Crazy how during that stretch when the clippers went 26-5 in December and January I really believed they had a very legit shot of coming out of the west. Now their championship window is forsure closed and they will be lucky to make it out of the 1st round for the rest of Kawhi and Harden’s tenure.
as a clippers fan all i wanted was a chip for pg, russ and harden. Its really sad kwahi had to get hurt again, you could tell he wasnt himself against dallas. I just wanted another clean run after that bubble choke.
As a clippers fan, looking how everyone judges the clippers for not achieving much, what really is the difference if we lost him or not. Atleast now we're getting more of those dirty work guys. Players who want to do what stars dont. The little things. I'm liking this new look to be honest. Was tired of seeing what we been seeing the past 4 years. We may not achieve much but it's not like we have anyway
Considering the hole the Clippers are in I really do not see the point of letting PG go, why resign Kawhi if you are gonna let PG go. I think it was better to overpay and hope for a miracle compared to whatever direction this is. They don't have any of their picks and were very good when healthy. There is no way Nic Batum and DJJ fill the hole left by PG.
Amen! PG is one of the most overrated stars in the league. When Kawhi doesn't play, he doesn't show up. When the lights are bright, he doesn't show up. Signing him to 4 years would have been a huge mistake. I've been calling for PG to be traded since 2020. The front office should have traded him when he had more time left on his contract. But not signing him to 4 years is the next best decision.
@@pfpchad2747Blame Kawhi for that. He wanted PG on the team and wouldn't sign with the Clippers unless they traded for him. He knew/knows who PG was/is. I don't think they would've made that trade if he had not suggested it.
Facts. Clippers have trade assets. PG13 is replaceable with someone like Derozen, lavine, or brandon ingram. Clippers have trade assets like norman powell, PJ tucker, & terrance mann.
Max Christie? He re-signed with the Lakers. Also, Porter Jr. and Kai Jones have both had off-the-court troubles in recent years. There are now reports that they might pursue Miles Bridges, which could potentially make it 3 players with recent off-the-court troubles on their roster. Batum is 36; he's still a solid player, but he's getting up there in age. Bamba and KRIS DUNN are fine, but neither of them have stood out on other teams. DJJ is a good signing. Besides all of that, what will any of it matter if Kawhi does not stay healthy?
I wonder what James Harden thinks. I mean he left the 76er’s on bad terms and I would think he’d tell his teammates to stay away at all costs. I’m guessing he wasn’t that close with Paul George???
harden burns all his bridges when he leaves, i'm sure maybe after the first time he did it people listened to him, by now they know that if james says it was their fault it didn't work, he's lying
@murphybrown1366 he was injured 3/5 years in the playoffs and when he was available he shit the bed. No point in being available if you're going to drop 7 pts in a playoff game
@@murphybrown1366 You clearly didn't watch the Clippers if you think PG was the best player. And when you count the games, PG has missed almost as many games as Kawhi in LA.
It’s crazy to think that despite the accumulation of all world talent on paper, the all world talent didn’t have the health or work ethic to compete for a championship. Maybe it’s a telltale sign of how to properly build a team instead of just buying one.
They've added some nice pieces, but FA sharpshooter Luke Kennard and a much needed PF in Marcus Morris would help. Hyland, Tucker, and Westbrook then become trade chips!
You on top of the world rn as an OKC fan, so I get why you think the Clippers are finished. But they’re in better shape now that PG is gone. With the off season moves they made, the team is a lot better overall. As always, their success depends on Kawhi’s health.
Fully agree. Everyone acts like PG is a top ten player. The clippers look better now than they were. They also now how flexibility that they hadn’t had in years
I personally do not think their additions fill the hole left by PG. It was better to overpay and pray they stay healthy knowing they probably won't compared to this. With no picks and hope for a rebuild, why make yourselves have a lower ceiling? I always believed there was potential here when healthy, now even healthy there is flatly 0 percent chance they win anything. Which i consider a shame since 2019 Kawhi is one of the coolest players I ever got to see.
@@nocap9382theres truth to everything you saying. It sucks that PG is gone for sure, especially cause the OKC just finished 1st in the West and have gotten better. But the Clippers still have Harden, Kawhi, Zu, DJJ, and Mann + great role players. Sounds like an all defensive type team. I dont think theyre finished yet.
Honestly what were they winning with PG? Nothing. He’s a good player but he’s not an alpha a leader a closer. Every solid built championship team has the alpha the guy who just takes over. PG is and never was that. So why pay him get in the second apron and be screwed for another 4/5 years rather then do something different. Try something else.
It’s really unfortunate how seemingly no matter what Harden does he can never get tht little bit of luck tht everyone needs to win a chip. He’s played every role, he was the guy in Houston and couldn’t get one, then he took more of a 2nd option facilitator role in Brooklyn and Philly and couldn’t get it done, and he even became arguably a third option complimentary type player on the Clippers and because of different reasons everywhere he couldn’t get it done😕
We can forget about the clippers what a pathetic organization ballers billions wasted on this team which is why I now root for the thunder ever since the trade
clippers had a team of aging stars competing with the young mavs young thunder young wolves they still have kawhi and james harden and for some reason still have russell westbrook they got younger signed athletic young players i think they got better too
the clippers were not deep enough to sustain one injury to a rotation player without suddenly being a .500 team. Depth is a requirement and they didnt have it. Rebounding was a problem for the clippers as was transition defense which suffers with poor depth. PG wanting the 4 year max was going to mean an even thinner bench this year so it was not going to work. I thyink they will need to make a trade before the trade deadline to be a contender. In the mean time, the players can explore their new roles with the departure of PG. Mann will have to score more and the new parts will need to be tested.
Sry I just don’t get this talking point. Every nba commentator is repeating the same lines clippers are done PG left for nothing. Look personally as a basketball fan I like what the clippers did. They weren’t going to win as constructed and were smart enough to change it. Rather then pay overrated PG $55 at 38/39 they now have flexibility and have honestly added players that they wouldn’t have been able to with PG still there. Also they are rumored in a bunch of trades that they weren’t before. I don’t see them being bad next year. 🤷🏻♂️
Exactly! All of the sports channels are saying the same thing. Everyone already knows that when the playoffs come, Pumpkin P shows up. Kawhi signed a 3 year deal but PG wanted 4 years. Philly was desperate. Their fans will realize soon enough that they overpaid for PG when they get eliminated again in the 2nd round.
Dallas fan because of Dirk. But I love basketball as a whole. Clippers needed a stretch big plumlee was not it. And with the cap available to them it’s not the worst. They went full defense this offseason in my opinion. They have solid offensive players
@@gooseallie4417I don't think there's anything wrong with what the clippers did necessarily, I just think they're in a situation where everything they do is bad. Zugzwang for the chess fans.
They might not be bad but with how loaded the West is don’t be shocked if they are a play in team. In reality their championship window is closed and with Kawhi age and injuries and Harden age it’s only a matter of time until some of the young up and coming teams in the West passes them by
We have better defense than ever and got younger and depending on PG every game was sometimes very exhausting he good but don't fall for the whole Clippers lost out because tbh he's been teamed up with other stars and it blew up. Also PG continues with the same lame excuses. Also we have other talent added that came more than make up for PG. Also you didn't mention any of the youth we have screw the picks look at guys we've drafted. Teams don't always keep draft picks.
As much as I love three cone, i notice that he don’t really talk abt MY GUY RUSSSSS the same way other okc fans still do everytime they get a chance too.. maybe I’m just delusional bro
The way i see it if you can't bring back pg or sign klay then you might as well rebuild. They are basically a low seed playoff team even with a healthy 82 game kahwi.
clippers need to rebuild completely, thunder are gonna be a top 5 seed for the next 5 regardless if the picks are good or not. Stop spending money on old stars and make new ones
My guess is they blow it up at the trade deadline if the season is bombing and harden kawhi are healthy. But they could pull and Blake griffin trade again
u don't know basket. clippers will be fine in the regular season. its where Harden shines. the issue is postseason with health. kawhi's lowest finish is 5th last season.
Ummm not exactly! Clippers realized their age and size, they needed to add youth! However, don't count the clips out we move in silence and violence so don't be surprised with the upcoming additions😉
We need to sign John wall, if Russ is getting traded and we brought back Kevin pooper jr which sucks but John wall can help with defense and finishing.
Lol. Seeing clippers fans get excited and think John Wall and Mo Bamba will somehow make this team better, they are a mess. They traded away their future for PG and then lost him for absolutely nothing. It’s over. No fringe free agent is gonna help this team get out of the first. Right now they are at best a play-in team.
For teams in bad spots I think the warriors are an option u can trade all ur young talent for Lauri and still not be good enough or lose steph in a couple of years and have no one to take the reigns
Tbh Iike what they doin now, kpj, batum, Kris Dunn, mo bamba, djj for a steal, Kai jones, and if they get miles bridges they get younger and athletic with a great bench depth, kawhi players better with depth not a bunch of superstars
Yeah the clippers messed up letting george go for nothing. But the clippers cam recover by trading 2/3 guys like norman powell, terrance mann, & PJ tucker for someone like Derozen or lavine in a sign & trade.
I didn't know the Clippers got Jones.. bad loss for Dallas. With all due respect, you seem to be a true believer in the "BIG-3" strategy. So many teams have a BIG-3. If the Pelicans don't trade Ingraham, then they have a BIG-4: Zion, McCollum, Ingraham, and Murray. Denver won a championship without a BIG-3. Do you really think that KD, Booker, and Beal are anywhere near Denver, Dallas, or OKC, which don'’t have a Big-3 ??
Depends on your definition of “fine”. Their ceiling is a mid-tier playoff team now, which is a fine NBA team. If you mean fine as in they’re still a fringe contender, then no.
