the itchiness might be from crawling around in your attic insulation, the fibers are super sharp and will dig into your skin and start itching
@dashcamandy2242
@dashcamandy2242 10 месяцев назад
It really sucks, especially in attics in the summer, but you pretty much have to cover your entire body when working with insulation. Full-wrap safety glasses, gloves, long sleeves, long pants, dust mask. EDIT: And you have to wash the exposed clothing separately to make sure you get any loose fibers off, without "contaminating" the rest of your clothes.
@Tyler_5.4
@Tyler_5.4 10 месяцев назад
Also, when getting fiberglass off your skin, use cold water, and use a washrag and wipe in ONE DIRECTION. If you scrub or itch back and forth, you will just work the fibers farther into your skin

welcome to the life of residential contractors, crawl and dig in fiberglass insulation to your arm pits, all whilst sweating like a glass blower at the glory hole... 🤪🤪 only enhanced by 98F outdoor temps with 70%+ humidity (attics are 130+), I can only imagine some of the other areas with higher temps and high humidity.

Those cleaning foams really are amazing. They loosen the debris from the fins and tubes, and the expansion of the foam carries the debris with the expansion out of the coil to some degree.. i like it.

Making youtube videos has to be financially feasible for a small business. If you need extra time that you can't bill a customer (editing, planning, equipment etc.) you have to offset the cost somehow. Merch is just that. If you are watching on a computer there is an extension called sponsorblock that will skip such interruptions based on community efforts.

I can understand the logic in spending 8k to repair a unit Vs replacing it as I've done the same thing. I've worked for years in a multiple site operation, and we have two types of work orders we can raise. One is a revenue order, and the other a CapEx (Capital Expenditure) order. A revenue order is for repairs and is simple, and only requires one person's approval. A capex order requires two separate quotes be raised, then multiple levels of approval all the way up to director, which can take months. Sometimes, it's quicker and easier to throw money into repairing what you have Vs going through the pain of getting the approval to replace (not to mention being without the equipment all that time).

2:36 "we're gonna attempt to pull this union right here, we'll drain out the water into that pan" more like, we'll unhook that union and take an unscheduled shower and drench and soak the wall, totally missing the pan with most of the water, then spend an hour cleaning up and drying off. at least that's how it always goes for me... 🤣🤣

Chris, the pebbles on the roof are typically referred to as "mineral". It's not sand, but it is often made from limestone which is fairly good at reflecting some of the sunlight, to extend the life of a roof.

Itching skin is often a sign of dehydration. Sometimes I apply a treatment to stop the itching. One I use here in England, Europe is called 'E45 cream' which is a soft white paraffin cream. One trick I use is to apply it to wet skin so that I need a lot less which means it dries very quickly and doesn't leave my skin slippery which is great when working with one's hands. Another skin 'cream' (although it's more like a kind of gel) is called 'Neutrogena' and was developed here in Europe to protect the skin of Norwegian fishermen. Other reasons can be changes in formulation of soaps/shower gels. Similarly, it can be a reaction to clothes washing detergent if you itch with fresh clean clothing on - if this is the case try using less detergent or make sure the machine is rinsing properly. After that, it could be a reaction to a deodorant or body spray. I personally have to be very careful because I am allergic to deodorants and body sprays. If I try to wear one I get a painful reaction very quickly (less than an hour) even with the smallest amount and my skin bubbles up with a red rash that looks a bit like a pizza within a few hours which takes a some care to sort out again. Unfortunately, it's also very easy to come into contact with substances that are harmful. Is it possible you got, for example, some coil cleaning agent on your clothing without realising it which went through to your skin? Refrigerants themselves can be problematic and recovered refrigerant will likely contain some compressor oil which could be carcinogenic or otherwise toxic. I'm just trying to suggest things that may help or maybe overlooked for whatever reason, not 'preach to the choir'. Good health to you, Chris.

That was an awesome little end clip😂. Big picture is doing what the customer wants, truth is it derisks alot of jobs being labor only, especially if you're the one doing the work.
@throttlebottle5906
@throttlebottle5906 10 месяцев назад
the problem when doing labor only? when going to install and finding damaged components/equipment, is having to wait a week or months for "maybe" undamaged to come again or fiddling with warranty repair pay before it's ever been installed. meanwhile you now have labor hours put in and they don't want to pay until the job is done, which cannot be done until undamaged equipment/repairs are done and hopefully you checked the equipment in advance, before tearing out the existing still functional junk.

Hey Chris, in the video you said one of the reasons to replace the equipment is that it uses R22, is there anything wrong with equipment using that refrigerant, last month i got a brand new ac for my room and its a R22 system, thats why im asking
@tschuuuls486
@tschuuuls486 10 месяцев назад
It's very damaging to the ozone layer. Hence why it's phased out for years now. In Europe you can't repair R22 equipment anymore without converting it to other refrigerants (been the case since 2015). In the US it's in limited supply and no longer produced, this raises the prices for new gas, which you would need when replacing a compressor. Now you've got worn out equipment that needs stupidly expensive refrigerant -->really bad business choice.
@MegaDysart
@MegaDysart 10 месяцев назад
What kind of AC unit and where do you live? New units in the US haven't used R22 in a long ass time. Most here come with r600a, r134a, r290, etc. Some even have r410a.

I hope the video is reversed, because a flag is supposed to have the stars on the upper left, not the upper right. You should probably discuss that with your vendor. (The union is always supposed to be to the flag's upper right, the observer's upper left)

Incorrect, check out any US Army uniform for example. It's oriented to initiate a flagpole, reverse on the right sleeve and normal on the left.
