I usually don’t read the comments, so l don’t know if anyone has said this before. As a horse trainer and trimmer that uses hoof knives almost daily and has watched many farriers use them over the many years I have to say your skills with those knives are exceptional!! The precision and efficiency is amazing. Judging from your explanations every time there is some blood I’m assuming that people get upset about it, but without your exceptional ability to cut it would happen far more often! It’s truly a pleasure to watch 😊. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦.

So, what I’m taking away from this post is that he’s making it look easier than it is to use those knives? That’s good to know. I have daydreams of doing this as a hobby/intern/free help after I retire.

He definitely makes this look easy. Those thin thin thin slivers are fascinating; hard to explain but I think you'll get what I mean. I watch ferriers too, nobody moves as surely and quickly, yet carefully as he does. I think very very very early on ppl balked at the blood. But he has consistently explained why it bleeds. From a medical standpoint I'm always relieved to see the blood. No blood=no chance at healing. Blood in a wound is liquid hope that it can and will heal. I also think he says it again and again, which is part of his success, so that if that's the only video you've seen. You aren't left confused or concerned, then he shows how well they're walking and not doing the pain head pull thing. It's obvious he's only helping and healing. Nobody is 100% perfect, but he's 100% passionate about making sure these wonderful creatures are not in pain and he makes that plain to see. I think some of it also comes from pimple popping videos. Some I've noticed black and white the blood making it less obvious because it's not red and our eyes tend to ignore grey. Go away grey is effective until you start to look for it. So possibly he feels the vibe is blood=horrific. But he has made it steadily clear, blood drainage is part relief and part basic anatomy of a wound. Thank you for highlighting this, I wondered if he made it look easy or if the knife was just ridiculously sharp. It's a bit of both, but mostly skill.

@amyrivers4093 Thank you. I hope you were treated well by my brothers and sisters in arms?? I did that job, with honor, for 37 years, in 2 cities. On 1 city, there were 4 active prisons. So there was a lot of gang violence on the streets. I've been shot at, been held at knife point while off duty, been stepped on, thrown off, kicked, kicked between my eyes by a newborn foal. But my greatest joy was helping people at their darkest time. Which I would do again in a heartbeat if my back allowed me to. Stay well, and a Belated Happy New Year to you!! Jenn 💖 🇨🇦

@@jenniferlehman326 wow you have been through a lot, it must of been scary at times especially when dealing with gangs. You literally put your life on the line and I don't think a lot of people realise just how dangerous it can be for paramedics. In my country ambulances are not funded which is unusual as hospital care is free here. I still have private insurance which covers chiropractor, gp visits, prescription costs etc. In my city we have the St John's Ambulance, and they offered a membership that covered any ambulance costs for anyone living in the household. I had moved back in with my parents when it became medically dangerous for me to live alone so we split the membership cost. Now that my health condition is worse in some ways and better in others I haven't had to go to hospital by ambulance but I still pay for the yearly membership as a way of giving them a donation. Before I was too sick I was a teacher in a rough area and a foster Mum. I had to be realistic about my abilities and resign from the two things I thought were my life's purpose. So I can understand you when you say you would still be a paramedic if your back allowed it. I think you were an excellent paramedic and did it because you have a big heart and really care about helping people when they need you most. It takes a very special person to do that and it was obviously your calling. I have a lot of respect for the medical profession in general. About ten years ago I went to England to see my sister and her family. I also went to San Francisco, France Italy etc and stayed in Vancouver for a week on the way home to New Zealand. I had already heard good things about Canadians and in many ways my country is very similar. Every single person was so kind, helpful and went out of their way to help me. I wish you all the best for 2024. Xx

By being "intentional" in everything I do, my goal is to be present whatever is going on. At home, I want to be present with my family and focus on our needs and well-being.

Thank you :) Great video and lovely new crush! My New Year's resolution is to take care of myself. I've been my Mom's caregiver for 12 yrs and she recently passed away. And before that, doing much caring for others too. I slacked off caring for me! So, now I am taking the time and treating myself as good as I treated Mom. I got some health screenings, got 6 wks of physical training for my shoulder and now I'm starting with a personal trainer and setting some goals. And I'm getting a root canal (fun stuff). Also, I'm taking time to do some experimenting in the kitchen. Right now I'm seeing how many different things I can make with lentils!! :D and it is fun, tasty, and nutritious! I'm reading books while on the treadmill and the exercise bike. etc. etc. Hopefully, I will be in better shape and spirits because of these things. I chose to have a personal trainer (much cheaper than I thought!) so that I can get guidance and feedback and it forces me to get out of the house and follow a structured plan. :) And I'm listening to my favorite singer, Dimash Qudaibergen, everyday. These things are also a big help with the sadness of loosing my wonderful Mom .

I haven't been to a hair stylist since I turned 21 I'm now 42. My second resolution is to become my independent, last year my 12 year relationship broke down and ended I also found out my ex cheated on me. He was my full time carer as I'm in end stage kidney failure and on dialysis multiple times a day, I also have chronic fatigue syndrome too. I'm moving into my own place by the end of this month fingers crossed and I've never lived on my own. So I have to learn to rely on only me and I'm terrified I'm going to fail.

You'll do it! You've got people who believe in you, right here! And you know what? If you don't hit all your goals this year, it's no big deal. You'll just have a goal for the next one. If this helps any, I'm currently sat on an Airbnb bed 300 miles across the country. Hubby was supposed to come because it was for our elder daughter's (second - for both! They've got it right this time) wedding - this time to a guy I'd be proud of to have as my own son, and I am already blessed with two of them. Unfortunately, both hubby (and myself) are physically disabled, but he also has stomach problems which when they flare up, cripple him more than his back does. My 89 year-old mother-in-law seems to have been talked out of coming with us (I came down with our 2nd son who lives with us) even though we were driving past her place! I think I know who did it and I'm going to kill him! She's very upset about missing it. Still, we gritted our teeth, I drove on, my son got to drive on a motorway for the first time (there aren't any near us, we only had about 80 miles of motorway the whole trip), and considering he's on the Asperger's spectrum and likes what he knows, he did well. I only yelled once! 😂 After a bit of a trek to the wedding, and again to the reception hall, I was only capable of staying at the reception for a couple of hours before the pain was exhausting me, so I left (sadly - but _after_ the photos, which I *_utterly detest_* having done, but I did it for my daughter - it's a real phobia, so I understand you) and waited for my eldest with his wife & baby, or my youngest with her partner (who's from my country and I love him to bits lol), who are also staying here, to bring my other son home. As you can see, just this weekend has been complicated and difficult, and physically and emotionally painful and draining, but we have reached the side of the wedding that's necessary lol (the wedding went well and the reception was fun. They had a whale of a time 😅❤). And that's how you deal with things that throw obstacles in your way. One at a time, bit by bit. Don't rush it, don't panic if time seems to be rushing past you (we were supposed to have left home in our camper van on Thursday so we could take it easy! But we made it in the car in time). No one else's goals will be affected by yours, so you don't need to get upset with yourself if you need to take a different path. You can do this! I genuinely believe in you, you _can_ do this because you don't have to push yourself too hard to do it. Break your goals up into small, manageable pieces. Celebrate every little milestone you achieve. Doesn't matter how small, it's something you didn't do before so it's something to be celebrated. Believe in yourself! And the best of luck, with every success not just for this year but the rest of your life. With love to you from 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

My life has absolutely nothing to do with anything farm animal related, but I found you on Facebook a year ago, and it was your genuine personality, and care of helping these cows that drew me into watching. And, quite frankly, I found the whole process incredibly interesting and educational. I feel you never stop learning . But truly, you're blessed with such a kind, caring, humorous personality that draws a person in. God continues to bless you. Congratulations on your new equipment and vehicle. You have earned it and deserve it. May you and yours have a Healthy happy prosperous New Year. With love from Pennsylvania. USA 🇺🇸

So proud of your glue! And those minor differences on the new crush will make a world of difference I'm sure. So happy for you. As for new year's resolutions... my new year resolution is to truly respect my mind/body/spirit and deconstruct the habits I have developed where I prioritize other people's feelings or opinions over my own.

No need to apologize for being excited for something you help create when it works so well. I just started watching your videos last year and fell in love with them. Hope 2024 goes well for the HGP crew/family and can’t wait for your new videos!

My resolution is to do my best with my last two years of teaching by fighting against the changes to stay creative and allow my children to create, then focus more on my animal rescues, maybe even moving out of the city to create a sanctuary for animals and finally writing my children's books! More of a three year resolution....love your channel. Thanks to you all. Congratulations on all your slick new equipment! Awesome! Makes the job so much more fun when you have the right tools...

Happy New Year! 🎉 so I don’t normally have New Year’s resolutions as I don’t really stick to them, yes I know that sounds bad … however this year mine is to be the best version of myself and healthier, so giving up vaping myself my husband both doing it together and have done a week so far and determined to keep going, 💪

I always say I’m not going to make a New Year’s resolution but the more I think about it the more I realize it’s time to listen to my body. And I’ve not been so nice to my body. So this year, I’m gonna make all those drs appointments I’ve been dreading and putting off so I can feel better enough to get myself back into my fitness journey. Also, I want to get into a more routined lifestyle, be more disciplined with myself and get out of working retail. Lol. Happy new year you guys! 💚

Now with cold wintry weather coming on I’m reminded of your comments about the loneliness endured by some people in the more rural areas of the country. I’m retired with time on my hands. Is there any organization around that can offer ’pen pals’ via email to those feeling loneliness and isolation during times like this? I’d be interested in helping, as I believe others of your audience would also.

I don't do new years resolutions, but I do Jon Gordon's "One Word", where you pick a word to represent something you want to work on during the year. I write it on an index card and keep it by my desk so that I can look at it everyday and have that reminder. It's funny, because sometimes the word takes on a whole new different meaning by the end of the year. My word this year for me is "stable". Whether that's my equine art or stability in my life, i'm not sure yet. I love your note and mantra!

I never knew a cow's hoof could get a blister; that looked fiddly. I'm glad to see her made comfortable. New Year resolutions? No. Why not just set your goals and get started when you see the need to, rather than wait for an arbitrary date?

I just want to echo what others are saying in that I always enjoy when a new video goes up, but especially the longer form ones. I can only imagine all the work that goes into editing and recording all these videos, but we don't watch just for the cow trimming. We watch 'cause of the banter, the family like bond between all of you, even craigy-boy, that we get to see. Here's to a new year, and hopefully many more videos in the future. Stay blessed. P.S. Just joking Craig. We love ya here just as much as the rest of the family.

Enjoying you figured-out upgrades to your previous crush. Very nice. Also pleased your glue product has been holding up well in use. Looks like you settled on mesh face shields. Is the weight of a cow actually divided by quarters/legs? The udder weighs a lot but the front would also have the neck and head. 18:36, as you worked on the heavily infected claw, I thought of, "It takes as long as it takes." You did find the rest of the condition and with (Repiderma), must of also had something like Hairy Wart involved. Thank you to all.

My NYR is toast around myself with positive, uplifting people you share my values on that note to remove those that do not. We allow people to be in our lives on your regular basis that seemed to only want to bring us down. I’m taking my own power back, and putting it back in God‘s hands where it belongs. Oh, and be kind. Show kindness, that my words, indeed, be filled with kindness. Kindness is the Saving grace of the world. It’s hard to be angry. When you are being kind, it’s hard for people to be angry when you show them kindness. Little bit of kindness goes a long, long way.

My NYR is to loose weight and get healthier habits. I have lost 60 lbs and have been able to stop 2 blood pressure meds as a result. I feel for the cattle with feet issues as my diabetic neuropathy in my feet tend to be screaming in pain. Life is too short not to do what you love. So here is getting to be healthier. Love watching your videos.
