Hey, when ripping logs you do Not have to remove bark - first rip gives you the flat edge, flip that all the way over to rip the opposite side, then you have two bark covered sides to do. Your logs are all "branched off" so they would be easy to do this way!
@aboulderlifeoffgrid
@aboulderlifeoffgrid Месяц назад
Taking the bark off helps the blades last longer. Especially since bark can hold onto dirt for a long time, and the bark gets even more dirt in it when we move the logs around. Thanks 🙂

Really interesting, thanks for the video. I guess 800' from googling it. "How deep is the Coconino aquifer in Arizona? At the rim, the depth to groundwater is about 600-700' and this gradually deepens the further north you go. In the City of Flagstaff area, wells in the Coconino Sandstone and groundwater are 1500'-1800' deep" And since I think you are somewhere around the southern side of the aquifer.

@dionh70

My wife estimates 750ft deep on the well. I say at LEAST 25ft deep, so I know I'm correct. We live right next to oilfield property in southern California, and they're out here drilling/re-drilling wells all the time, albeit for a different fluid. One of my neighbors was telling me just the other day how they had a tool break off down the hole around the 7000ft level, and he was tasked with running the drill rig to retrieve it, or else that particular borehole would have to be abandoned and I'm sure everyone can imagine how much it costs to drill down THOUSANDS of feet. That doesn't even consider the permit process involved in getting permission for a new well.

Hi you two, watching from England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 it’s almost feels funny how deep you have to go, (275 ft less than half) the water 💦 companies here never have to go that deep to get good quality water and plenty of it, but there’s no dessert either so swings and roundabouts but I’m going for rain water harvesting at my next house, so I’m not tied to the grid and the costs associated with it but that also means I have to put up with virtually constant rain all year? I’m a patriot so love England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 and the weather that comes with it! Sometimes I wonder why we have water 💦 bills at all, given we’re wet or soaked most of the time! Can’t wait to see how deep you dig down? Best Andy..

First... my estimate... and looking at the guess from other people, I'm a bit low at 585. Next... I was hoping you'd share a sketch or an artist's rendering of what your custom home will look like... approximately. It's just nice to know what you are shooting for... and we know there are always a few changes here and there - but I'd love to get an idea of your vision. Thanks for sharing this journey with us.

Ok, here goes - my guess is 600' - 605'. I lived in the Georgia mountains (yes - the Appalachian ) for about 10 years. The neighbors and I shared a common water system. Water from the bottom wells (2 then a 3rd) was pumped up about half-way up the side of the hill to an enclosed vented tank. From that pump house the water then was pumped up to the top of our neighborhood into another large tank. The water from there was gravity feed to all the association homes. The system was designed to pump water to the top and gravity down. There were three stages: bottom (well pumps), and intermediate stage and the top tank. When the second was not sufficient the third well was added and hydrofracked it as well. This allowed water to our homes without 100% system up time. Great story you and the family are telling. Good luck and health to you guys ...
