Hi, the rakes looking great! Always worth checking Back to backs of new rolling stock. On tighter curves the HYA boggies will catch on the detail, trim it off solves the issue. 😊 P.s. the new Accurascale 66 will pull that rake 😅

Wow, New Junction, what a honour. Great channel and layout👍👍. Thankyou, ya to be fair that's a good idea. I have x30 Accurascale British Steel PTA wagons and run beautifully, but then again no bottom opening doors. I do have 22 HTA and 18 HHA Bachmann wagons and seem to run fine, but thats probably down to the lack of detail on the bottom. Lol. Thankyou for the tip, I may have to "trim" the wagons back a little but I'm hoping that as and when I come to build my layout to run full length trains that I wouldn't need to with around 5/6 ft radius corner. I bet there wouldn't be much that the Accurascale 66 can't pull, I've got 2 sound ones on order with possibly more depending on livery so getting a little excited. Lol I can always add weight to the Bachmann 66 as it only weighs about 544 grams which is lite these days and I'm not sure if Accurascale will do the colours. I'm hoping that Cavalex to will produce the 56 in Fastline colours(I have BR blue on order).....watch this space... Thankyou again for the tip..I'll get the blade out ready...🤣 👍👍👍.

Hello Mr MartinB Just wondered if you knew of a problem with these Accurascale HYA/IIA and the cutdown version. The problem is the bogie catches on the body as it goes around a curve, the solution is to file or cut off the part on the body where the bogie catches. From memory I think Euvirail points this out in his review of this wagon and in his video actually shows the offending bit. I have a lot of these excellent wagons 8 IIA, 8 HYA and 10 cutdown version, so I know all about filing these down, it takes ages. You will need to file two parts of body next to the two bogies PER wagon, so you have 20 wagons you have 40 bits to remove, joy. This does massively improve derailing problem, mine run beautifully now, but I don't run 20 wagon in a rake, I run only 8 HYA or 10 cutdown. Hope this info helps, Bill.

Thank you so much for the comment and info, ya this helps massively. Just seen the video. Yep that definitely looks like the issue (not that it was catching every time) That is still an impressive amount of wagons that you have. I just want full length UK freight trains and I also have 22 EWS HTA coal hoppers from Bachmann. My trouble is I'm buying stock for a layout I don't have yet. Lol and I'am "hopping" that as and when I do have a large enough layout I wont have to cut anything away, deep breathe, but if I have to "oh well" It is what it is. (bring out the knife) lol. Thanks again for the comment and info.

Hi, great video of some amazing wagons and a cool looking loco, sorry to see you had issues pulling the full rake of wagons, I’m sure the wagon bogies need attention due to the running sweep which restricts its full movement, I understand your view on secondhand locomotives not knowing how they have been treated, I’ve seen secondhand locomotives going for ridiculous prices on DreamBay, some state they’ve never been out of their boxes, I’m sure you can adjust the locomotives motor performance when you fit a decoder, remove the suppressors because they interfere with 5he back EMF, maybe check your locos performance with an amp meter, a new motor might help if you wanted to go down that road, I hope you get all the issues sorted, thanks for sharing.

Thank you. Ya I'm building my collection slowly, nowadays its all crazy money not like 10/ 15 years ago where you could buy a TEA Tank wagon made by Bachmann for £20 and when I buy wagons I do try and buy in bulk. (the more you spend the more you safe) or something or other. Hahahaha "DreamBay" Ya your right, my bro convinced me in getting the loco and it did say that it hadn't been used and it was from someone reputable. I might do another video in the near future on my bros little layout where the curves ain't so tight. I'm guessing that if mileage doesn't get to a loco age will. I'm sure when I come to really use the loco and wagons on a wide open layout I'll properly look into the issues. Thank you for the comment and info. 👍👍

@@mrmartinb1615 To be fair I’ve bought some bargains off eBay over the years, the thing is that when you see something you really want to get the sellers aren’t greedy they are starving hence the ridiculous prices they put on model railway items, you can get seriously ripped off if you’re not careful, Bachmann spares are very good in my opinion, they have very knowledgeable staff, If you need a spare motor for your exclusive class 66 would be a good move, maybe more powerful motor upgrade on standby.

Ahhhhh so the parts don’t only fall off their locos but also their wagons......typical of accurascale

Disappointing. Things you could do 1) Run older Hornby and Lima stock which would suit your track better. For example on my most difficult loop I was running Accurascale MHAs with an Accurascale 66 and finding that the kinematic couplings pull the trucks off the track whereas train works fine with a Hornby 66 or Lima 59s. 2) Rebuild your layout with wider curves and simpler point work. Your room seems to have the space for this although you may need an island for the operator in the middle.

Only issue in running older stock is that some of it looks old and doesn't look too. I was considering to re-bogie my Lima ARC PTA wagons, then I saw how amazing the Accurascale PTA wagons were and thought why not, my ones would never look as incredible as those, and the same goes for the HAA wagons. I do love the Hornby Sea Cow wagons which I have collected a few over the years and I also have the Hornby KFA container wagons. Its a shame about the wagons coming off when your Accurascale 66 pulls them. How many do you have in a train? Regarding the layout I would absolutely love to be in the middle of the layout, have it all the way around me and have one side the fiddle yard and the other side scenic, but fortunately the room is also a spare bedroom and office space as well. That why I'm in the planning stages in building my own layout that cab cater for full length freight trains. 👍👍

@@mrmartinb1615 The Lima PTAs run on bad track and I combined them with a small number of Accurascale PTAs and together they form an 8 wagon train. The MHA train is 12 trucks and that runs on my worst track too but not with the Accurascale 66. Surprisingly Bachmann Peaks are good runners on poor track.

@@alanrobertson9790 it is strange what runs well and what doesn't, sometimes it's surprising. Lol 👍
