The italian dub gives me chills every time holy shit, the va is just incredible. I adore how they translated angel's dust hatred towards everything into hatred towards himself in this scene, it has so much more impact and it reflects his character a lot more. Amazing job they did there
Wanna know the best thing? He started voice acting when he was 5, the voice that he trained for years shows his passion and talent in really feeling the character and incredible empathy. I would not expect anything less from THE Italian voice actor of Steven Universe himself.
@@Lilnaomi3 Not exactly...I mean, technically yes,but it's more easy to read it as in him blaming everything and everyone _else_ for how miserable he is...by saying he hates *_himself_* he implies if his life is miserable it's his own fault,so it's not much _his life_ to be wrong,it's *_him as a person!_* That's what makes it more sad.💔
Italian and Japanese really sound like he's having a mental breakdown. Spanish (Latin America/Spain) sound really desperate and slightly aggressive, like he's absolutely done with everything.
Italian here, i find it very intresting how in the Italian DUB they changed it from Angel saying that he hates everything to how much he hates himself, it's very fitting and as usual Riccardo did a spectacular job.
Fun fact: if i remember correctly the voice actor of angel in Brazil dub him in a fandub of the pilot all the fandom said that they wanted him as his official voice actor but he didn't think it would be possible because he as not a real vc that time, well he as wrong 😅
I think my top 3 are 1. Italian 2. Brazilian Portuguese 3. Japanese All of them of the VAs did try to make sound sad and remorseful but those three really still out to me the most.
German Angel Dust is amazing in this role. I knew him from many kids shows that use him for his boyish voice, but this one really brought out his emotional range.
Both Spanish and LA Spanish VAs killed it here. As a Spanish speaker I genuinely cant decide Edit: WOW. The French one was good, very good, and as always the Italian is amazing
Out of all the versions, the Japanese version is the one to make me tear up the most. The constant gasps of air between the breaking voice is just…painful. It sounds like he yells out and is actually saying words while trying to hold back tears at the same time. The others did amazing too, don’t get me wrong. I just prefer the Japanese version. :,)
German: Oh, now you're acting like I'm _not_ completely worth shit to you? Do you seriously think I would open my heart to you, after you treated me like that? Oh, please. Maybe I would treat you better if you were real, and not such a shitty version of yourself that gets me seeing red. (lit. "makes me white-hot") I'll tell you somethin': no one at that hotel's interested in who you are! How famous or how hot. So you can just cut out this act! It's not an act! [But] rather who I have to be. And this helps me to run away from it. Here I can forget everything of that, everything that I-I hate so much! ...Just everything. A place where I can get high without thinking about how much it hurts. And maybe if I manage, with all that stuff, to someday make myself broken enough- when I'm totally at my end- then he will search for a new favorite plaything. And maybe he'll finally let me go.
Question: I'm American but from German immigrant grandparents. I've learned some of the language but am not fully fluent. At 2:19 am I hearing correctly that Angel says "Das ist keine Nummer!"? ("It's not a number!") Is "number" a colloquialism meaning "an act", or am I mis-hearing what is being said? 🤔
@@Rheinhard Yeah, I had to look it up too because I'm not a native speaker either- it's something like "performance", sort of like how "musical number" is used in English
in Thai translation to English is Angel: OH, and now you are going to care about me? Do you think what you are doing for me is gonna make me want to open my heart? Oh, please... Husk: I may be good to you. if you just don't act like this, keep your distance from me. I will tell you. At the hotel, everyone does not care who you are! how famous, how spicy you are (Zaab (แซ่บ) is for food. means spicy but delicious. but in other meanings, We use it for someone who is sexy by wearing clothes, his/her body, or very good about sex. This word has been used for many meanings.) So... All you have to do is stop acting. Angel: I am not acting!!. This is who I have to be... And THIS! This is the way, the place for me to escape. This is the place to make me forget how I hate everything! ... So much... This is where I can do drugs and stop thinking about how hurt I am... And maybe!... when I can hurt myself enough until broken down. I will not be his toy forever. And he might let me free... PS* Sorry for my English

The canadian french version of angel is underrated there's a lil anger in the voice which adds to the vulnerability and french french husker has the most emotional depth. The japanese and italian voices of angel are my favourite in how they deliver the lines. My overall favourite is the Italian one
4:44 Canadian French Translations Husk: […] You would need a barman to talk to. Angel : (Laughs) Ok! Now you wanna make me believe that you’re worried about me? You think that I forgot how you treat me and that I will open myself to you? No thank you! Husk: Maybe I would treat you better if you were real, instead of your shitty version that you’re so proud of always testing my limits! Let me tell you, nobody at the hotel is interested in your story, your fame, your look! So you should stop pretending. Angel: But I’m not pretending! That’s what I have to be! And this, is my escape path! That’s how I can forget everything, forget that I hate,…all my life. A place where I get myself fucked up, and forget of much I’m hurt. And maybe that, if I manage to destroy myself enough, if I get in pieces, I’ll eventually won’t be his favorite toy anymore. He’ll maybe let me go away.
Maybe I'm partial, but I prefer Italian over English, not only because I like Angel's more feminine voice and I think he generally conveys more emotions, but also because in this specific scene he says he hates _himself_ instead of _everything_ and that's much more heartbreaking.💔
If you are gonna upload the subtitles, here is LA spanish (not perfect but i tried x'd) Yeah, sure, now you are gonna make up some bullshit to pretend that you actually give a shit about me? You think after how you treated me I'm gonna open up to you? Please... Maybe I'd treat you better if you were honest That fake version of yourself that you show all the time annoys the fuck out of me. Listen, nobody in that hotel cares about who you are Even if you are famous or sexy So I recommend you to stop acting It's not an act!! It's what I need to be And this, this is my escape Where I can forget about everything of how much I hate My poor life... A place where I can get high and avoid thinking of how much it hurts And maybe, If I can ruin myself enough in the process If I end up broken then maybe I won't be his favourite toy anymore So that way he would set me free...
Hindi translation, so people can know how good the dialogues are - Angel - So are you going act like you care about my pain , The way presented yourself you think I'm gonna tell you things from my heart . Go away man . Husk - If you spoke the truth, I would've presented myself well . I don't like pampering liars . every time your running here and there . Listen here , No matter how famous you are , how sexy you are . Nobody cares about that at the hotel . So stop doing this nonsense. Angel - IT'S NOT NONSENSE, I HAVE TO BE LIKE THIS and This , This is my help , to help me to forget about that truth about me that I AM ANNOYED WITH . I hate it that truth and the reason I became an alcoholic is so that the pain inside doesn't leave me empty inside and I know that these habits will eventually leave me of no use and when that happens maybe he won't see me as his toy and he'll let free...
As a german who watched the german version of hazbin hotel and mlp, angel dust and spikes german version sound the exact same, because the german version of the both use the same voice actor.
*Angel:* NO ES UNA ACTUACIÓN!....
I'm italian and i dont know where to watch hazbin hotel bc i cant find episodes on yt except for the first 2 and i dont have amazon prime 😭 anyone know where i can watch it in italian dub??
I think that in thai dub the voice lines and tone doesn't match how Angel is expressing himself when he should be lacking air or speaking with heavy breaths in between the VA sounds like is yelling
After seeing the true translation in Italian and I know Hindi....it's clear no country can ever say the same thing what was in English...but it's nice to see some effort
Well...personally I prefer Angel saying he hates himself instead of"everything"...it's much more heartbreaking.💔Sometimes changing the original lines means to improve them(I have a couple of other examples in mind that include play on words).
Japanese version (I'm not fluent so don't expect perfection lol) A: I see, so you're going to pretend to care about me now? After making an idiot out of me, do you think I'll just open up to you? Don't make me laugh. H: I could deal with you if you were real, but you need to face your problems as you are, not with a blanket of lies! The guys at the hotel don't care who you are! You may be famous and sexy, but none of that matters. As long as you're acting, it won't-- A: I'm not acting! I'm protecting myself! When I do, I forget about how much pain I'm in! I hate it, I just hate everything... So when I pretend to love, I can live life and not have to think about the pain. And someday, before I know it, I'll make such a mess of myself that I'm completely broken beyond repair, and when that happens, I won't be that man's favourite toy anymore... Maybe then, I'll be free, don't you think?

Thanks for the translation. I wonder why the term "boundaries" wasn't adapted here. Like, it's supposed to tie back to Charlie's lesson plan. So what was the term in Spanish then?
@@Decembirth For boundaries? I guess "límites" or "fronteras" (though that second one is more geographical). "Siempre estás sobrepasando mis límites" might be a more faithful line.
@@Decembirth The "tocar los huevos" (to touch/grab/squeeze one's nuts) is the idiom to express the comcept of "pushing one's boundaries". They both used idioms for translating that sentence instead of translating literally
