I don't think you sounded harsh, abrupt, rude, or anything like that. You were teaching. You were thorough. You praised the things Kilian did well, and corrected the things he didnt - all on a living, feeling creature. You are an amazing teacher, Graeme.

My husband does emergency vehicle lettering, originally hand painted but now mostly reflective vinyl or gold leaf on vinyl. He had an opportunity like this one that you had when 3M was developing new application tapes. Understand we have a one man shop in our basement and his “office” is upstairs next to the laundry room. But the head of the 3M office in the Midwest came several times and spent all day talking to Mike and watching and helping him work to find out what he needed as a customer who used the product. Then for over a year they sent different versions of the product for him to use and would come back to discuss it. Mike was amazed cause he doesn’t think anyone notices his work but he’s been a loyal customer for over 40 years and that counts for something. Killian learning from you helps him do more product development and a more effective job selling to other customers. You help each other. And like my husband you’re a good teacher.

I think Killian thought the hooves were more like a horse hoof, hard. His first motions were to use pressure to level out a hard surface only to find it was a lot softer than he thought. He certainly picked it up quick and gave great information that his firm wants to do. I hope to see him back again some time. 👍😊

It is so hard to learn to teach someone something after you have done it for so long, and it has become automatic. You don't think about what you are doing, you just do it. For me, it makes what Graeme has done with this channel and all his other ventures so amazing.
@smol-one
@smol-one Год назад
@@ashrowan2143Hmm. Honestly, being able to teach anything competently is a different skill set to being able to do that thing. Don't get me wrong, Graeme is clearly excellent at both. But teaching requires a level of patience and understanding that a lot of people just don't have. And I actually think the better you are, the less likely you are to possess that level of patience and understanding. Teaching is more a sign of maturity, I think. Particularly, if your student is nervous or skittish. There's a certain amount of emotional regulation that's pretty much mandatory for the teacher, but it might also be necessary for the teacher to help the student regulate their own emotions. You also need to feel out when to step in and when to let them work and when to encourage. There's a lot of peopley knowledge you need to be an actually good teacher.

My family is planning to buy a small farm, and my dad said recently that he wants to try raising beef cattle alongside the meat goats I want to raise. I've been a long time viewer of the channel and just kinda sighed to myself and went "Well, didn't expect to potentially put all this watching how to trim hooves to use." Probably will sign up for a course on how to do it just to make sure I know what the heck I'm doing, but at least I'll know what a white line defect looks like! Now to go back to convincing my dad to go with minis instead of full sized (easier to handle and easier to stock more on smaller acreage).

As an Australian, it's kind of funny seeing you use subtitles when Kilian was talking because I can understand everything he's saying very clearly. Scottish, English, Irish; it's all the same to us down here really. Although, perhaps people in other parts of the world aren't quite so familiar with accent differences. Not complaining at all, just noticing something I found interesting in that you needed to add the subtitles as I'd not have even thought to do so.

Graeme, you are a pro teacher! Your instructions will serve Killian well and he will go on to help many cows safely do better, as you are doing. Thanx for another awesome video! ❤👍
