The police commissioner is is appointed by city leadership. Baltimore's AG is a Democrat. The issues in Baltimore are not due to racism. The issues are due to culture. WBFF is concentrating on nonviolent crime statistics in gentrified neighborhoods only. Parva LePare was killed (which was a tragic situation), but it was only then that we learned about other victims in traditionally Black neighborhoods. WBFF is only concerned about crime in gentrified areas. I haven't heard anything about Penn-North having gone over a year with no homicides or any other stories about the historic crime downturn across the city as a whole. Baltimore City is getting safer, so they move the goalpost and concentrate on the gentrified areas. This is nothing but thinly disguised race-baiting. People are feeling less safe because WBFF and other media aren't discussing the city's crime statistics and the progress that has been made as a whole. If people only hear negative coverage, then of course they're going to feel less safe.
