I like this restoration in particular. Many restoration projects on RU-vid actually rebuild a device to a point where even the original manufacturer would not recognize it anymore. Your restoration does not hide the age or aging of the instrument and keeps much of the old character, patina and style. It is a beautiful piece of work. And very well recorded as well.
I was surprised by that hearty laugh when your sting broke. Such a pleasant and warm laugh too. Great job on a difficult restoration! You seem to be able to do all sorts of wood based renewal. Marriage proposal still stands! 🥰
Wasn't sure if it could be fixed. Should've known as talented as you are you can fix anything and make it beautiful again! I chuckled when I heard you laugh over breaking the string. You definitely turned this into a gorgeous instrument again! Stunning job! 😊❤ Congratulations on your next summer marriage 😊
That was really interesting, nice job! I always like the way you put your videos together, with just enough explanation and good camera work, editing, etc.; it makes for a pleasant viewing experience. Also, nice cat.
Thank you for bringing back to life this instrument. Even though some comments said it was originally a cheap instrument coming from a family with many children we also got a lot of joy and fun from the less expensive things. I am sure that if that mandolin could talk it would tell of many hours of fun and laughter and maybe even a love aria or two. Thanks for sharing this with us.
The feeling at the end that every Mandolin player along with every 12-String guitar player goes through trying to tune pairs of strings, stretching them, breaking them them, restringing... OH the joy!
It is fair to point out that this instrument is not a "mandolin", but a "French flat mandola with 4 double strings". Having said that, the recovery of the instrument is truly satisfactory, the effort is commendable and the result is more than evident. The final appearance and finish remain rather rough but, I repeat, for an instrument destined for landfill, the result is excellent.
A música agradece.
I think this is the First time I've seen You Work on something this Delicate Before. You have a Nice Touch. Beautiful Work. The Insertion of Tom sitting there Motionless and You saying; "Not a Photo" was Hilarious! It was so Random!
Fair dues ! I didn't think that you'd manage to save that mandolin? I thought it was far to gone to save any of it ! But you managed to save it after all? Well done, bravo, nice work ? And thanks for showing us the process!.
Parabéns por mais um impressionante trabalho de recuperação quase impossível; ao abrir o vídeo pensei que o instrumento estivesse totalmente deteriorado. Você não é entidade divina, mas fez mais um milagre. Obrigado pelo compartilhamento.
I really enjoyed your very skilled and NOT over-restoration, and the end product is beautiful. I know nothing about mandolins, but yours only appears to have seven strings - unless my very old eyes deceive me. Maybe you didn't have another replacement after breaking one.
Oh I was upset when the string broke I was expecting at tune from it Maybe get Nickolas Cage to come and give us a serenade or two A great video btw 👍👍
Hey RM Final outcome is awesome, loved hearing your big laugh. Perhaps one of your musical guests could give it a try...also a tour of your shop; unless I missed it, I have not seen your RU-vid award up on the wall. Hope you have an awesome week. Take care of Yourself 😊
@@Restomaniac @Restomaniac Thank you my Friend. I am willing to bet a lot of us 'Restomaniacs' would enjoy seeing your shop, some of the projects you restored and how you are using them.
@@Restomaniac I always find it really difficult to get a balance. Something can have zero economic worth, but have sentimental value for a person. But sometimes the cost of repair is just so huge, I have to tell people it’s probably not worth it. But always their choice.
A lot of those old mandolins didn't use steel strings. The top wasn't really braced for it. I wouldn't leave it under tension when I stored it and maybe look for some gut or plastic strings. For whatever it is worth to you I did enjoy your video.
