My heart sunk,,,, l thought you & Jamie must be getting set to have babies or something!!, phew had me totally thinking it's over... but yr going full time, woop woop & congats....AND yr coming to (my place) New Zealand, l need a beer & a smoke... 😂 bloody rippa.
Sounds like a good plan. The RPMs on longer content is really good, the only reason I'm still surviving here. Although, I think a more appropriate title for the video would have been "It Happened". Or maybe "Stuff". Or perhaps "Blob". Or just "Whatever". Anyway, congrats on the marriage, Canadian relocation and upcoming travel plans, sounds like things are going to get more exciting.
Karl, I must say, your travels are absolutely captivating and your documentary skills are truly exceptional! Thanks for regaling us with your incredible escapades. Every time I lay my eyes on your videos, an insatiable wanderlust takes hold of me.
My heart actually sunk a little bit at the beginning…..well done you actually got me 😂 congratulations on going full time on RU-vid man! Been a fan since 2015! You’ve inspired me a lot to travel and I usually watch your vids on countries before I go to them 😃 looking forward to what’s in store Karl 🌍
I still can't believe you moved to Winnipeg. I left Winnipeg in 2006 and I never went back. lol But welcome to Canada I hope your life in Winnipeg is ok.
As to Canada, people keep forgetting that Newfoundland is also part of the country. It does get a bit complex to get that way. From Halifax one has to go to Cape Breton (still Nova Scotia) but the last time I did that there were no bus services, nor trains. I had to rent a car. From Cape Breton I took the ferry to Newfoundland. Like I said, it is not that easy but definitely worth it. Keep in mind that once one leaves the southern Ontaria and southern Quebec regions, Canada is comparable to a third world country. Nothing is easy.
This is such good news! Great that you can go full time on here and I for one am so excited with the additional bits from the longer documentaries such as the top ten; itinerary etc. Looking forward in watching more of you!
I’m don’t know why you didn’t do this years ago. Honestly you are the best travel vlogger on RU-vid imho. I hope it all works out for you spectacularly as it would be very well deserved.
we all want hk2ny part 2, ive watched you since 2013 when you was only on 20k sub mark, ive watched hk2ny many times when needing inspiration think thats how alot of people found you. Personally loved backpackers of the Caribbean that was a fav
For somewhere less travelled in Europe I'd recommed Slavonija and Zagorje regions of Croatia. Croatian coast is full of tourists yet basically noone gets to these regions :) Bosnia is also close by and beautiful. Can't wait for the Africa series 🎉
I'd love to see you speak about the inner travel, the mindset stuff that goes on being a traveller, the personal growth, the challenges etc. Would be great.
I saw the title on a road trip up Queensland without watching this video and my Mrs had to listen to why my favourite RU-vidr is quitting and why it's such a terrible thing in my life only to see that it was clickbait. Best news ever! Can't wait Karl! Cheers again 🙌
Woohoo coming to NZ! Hope you're doing well and congratulations on going full time! Well done . If you're ever in Marlborough region we would love to show you around! Wine country and the beautiful Sounds. Congratulations Karl! Well deserved
I’m so excited for this next chapter on your channel! The upcoming trips sound really fun too. Also had goosebumps at the Africa trailer, cannot wait to see that series. It would be amazing to see an additional video about the road trip to America 😊
I don't know if they are the inspiration, but your Midnight Train to Georgia series (and this upcoming series) remind me a little bit of Long Way Round/Long Way Down/Long Way Up series that Ewan MacGregor has done on motorcycle. Love long overland journey videos!
Fantastic news!! Wonderful to know you can finally go full time and bring joy to millions. Looking forward to your Africa video (trailer looks epic) and many more 🍷
Great news in spite of the click bait! Best wishes with your reorganization and move forward. True confessions--as a 71 year old grandmother of 7 all of the activities on your travels are not exactly my style, I drink neither coffee or beer ;). That said, your travel adventures are MARVELOUS and so professionally documented, transporting me to exotic places I'll never visit except through your lens, I don't want to miss a one. (I'm "boring", I only go to my favorite country of Switzerland, exploring all the nooks and crannies.) Your editing and presentation is superb, top notch, A1, brilliant, and what ever other superlatives one can think of. Keep up the good work, Karl.
Honestly I don't think any of us viewers would care if you put ads on the documentaries or sponsors, we know you work hard and deserve the money from them!
Genuinely so happy for you and the channel ! HK2NY inspired me to leave my job back in 2019 and travel where i met my soon to be wife and move to Germany. So happy for your Karl, (raising a beer) to future adventures.
You deserve it Karl got one of the best channels on RU-vid and I think people take for granted how hard it is when your constantly filming and trying to enjoy your trip etc etc I know this as I did a 17 night trip in Italy for my instagram channel
I've gone across Canada on the train several times, it is an amazing experience! Taking the train from Winnipeg to Churchill is cool as well. Depending on the season, you can see polar bears and beluga whales. Looking forward to the videos, Karl.
Hey Karl! This is excellent news and we’re so excited! We’ve also just moved to Canada from the UK (I’m on an IEC working holiday visa) and hoping to get PR. So we are also thinking of trips like your coast to coast! We are based in Calgary so if you want any Alberta recommendations other than Banff and Jasper then let me know! Looking forward to the weekly content and it’s such a good idea to post the trip breakdowns! You should definitely do a Q&A, and perhaps more about your visa process if that’s not coming up next week already! Take care both!
Why not try to team up with Eurail / Interrail for one of the longer trips in Europe? They make international train travel so much more accessible price wise and having their passes gives you maximum flexibility (with the exception of some high-demand fast trains).
As for where to go in Europe I would suggest Bosnia and you can take in Serbia and Montenegro and because it is summer you can go to the Bosnian 🇧🇦 coast line which is little known and to Neum
In terms of lesser-traveled parts of Europe, you can't go too far wrong with Bosnia and/or Albania. Both are fantastic, although I'd personally lean towards Bosnia
Glad to hear you'll be doing more. Always look forward to your vids. Your Switzerland documentary really inspired me and helped me when I went there for the first time 2 years ago.
Karl there are only so many times I can watch your videos on repeat 😂 this is great news. Very happy with the announcement Ps so happy to see this channel grow into a full time business.
I was in Tanzania in June celebrating my 60th, we did 5 days in Zanzibar and 10 days doing the northern national parks (including The Serengeti). It was fantastic and I highly recommend it, so really looking forward to your series from there.
I've been lucky to visit so many of your travel video locations in the last 3 years. Iceland, Switzerland, Italy, Croatia, Thailand, Japan but having just spent 3 weeks in April road tripping through New Zealand I'm so excited to see you revisit it and Jamie's first experience. Loved every moment. The landscape, the people and of course the LOTR filming locations!
Very few vloggers understand the importance of properly combining the video and acoustics for maximizing the impact of the clips. Good luck and thank you for the videos.
Yay more Karl, more travel and more New Zealand! I’ve only been there 6 times - can’t get enough of that place! But also looking forward to some new destinations! Good luck with the big life moves too! 😊
In regards to your "slightly less-traveled" places in Europe request, you mentioned Albania, and I think that is what you should do. Its a great country with a lot of stuff to do. Spend a little time in Theth, do the Theth to Valbone hike, and then go chill out on the coast, and finally see some of the old traditional towns. Enjoy the friendly people, inexpensive food, etc.
So excited for you mate! For the trips you have done in the past I would love to see breakdowns on Switzerland most! & for places untravelled in europe, maybe estonia/latvia/lithuania? or one of the 3
Oyyyy! I actually thought all the worst when I read your title. For Europe I'd suggest Eastern Europe ( please include Romania) and for tge Canada trip, I'd expand the BC trip because this province is simply outstanding and you'll just love it.
For the lesser known European destinations in May I would look into Albania and then onto North Macedonia, 2 weeks would give you plenty of time to see the likes of Tirana, Berat, Vlore, Ohrid and Skopje. Would also make for some very interesting content!
Thanks for doing this Karl. A great Segway into expansion of your channel which I know is needed. You are the best Travel Vlogger, but do not have the following that others do. Still keep True to the channel whilst making useful additional videos. Love it!
I can't wait for the next documentarys. I like the concept of showing all the stuff like Prices and itinerary in different videos. So if someone (me) is interested they can watch and learn. If you are ever back in Switzerland, I wanna buy you a beer or two or more ;) As you were a big inspiration and information source for me to start traveling solo and in groups.
Duuude this is so exciting! After having watched your channel grow from 20k subs to here I'm so proud of you making the leap into full time creation! Can't wait for the content and I also live in New Zealand now in Taupo as a skydive camera man / instructor.. I'd love to record you guys here at taupo tandem skydiving, I'm sure I could wangle the video package for free, maybe even the skydive. Anyway would be epic to meet up with the two of you for a beer if you're passing through regardless
Great news and congratulations on going full time! Definitely looking forward to the planned additional content. Love the docos from an experiential aspect but the budgets snd top lists can be super handy for developing our own unique plans after we've been inspired by your trips haha
Can’t wait for the Africa series. Your last Africa series convinced me to book that same Gadventures tour and whenever I feel like reliving it, I rewatch your videos 😊 So happy to hear there’s going to be more regular Karl viewing. I’m all for sponsorship ads (gotta pay the bills) but would LOVE if you made them more creative to watch like ‘Kinging It’ do 😊
Switzerland! Loved to see more detail and the company your mum used to book accommodations and transfer luggage. For short trips to Europe, have to you been to Lennggries, Bavaria Germany? Quaint town almost to Austria. Brauneck ski mountain is awesome to hike or ski. My husband’s cousin was the head of tourism. I’m sure I can hook you up for a great adventure! And congratulations on our marriage to Jamie! Side note, my husband and I traveled to Iceland in June. We watched your vlogs multiple times. We did our own thing and rented a camper van, it was fabulous! Also booked a trip to Vietnam with Intrepid Travel next year! Thanks for all the hard work and inspiration!
Oh and for Canada. I recently moved back to Europe (thanksgod) but I lived on Vancouver island (Tofino) and you will certainly appreciate a winter vacation there. It's warm and nice and peaceful. Summer is a shitshow lol.
Hi Karl, You mentioned Albania as a potential European destination for June. It's a great country and cheap! And if you go then you would really like the Valbone to Theth hike - I can definitely recommend it!
You inspired me to travel all the way from Australia to Iceland! I would never have experienced such a magical place if it wasn’t for you and your amazing videos. Thank-you. I am so excited to see you do more! ( my next trip is New Zealand!)😊
If you're in the Montreal and Ottawa area around September, here are some suggestions given this will be peak Fall season: Walkabout through downtown Ottawa to see the parliament buildings, and have a pint on Elgin Streets several historic pubs, and walk along the Rideau Canal (It's not England, but still nice) Hike through the Gatineau Hills to see the maple trees and many incredible lakes (it's not Switzerland, but still nice). And though there are a ton of museums, a wacky one would be the Deifenbunker off the beaten path for some time-stopped Cold War era artifacts. In Montreal: walk through and eat in Old Montreal, see the Notre-Dame Basilica, Mount Royal Park for great views, Biodome to meet some critters, and enjoy a heck of a nightlife.
