It's a pleasure to watch someone doing this sort of work in a hands on basic way. This type of furniture was made in a crude and simple way for a purpose. There was no place for fancy twirls carvings and mouldings. They needed functional furniture. Resoration therefore doesn't warrant or need anything more complex or perfect and smooth as the piece when it was made. Its a real pleasure to see these simple farm house furniture pieces respected for what they are and gently restored . Furniture and life doesn't need micrometer perfection and a false glossy finish.
What I like about this is now you didn't go overboard trying to glam it up. It's a little, utilitarian cabinet that would be used just about anywhere in the house. It's attractive, sturdy and ready to serve for many more years. Love it. Also love your beautiful tuxedo cat.
I’ve always loved those type of small cabinets. I think you did a fine job on it. So happy to see you kept the same character n charm of her yet repaired the places that needed to be done. Now this sweet piece can go on living for another 70ty years or more. ♥️😊👍
I’m amazed at how beautiful a piece is after you give it the love and tender it deserves. I truly enjoy watching you restore a piece from the “road kill” to fabulous lucky piece of furniture and the lucky person who talks you into selling it to them. 4:26
Love the integrity of the restoration here! I wonder what this little cabinet might have been used for? Jug and basin? There is no rail for a towel. Bedside table? For a chamber pot? Whatever its past use, it's a charming piece of furniture. Well done 👏
A happy ending and a handy little piece. I;m completely onboard with retaining the homely patina but it would have been more unified if you'd distressed the top.
Very nice restoration! It looks like depression era furniture when you couldn’t afford to buy so you had to make do with what skills you had and with whatever materials you could reuse.
That would make a nice record stand! 😂Thom is such a good cat. My girl would have gotten right in that glue, immediately jumped behind into the wood shavings, and through the trash can-resulting in a $600 trip to the vet!✌️😂♥️
Very good video. I really appreciated your conservative approach to finishing, and how you used common sense to return the piece to functionality. Now it has even more character.
I have seen most of your restorations and have subscribed and always given likes. If this was the first video of yours I saw, I would not subscribe. It doesn't do justice to your talent. Yes I know you said old to old but this still looks like something I might have done as my first woodshop project in high school or should have been left in a dumpster. I will still watch your channel as I know you have a lot of talent and appreciate your skills.
Embellece y proteje. ❤
