and dressed up as the Nightman. A few hours after arrival I stumbled upon someone who I did not know dressed as Charlie's version of the Dayman. Keep in mind that this was a public party and not something within a close network of people so the odds of that happening were slim.
Eric being so excited for this LEGENDARY episode that he said "F*CK IT!!" and cut the intro short was absolutely adorable. I feel ya, Big Man! Well played! 👍🏼😁👍🏼
My favorite episode! Your reaction was priceless! On another note what is the tablet you guys are taking notes on? I want something similarly I take a lot of handwritten notes at work
I think this is the episode that catapulted the show into mainstream hit and cemented its cult status. I know those are a bit opposing ideas but, it fits for Always Sunny.
