Heavens but Ben was unbelievable. His voice & presence have stood the test of time. He is still a great performer with wonderful stage presence & charisma - 23 years after his sad passing. There are very few musicians that are held in such high esteem, long after they are gone, like Ben Orr.
Benjamin was always so incredible live, and he could sound almost exactly like the studio recordings! He was also more engaged with the audience and really connected with them while Ric would either just stand there like a statue or wander aimlessly around the stage (when he wasn't singing lead). Ben was the true rock star!!!
Yes I like Ben for his musical talent. Although what interest much more than that -- is the kind of man he was. Much more than his musical capabilities that he has an abundance of.
Ben had style. He looked the part of the 80's. He knew how to pose for pictures. He wore the garb. Sometimes his posture reminded me of David Bowie. I think he was 'in character' so to speak. The others were not that at all. Nonetheless, the first album I bought "CANDEO", it was Ben's songs I loved and it never changed. Sure Rick wrote them but Benjamin was the star to me. He had the Presence on stage. The group was a great group and I enjoy watching them all as a group.
Holy shit! 😦. This is my favorite song 🎵 from the "Heartbeat City" album 💿 and I have never watched a live version of the same 😦. It was just amazing 😱: the atmosphere, people acreaming at the beginning, Benjamin singing 🎵 🎤. God! 😱 I love his voice in this song 😄 ❤️, it's so fucking powerful ✊, it really makes you feel the intensity of the song 🎵, the rest of the members are really good musicians 😊 🎵 👌. After "Dangerous Type" from the Candy-O album 💿, "It's Not The Night" it's my second favorite song 🎵 from The Cars 😊 👌.
I would have to disagree Rick was the original lead vocalist Ben asked Rick if he could sing also. Rick gave him permission. But when cars formed in 1976 it was only Rick Benjamin orzechowski did not start singing til 78 DRIVE , just what I needed stay the night and others too like LETS GO HE WAS A GREAT SINGER AND BASS PLAYER TO BAD THAT PACREATIC CANCER GOT HIM
personally i like the first two albums the best but this song really rocks. Ben can really belt it out in his high register and Ric takes the lower part, which is sort of opposite of how they usually split vocal parts. 80s pop with a hard rock edge, i'm lovin' it.
Sad, because the end of the band and the passing of Benjamin were already too sad, but I prefer to stay in the parallel reality World in which they are alive.
Thanks a lot! That just twisted my heart in nostalgy! I was in Russia, and I had just a tape with this album. I had no idea, that Benjamin Orr was so beautiful..but I was totally crazy about this song! I still love it. Great 80s,the best time for music! When music was beautiful, and performers looked and acted like artists, when they sounded and looked great, and were not afraid of having beautiful voices, hair and costumes.

Ahhh poetic musical genius worldwide sensation brilliant man way ahead of his life on planet earth. Ur legacy will live on forever til the cows come home
Saw them in ‘79, never heard of this song before now. Wow, it’s totally different & more of a heavy rocker, too bad the sounds production isn’t top notch…
@@RosaC9999 Ahem Paul McCartney, the original Hot Bassist, and a ground-breaking one as well(I always feel like Paperback Writer and Rain are two good "intros to Macca's stunning bass playing"). That said I'm an old time Duranie so well versed in John Taylor and obviously a Benjamin Orr fan as well. We're just lucky, such hot talented bassists out there for us to appreciate. LOL
